  • Thats..really fast actually o-o

  • Wonderful lens, isn't it!

  • Nice demonstration, but could you tell us what camera have you used?

  • @tatkonasvi Canon XTi/400D

  • useful thanks....

  • pretty fast compared to the 500d kitlens.

  • nice sound! hahaha :)

  • Hard to find a more basic lens than this one, but being so basic it's a surprise for what it can deliver.

  • :D this video is made in the finder :D:D.There is a program for the video with canons. Just whit Live view !

  • well, it hasn´t got such fast auto focus, or not auto focus at all (focus is in the 50D is contrast based), so it´s not right to asy it´s similar ;)

  • This lens is a MUST for any canon EOS owner, whether it be Film or Digital. Nifty-fifty for the win! Its a shame canon removed the Full time manual focus ring and metal mount on the MkII. le*sigh*

  • wow pretty fast for a non-USM, can't wait till my shipment arrives !!

  • will it work with the canon rebel xsi

  • as far as i know xsi is the same as 450d

  • This is a Canon EF lens. EF lenses work on all of Canon's EOS bodies. Canon's EF-S line, however, only works on 1.6x crop factor bodies.

  • they do actually work on 1,3x and full frame bodies as well, but then with vignetting...

  • No, they don't; unless you go fiddling around with the rear element cover of these lenses. Otherwise the mirror of FF bodies will jam.

  • Not all 1.6's. Older bodies such as 10d's aren't compatible with EF-S lenses because the mirror hits the back of the lens.

  • @GETonMYlevel323 dude any canon lens will work with that camera and many sigma lens too

  • will this lens fit on a EOS 450D?

  • Yes, it's an EF mount lens, so it will work with all current canon bodies (APS-C and full frame).

  • cheers, good vid by the way.

  • also, what aperture is this at?

  • I believe focusing takes place with the lens wide open, and the target aperture is set when the shutter activates, so what you see is f/1.8.

  • btw, thanks for this.. seems like everyone is so bloody smitten with live view that no one cares about the viewfinder anymore..

  • which camera did you use? i'm gonna get this for the rebel xsi.

  • This was on canon xti.

  • how did u record the viewfinder?

  • I stuck the lens of my camcorder into the viewfinder and zoomed out a little (the camcorder) to get as much of the actual view at the end of the viewfinder "tunnel" as possible. Then I just held them together with both hands. Luckily the camcorder I have is pretty small and light so it wasn't much of a problem.

With bigger lens I rest the camera on something as balancing gets tricky then.

  • i'm a nikon owner, and i have to say, Canon Ultrasonic lens are far superior then Nikon's af-s in af speed.

  • This is an el-cheapo $75 lens with a plastic mount, so there is no USM in it. It uses a micromotor for focusing. Just a relatively silent one.
