  • I put a slip stitch into the single crochet between groups of V shapes and it makes a nice dip. Good Luck!

  • I did it... but having difficulty rolling it up... Not coming out the same.. You make it look so easy.

  • i think it's a treble crochet not double you are doing

  • I'm experiencing the same problem that Vanroropeza is... my petals are coming out straight.... please help!!!

  • how did u get the peddles... Mine looks straight without yhe little dipps... I think u left out a step

  • @imsogayXD chaining is 1 loop In anther loop.

  • im a beginner so how do you do the 17 chains?

  • Also if you 17 chain you get 7 Vs. I counted, u can do chain 15 and get 6Vs.

  • But how do you do in between peddles ?

  • OMMGGG that is amazing!!!

  • Love the rose!! Made a lavender beanie for my little neice, this would be just the perfect touch!! Great video! Thank you!

  • I could not get the drop inbetween petals, how many chains did you do before the next set of five and what size needle did you use. thank you :)

  • I had to watch your video a few times, but I finally got it! The flower came out wonderfully and I'm going to attach it to a scarf I made my sister for Christmas.Yay! Thanks for the tutorial! :)

  • my god! this is fabulous! mine turned out so cute! thank youuuuuu :)

  • sooooo do you dc 6 in each sc or 5? Mine isn't coming out right.

  • Fantastic video! It really worked out well for me, thank you! :)

  • this video sucked no up close shots

  • --___-- she's sooo fast, it's hard to follow..

  • This didn't even freaking work xD I did it and ir wasn't even a flower /:

  • wow! never knew it was that easy to make a flower. why didnt i learn sooner. great video despite what others have said. i agree you probably need to at least watch a beginer video but your video was very easy to follow. thank you so much for sharing, cant wait to add these to my girls head bands:)

  • You make this alot easier for me THANK YOU so much <3

  • I always had one chain left over when I did it on 17 chains but it's really 16 so now I equal

  • My GOD you crochet so quick and flawlessly!

  • That's super simple, but it looks gorgeous! Thanks!

  • very helpful! i was trying to make one using a pattern, but i can't read it! watching you do it makes it very do-able and easy. can't wait to try again!

  • Hi Jan,

Thank you for this video. I tried reading the directions to make flowers but since I am a novice I found it hard to make the flowers.

Your video I watched through once then watched it a second time and made the flower along with you, pausing occasionally since I am not as fast as you.

And I made two roses thanks to you. I will look for more videos for you to see what else you are teaching.

Great Video , and again Thank you

  • This would have been very helpful if it'd been slower so that it made sense.

  • Oh, it turns out really pretty! It was confusing at first ( but all crocheting patterns are to me ) but then I got it! Thanks a lot for posting this!

  • looks like a j but im sure

  • what size hook are you using?

  • Probably a dumb question but how do you keep the flower together and attach it to a project without it coming undone and flopping loosely? P.S Your instructions are easy to follow. Thank you!

  • OMG that so cute and pretty!

  • Kewl

  • I'm making one for my grandma! (it's her b-day)

  • that seems really easy thank you :)

  • Thank you but I'm afraid there is a mistake in these instructions.

  • wow i am so glad that i found your channel ..thank you !!!!

  • added to favorites!this is absolutely adorable!))thank you))

  • I cant get mine to create the rose at the end... :(

  • @TheBestkwnsecret09 I was having the same problem too, but then noticed after she was done what went wrong. If you look closely to her finished one (before she rolls it) there is a sc between each cluster of 6 dc, which she doesn't really mention in the video. Hope that helps you, it worked great for me! :)

  • hie..its wonderful..

please lemme knw if you need an assistant for your work..

    regards,

  • Thanks so much!! I did it but it's not as good a shape as yours .. And I think red yarn makes all the difference ;) Can yu please tell me what hook and what ply you're using please? If it's here somewhere I couldn't find it. Thanks again :)

  • you're adorable

  • Thank you, very generous.

  • Well done . Thanks a lot.

  • het lukt maar ze zij eerst 6 3n toen 5

    moest op nieuw beginne

  • I couldn't do it (I'm a beginner. This is not for beginners)

  • I made two! It was really easy, and I'm 13. : )

  • Great video. I will try to make this and give it to my friend : )

  • so many yarns! too bad i didn't learn this during the summer break

  • fabuloso el video ella explica muy bien como hago para traducirlo al español

  • thanks this video was very helpful

  • i love making these for mother's day. I even taught my mom how to make them.

  • Wow! You make it look so easy!

Great tutorial! One of the easiest to follow I've seen! Thanks!

  • Excellent, thank you Jan!

  • Thank you for your reply to my question on the rosebud...I understand it now and am making many or them.....my husband likes your flowers because they are rose (buds) not the bigger rose....thanks again.

  • are u in yarn wonderland or something?? (love the flower, too!)

  • I started to learn how to crochet today in hopes to someday make a flower. Thanks to your video I was able to make one right away!

  • I followed your directions twice and I came out with 7 V spaces and also I think you left out a stitch, if I follow your instructions exact, I get a row of dbl crochet with no dip, it's like I crocheted 1 even row, how did you get you slight dip in between each petal?

  • @chilili441 i couldn't make the petals either... I'm mexican and I thought that as my english isn't very good, i didn't understand how to make them... but if you found out how to make them please let me know

  • @chilili441 if you pause the video she also have 7 "V's"... in order to get the waves for the petals, after the 3 final chains, you make 1 double crochet and then 3 triple crochet and again one... for each petal... it looks better if you make 1 doble crochet, 5 triple crochet and 1 double again for each petal :D i hope it works for you... i hope i made myself clear

  • @chilili441 I swear they make it look so easy. I followed it to the video to the "T" and mines isn't coming out with the dip either. I think she is not telling us something,

  • how on earth did you do the double stitch again? Just a beginner.. and very confused.. xD

  • @greensheep10 i know i got confused by that to

  • @greensheep10 Try the book Crochet The Complete Guide. It is a great reference for beginners!

  • @greensheep10

start like a single crochet, so you have one loop already. then instead of inserting your hook into the next stitch, yarn over. then insert your hook as normal and yarn over to have 3 loops. pull yarn through two loops and crochet like usual again with the last loop. :)

  • @greensheep10 Maybe you should check out check out "the crochet for beginners", so you'll be able to learn how.

  • I think you left out a stitch, didn't you slip stitch in each space to create the wave affect? I don't get the same affect you do, it is all straight across..

  • thank you so much!!!

  • I followed along with you making the flower, my flower did not come out like yours, I don't have the dip in mine, they are straight across....Did you slip stitch in a ch or space somewhere to get the curve?

  • Are you in yarnland? It looks magical...

  • ive been doing that kind of stitch for a skark im making

  • The camera is a little too far away and at an awkward angle to show the viewers how to do this. It might be better to sit with a camera in front of the crochet person and have the crochet directly under the lense while they look through it.

Very much appreciate the time taken to make this and put this on YouTube, though.

  • but what size hook does she use? or did I miss it somewhere? =(

  • Oh, wow, that's way easier than I thought it would be. Thanks!

  • This is the best tutorial I have seen so far for this sort of rose. Thank you for the clear and simple instructions.

  • loved yourrosebudflowerthankyou

  • ILOVEDD!! THANKYOU!!

  • So easy! Great idea.

  • i was taught how to do this when i was about 12.. I'm now 19 and watching this now is making me so confused hahaha. I really want to get back into crocheting

  • sc? where is it? agh going back to tjw1963 also, said were making 6 V's I came up with 7 so did you..... inaccurate, some of the dc were NOT dc, confusing, coulnd't even see your work to compare mine to it, BLAA

  • cute flower and so easy to follow

  • wow your good i can crochet only 5 peddle flowers so far got to try this your a great teacher ;)

  • char7 sahel wbsil.merci.

  • Came out great, but I agree with others that the slip stitch or sc between the 6dc clusters was left out. It is obvious if you are experienced but for somebody new to the craft I hope they come read the comments!

  • Radical beans d@wg!

  • i love the way you teach!

  • I'm gonna do this ^^

  • In the second round you make a double crochet then a single crochet and then another double crochet, which forms the V she talks about. The next round you make the 6 double crochet in the V's. What she did not say is to slip stich in the next single crochet space, but shows it done on the video. That is important to do so that the 6 double crochets form the petal shape. Hope this clears up the confusion. Happy crocheting!

  • Gosh... alot harder then it looks! My fist try was a MAJOR fail! HAha

  • Easy to follow but you forgot to say to add the SC after each 6 DC thingy

  • I have only minimal knowledge of crocheting, but I feel like I could totally make this. Great tutorial! :D

  • this is really great! thanks for this video :)

  • Ok, first of all, this is a great video. You don't show the slip stitches in the video but the slip stitches between the shells are really needed to give definition to the "petals" or shells. I guess it would depend on the size of the hook relative to the size of the yarn to get different size buds. Great job, thanks.

  • I have always had issues with books not explaining well enough, i tried a different youtube video and it was impossible to see the work. This clip is fantastic, i tried it and had no problem at all.

  • wow my sister and mom taught me how to crochet when i was 10 yrs old. im 12 now and im thinking of making one of these for my moms birthday coming up :) thnx for the help

  • Does anyone know what size crochet hook she is using?

  • thanks Jane!!

  • thank u sooo much

  • thank u sooo much

  • I agree-- it comes out really well and it's easy to follow.

However, in the last part-- when you're doing all the double crochets in the "V" areas-- it works best if you add a slip stitch in t the end of each "V" section. This creates the separation between the areas-- kind of rounds them out. I did it once without adding a slip stitch-- and it looked odd.

  • IS THERE ANY COPYRIGHT HERE?

  • wow... i thought it was going to be more difficult, will definetly try it :D thank you!

  • Ok i did this and mine came out looking nothing like this :/

  • I like the way she did the rose and it was so easy

  • thanks i love it but do need that needle exzactly coz i onlu have a stright one only

  • i love the flower so much but do u need that exzact needle

  • This is very helpfull. Thank you for the instruction althought right now I have a major headache, (I think I;m allergic towards crochet) but definitely will try to process it again.

  • okay... now i am confused about he second line... do you double crochet 6 times into the one whole that was made by all the double crocets? ugh confused!

  • Thanks for sharing! I featured your video on my blog folkartbycampbelljane dot blogspot dot com

  • i got lost at the 5 hains from the needle... anyone wanna help me?

  • I've tried to make other flower, watching tutorials on you tube and this is the easiest to follow even though the flower looks more difficult. I like your style of explaining how the do the type of stitches you use, was is great for me because I needed a reminder!

  • Mine didn't go well.. at all, but thank you! I guess I'll have to try again sometime

  • You rock Jan!!! Purrfect!

  • Thank you

  • Things I found interesting were that you need to slip stitch in the same hole after you do the 6 double crotchs, then go on to the next hole. And the other thing I found was in rolling it, I noticed she rolled the petals around her finger to get them to roll upright as opposed to flat which is what I'd done. All in all, good tut. though. Pretty and easy.

  • Beautiful

  • 15 people cant make a crochet flower...

  • FANTASTICO

  • i found her mistake she forgot to add the single chan ON the v.

now my art looks like hers.

  • @Temari305 hi please can you explain me what means that "v" i´m neww doing crochet and i don´t understend that... i´m from spain so.. sorry for my english... than you

  • im sorry but you made me waste my time......it turned out nothing like that ok towards the end u said make 5 doubles then u said 6 then after it was done you said there had to be 5 in each1 opening.............................yes im mad you meesed up somewhere can you please do it again but dont skip ANYTHING. thank you.

  • Excellent instructions and easy to follow! I

  • Are there any text instructions that could be followed rather than following the video?

  • this was very great i loved it so soooo much thank u very much

  • this was very great i loved it so soooo much

  • when u did the crochet, it really luked gud, but once u rolled it the entire beauty is gone.....I think the holes in between added beauty to the crochet, which cannot be seen once it is rolled.............Nyways Gud work....

  • jan, you have some great ideas! thank you for sharing them :)

  • its good but i had to use lil of my own brains to get something tht looked like urs

    anyway thnxs it helped kinda!!!!

  • that looks like the easiest rose I have seen, so clear and simple.. will defintely try it out thanks.

  • Wth i had made....=="...damn ugly

  • I liked the video.. except it kinda confused me when you said to do 5dc in the next ch 1 and then you said to do 6dc in each but at the end you said to do 5dc in each. i think maybe you should clear things up.

  • I love this video thank you

    @RuthieAppleby

  • thank you so much... it really helped me...

  • This is a marvellous rose.

    Well done.

  • yes, well the theatrical theory says that a sewing machine should do the trick, AmberDawn2479 and if that doesn't work, the theatrical theory #2 says apply hot glue and smash down with a sledge hammer. tell me if that helps or works...

  • Was fun :) the only part that I couldn't make look right was putting it all together. How to you tie it all together so it stays?

  • how do you make a bigger version of this?

  • Thank you for this. Helped a lot.

  • hi jan

thanks so much for this video you helped me

You are better than my teacher

    thanks again

  • it look hard :(

  • So written instructions are:

ch17, count 5 from hook and DC then CH1 then DC again in same stitch, skip 1 chain, DC, CH1, DC Skip 1, do this to end. then ch3 and turn:

2nd line: in first open space DC 5 x's, SLIP Stitch in next open spot, then DC 6x's in next open spot, repeating the SLST and DC x's 6 to end. simgle crochet in last stitch, and roll from end to form rose. after that it's up to you to figure out how to close this off, or crochet it onto something.

  • @susanharner what do you mean by DC into the first open space? what is the open space? i see loads of open spaces....

  • Hi Jan,

Love this flower, absolutely adorable. Are the written instructions available anywhere? If so could you post that or send me a message with the link?

    Thanks!

  • ARGH i cant roll it!!!

  • Thanks once again for wonderful instruction! Beautiful!

  • i don't think this is for beginnngers.

  • I will try this one. I'm sure it will come out great! thaks a million.

  • Thank you i just made one ,, it was sweet

  • great!! love it!

  • use the Hook G or H and it will look like the one she made.

  • You do need some crochet-experience, but I do understand this flower. I took lessons crochet in The Netherlands, for the basics. with these basics I can use videos like this one for special projects. Thnks Johanneke, Leiden, the Netherlands

  • @JohannekeMerkje my nan showed me how to do it and i'm only 15 but im better than my mum, lol, i thkin she skipped a loop in between and forgot to tell us though and in the first one she did she only did five stiches, not six so i'll have to try them both

  • @tyblips You go girl! Great to hear that young women also crochet ;-). I started knitting when I was 10 yrs, and still do it. Only recently I learned how to crochet, and I love doing it.

    Greetings from The Netherlands....

  • Hi Jane i am Ana from Holland maybe you sould slow a bit next time. Thank you for the video.

  • so easy.thanks

  • Can you please tell me what size hook to use?
