  • Donna has infinatley more control but is not more interesting! EQUAL!

  • If you look up Reba singing "Does He Love You" at the 1993 CMA Awards (Red Dress moment), at the end you can see Liza Minnelli clapping for Reba and Linda Davis. If you can't find it on here, go to Reba.com, and look under Reba's videos. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see it though.

  • Liza always sounds as if she is struggling. Whereas donna is effortless and powerful because she sings from her diaphram.

  • Donna could sing the phone book and have a hit record...

  • This would have been the ideal "reunion" song for Donna and Barbra. Liza's singing sounds uncomfortable and overwrought. Nice lady but. . . not the best of song choices.

  • Thank GOD for Liza!!

  • the song starts so beuatifully , then comes lizza......

  • the song starts so beautifully , then comes lizza....

  • I think this sounds great! The first, time i have heard it.

  • Incredible!! 2 FABULOUSLY Amazing voices!! Liza and Donna!...... Wow!

  • WOW great song. two icons.

  • Undoubtedly, Donna Summer has some of the best vocal ranges that one can possibly possess~always great to hear her sing!!

  • Liza's voice is too cabaret~

  • BRAVO !

  • Classic duet!

  • What a FANTASTIC Duet! These bitches belt it out!

  • I never knew this existed. I like this so much.....Donna is an excellent vocalist, Liza is a Broadway momma with a great voice that is great for broadway and the two together works for me...Great Song.

  • the top two GAY icons TOGETHER ...now why havent Diana Ross and Little Richard gotten together YET????

  • Liza sounds so bad; Donna sounds so good. This should have been a reunion duet with her and Barbra.

  • @fkd1963 Liza is 10 times the singer that Barbra is. If you watched a Barbra performance now, it's completely lack-luster. Liza gives EVERYTHING in her performances, she's a true artist.

  • @niallr22 now, now. everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  • Two legendary Divas --in their own rights.

  • wow.

  • estos si son duetos!!!

  • Love love love this!! Best song on the album :)

  • this is pure pure art i love this verson as much as reba's i just hope the uploder likes reabs to because im taking this video puting in to and mp3 and adding both togather

  • Liza isn't that bad but she can't touch Donna as a singer. Liza is more of a overall performer not noted for her vocals.

  • Liza is great, but she's a performer not really a vocalist like Donna. This would've been another great team up with Donna and Streisand.

  • I've never heard this, nor have I ever even heard about. When i found this a few moments ago, I had high hopes....they were NOT met. Donna sounds awesome and Liza doesn't, thats all it amounts to. The original, even Pattie Labelle's verson (which I just found out about just prior to this one) each sound much better. I was all prepared to go out and find Liza's album that this some is on, now not so much.

  • this makes me cry, liza has changed. maybe cuz of the age :(

  • This sounds good, really. They have different voices, different styles. They are very different singers.

Liza is cabaret , Donna is anything else. But, they do pull this off together very well. It amounts to a good blend.

I love Donna and I love Liza, too!

    Here's to two immortal DIVAS

(and, of course one EMPRESS, Donna!)

  • OMG.....poor Liza, she sounds like she been smoking out at the Bingo too long. Donna sounds like she could go straight into MacArthurs Park. She sounds awesome.

  • Reminds me of that Club 57 they were both there too

  • OMG Liza's voice is terrible, but Summer is as great as usual and much stronger! Reba's version is definately much better.

  • Thank you for posting!! I agree Donna and Reba doing this together would be out of this world, but I like this one with Liza too!

  • Oh no I didnt like this at all. I mean Donna was great but this isnt the type of music Liza sould be singing and they didnt sound good together

  • Excellent pair.

  • OH MY GOD, I never knew this existed. . .Reba is way better but could get Donna and Reba to do this together? Liza's voice is just so grating.

  • I was surprised when I first heard of this duet. It's a very rare and, for some, hard to imagine pairing. However, I love this version. Donna absolutely drowns Liza, but they are two different vocalists and I think they sound genuine and true to the song's characters.

  • Nothing like a classic! I just have to say I dont like how Liza and Donna singing this together, their voices don't blend as well as Reba's and Linda/Kelly's voices do. But I am not here to be mean, I just want to state my opinion. And I understand if you give me thumbs down!

  • Both of these women are music icons. I think what is important to remember is not every singer, performer and or artist gets the historical honor of being an icon that can transmit their talent in there own time and beyond even when their life moment is over. Liza and Donna Summer will be remembered for a long time to come for something that is quite hard to define but easy to feel.

  • i like reba's version better

  • awesome contrast between the two divas.. there's no need to be disrespectful about either one of their talents, which, i might add, extends far beyond leaving catty notes on youtube..

  • Bad combo of voices.... Donna sounds great Liza is to over the top.. ...

  • Donna sounds profoundly wonderful here. God bless LIza for trying.

  • I didn't know Katharine Hepburn could sing.

  • LOL!!!

  • ha ha

    I know what you mean

  • both sound great liza is a true star. Donna also great. Both icons from the 70's

  • they both sound good, donna sounds amazing and this is coming from a 15 year old........ okay i'm not 15 lol. is it just me but does it erk you a little when people tell their age when they approve of an older artist work ? like it really matters like, la dee fricken da.. yay! ur young woo hoo >l>

  • @yunova i know right!!... I've been a Judy fan since 9 and i'm 18 now but i dont go blabbing it out all the time like lots of others do.

  • Donna Summer is so fab she even makes Liza sound good.

  • bich be nice l they are equally wondermus

  • You need your ass kicked for writing such a thing!!! Liza sounds like she just had a stroke and was wheeled to the recording studio on this. I'm surprised they didn't make her do her part over...or maybe they did. Donna may have gained weight at 61 years, but what do you look like, jackass? Donna just did a string of concerts. What planet are you seeing YouTube from? Where's Liza? She ain't no Judy!

  • ifusuckilltellu: Written by a true idiot. Did you mean, "you're" dismissed? Did you mean "because."? You're (notice the spelling, idiot) no one to dismiss anyone. I still responded, idiot-looser, and spoke MY mind. Donna is an artist that can sing anything. She's music history's dance music icon still going strong. I hope you take your meds and take a nap; you're a little cranky.

  • love liza....always the best...!!!!

  • Liza sounds awful. This song should have reunited Barbra with Donna.

  • its so fab to have both of the Queens of the qweens on a recording..snap

  • One of the best "vocal performances" by both "Superstars".....Had no idea Minelli could sing so "soulfully".....WOW! A++!

  • This is amazing. I didn't even know they did this. Thank you for posting.

  • nice duet...

  • This is gorgeous in every possible way Donna Summer can really sing and the fact that she would stand up and sing a duet with the greatest "Stage Star" really of all time is simply amazing!

  • Why didn't they make a video!!!!

  • I love both ladies doing this, Should of been a huge hit for them.

  • I love this, but I agree Liza's best work was with the Pet Shop boys....Donna should have worked with them!!! THAT would have been hot!

  • I agree Liza's best work was with the Pet Shop boys....Donna should have worked with them!!!"

PSB said numerous complimentary things about Donna, and there were reports that they did approach her people about producing an album for her, but were turned down. Probably without Donna ever hearing anything about it. Yet another "what if?" in Donna's career.

  • I think that this is an ABSOLUTELY STUNNING PERFORMANCE by BOTH Liza and Donna. I have been a Donna fan for years, and when I heard that they were doing this, I rushed out to buy "Gently". I also made me a Liza fan all over again. Liza's best still is "Results" with PSB, but this comes DARN close!

  • Thank you so much for this great "piece" of info.... I really was in the "Dark" about this Song. It's great to know the "history" behind such a great tune:-D)))

    little paulo:-D)))

  • The song was actually offered to Liza first - as a solo and she turned it down. It was then offered to Barbara Mandrell, who also turned it down. Then Norvell Blackstock heard, took it to his wife because he thought she should record it. After hearing it just once, Reba said this isn't a solo - it's a duet. She then called Linda davis and a country classic was created. But this version is superb!

  • Donna's voice sounds great. I like Liza, but I don't love her voice on this song. Overall, I'm not crazy about this arrangement. I much prefer the Reba McEntire/Linda Davis recording. Also - I thought I read somewhere that Billy Stritch used to have a cabaret act with two women and he had written "Does He Love You" for them to sing together. It's so perfect as a duet - I can't imagine what the song would have been like as a solo.

  • Yes, Billy sang with Rebecca Plant and Sharon Montgomery. They were called Montgomery, Plant and Stritch back in the 80's.

  • @Rusty3659 First, it's Narvel Blackstock (who is also Reba's manager). Second, Reba's label at the time (MCA) wanted her to record it with either Wynonna, or Trisha Yearwood at the time. Before Reba had asked either of them, she came up with the idea of having Linda Davis (Hilary Scott of Lady Antebellum's mother) sing the "other woman's" part before deciding on who she & her label should ask to sing with her. Linda was already Reba's back-up singer, so they knew it would flow...........

  • @Rusty3659 ......together. The label (Tony Brown at MCA) and Reba & Narvel could see how at least what the song would sound like. After hearing Linda's version, they decided to have Linda sing on the record with Reba. *My comment is not to sound mean BTW*. LOL.

  • i dont like lizas voice at all on this recording, miss matched vocalists...

  • Sweet... I didn't know they covered this. Patti LaBelle does an amazing cover of this song too! This is such a great song no matter who sings it!

I saw Liza in concert last year and I didn't think she would hold up vocally but she was amazing. I'm not an "crazy" Liza fan but I really enjoyed it.

  • Let's face it: even in her prime Liza was never a "great" singer like Judy or Barbra. She had an effective Broadway voice but that's about it. It's probably why she hasn't sold many albums (CDs) throughout the years. Summer's voice is FLAWLESS on this recording - just gorgeous!

  • i agree....

  • I never knew this song existed.

This only reinforces the fact that Donna Summer has an INCREDIBLE VOICE!

Great song the only thing that would have made this song better is someone who had a much more stronger voice(sorry Liza).

    Whitney,Celine,and yes another Summer/Streisand duet.

  • Thank you:-) I have to say that I love Liza too. The song has two characters....Both heart broken and both different Ladies... Those two voices blend into perfection!!! This is just my humble opinion....I'm sure a lot of Liza Fans will think that she is the best... I think both of them are the best...just different "Tones"...colours....:-)))

  • I totally agree.. A lovely combination of vocal styles. Smooth with emotive. Never heard this. Both legends.

  • Thank you:-))) I love when people see the beauty everywhere...:-)))

  • Like I said below Im a total nutty Liza fan but this song would be nothing with out Donna Summer in it.Its simply amazing. Because Donna has one helluva voice! I would love to see her in concert!

  • @Summer4All so well said!

  • @stevenk79 Never compares Donna Summer1s voice and Liza. Are u crazy?

Both are gorgeous but Liza............no one compares to her.

  • Yes with time and other things sometimes voices change...I think the combination of these two voices shows the drama and "story" in an Amazing way from this little "film"...

  • I know Reba McEntire originally sang this but I think this version is loads better and its NOT because Im a biased crazy Minnelli fan(Which I happen to be lol). Its because of Donna Summers voice.

One of the writers of the song was Billy Stritch so I think thats the key.

    Thanks for posting this!!

  • It is great to hear that from a big Liza Fan. I love Liza too but Donna Did such a great performance here...She made me very Proud:-)))

Thank you for your great comment:-)))

  • The song would not have worked without Donna in it. There is such emotion in her voice which goes perfect with the meaning of the song.

Its amazing what you get when you put two people with such talent together.

  • Donna Summer still has her pipes, I wish I could say the same for Liza......

  • Thank you...:-)))

  • very beauftiful
