Actually, the purpose of this episode was to inform about eating disorders, which was a topic of large concern when this was made. Every episode of Maxie's World taught some valuable lesson like being true to yourself, managing your time, or dealing with the death of a pet.
forget whether or she needs to lose weight. Ashley needs to gain some weight in her brains if she's too stupid to realize that she's looking into a fun house mirror.
Too cool I was sitting with the theme tune in my head about 3 months ago and asked people do you remember Maxies world (thought I thought it was spelt Maxi's world) nobody could remember it this proves I didnt make it up lol
@Fairia it did, the 80's -90's cartoon were way more serious than you think. Today it is just nonsense nothing really with substance. If you think back carefully these cartoon/shows in the previous years were a lot more mature, like the other person said it taught morality. Today cartoons dont really teach anything that is longlasting.
@SweeetCherryPieAyAy Well with topics that were discussed in various shows of the era, yes they were serious and alot need not be swept under the rug.
thank u! thank you! thank you! This was my favorite along w/ Ruthless People, and 16 candles. I've been looking for Maxie's world for years. I used to watch it everyday! Thank you!!!!
You gotta love the way animated shows of the 80's slipped in these PSA-inspired themes. Whether it was G.I. Joe, Thundercats, Jem, Ducktales, Maxie's World, etc. They constanstly schooled you in morality. What happened to this sort of intelligence & quality in today's animated shows? Most of the stuff I see my nieces & nephews watch is mindless, poorly animated, obnoxious dribble.
I don't really agree! The power of those eighties shows (except maybe Beverly Hills Teens or Jem) was that they had a good balance between morality and fun. Today's shows either have no morals (Dexter, Billy and Mandy) or are so moralistic that they aren't fun anymore (Lizzie Mc Guire, Doug).
@CitySon I'll agree with Ducktales and Thundercats, but COME ON! This is a poorly written, terribly animated, overly-preachy Mattel Lawsuit that never happened is one of the worst things that came out of animation. I see 1800 get rich quick scheme CGI commercials with more depth and professionalism.
I'm sorry, but the REAL golden age of animation, the late 40's-late 60's has this piece of junk beat.
I think I saw my brother watching this. Now he's in the military and has taken home more girls than I even knew existed. Meanwhile, I got fat, grew a mullet, had explosive acne and psoriasis and never kissed a girl until I was eighteen. And all because I failed to watch shows like Maxi and Jem.
I hope you're joking, because I don't like that comment. I think shows like Beverly Hills Teens (the most stupid duck in the pool!), Jem, Barbie and Maxie are just to play big and fabulous and to teach girls how to be 'cool' and materialistic. That's why I love Anime: It's also cool but it also talks about serious subjects and teaches valuable life lessons (except for Dragon Ball Z)
THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING EVER. BUT I LOVE MY MOM SO I AM NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES.If you don't copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours

It just hit me that the woman who voiced Maxie (Loretta Jafelice) also voiced Eugeal and Diana in Sailor Moon.
