M-Network is one of my all time favorite football games. It would be cool to hack this one and add punting and FG's. The new games are great and offer so much depth but one thing that made these old games fun was the fact that you could just pick up the joystick and play it. I played the latest NCAA for the PS3 against my Wife's nephew and it was ridiculous. He had to go in and set the audibles and change a bunch of settings. I'm like....LET"S JUST PLAY THE DAMN GAME!!!
Heh, I can barely tell what's happening in the first one :) I almost wonder if they spent too much time worrying about sprite animation in these, even if it helps with the feel of it.
The flicker is made worse by the rendered framerate, I've since refined my target rate to reduce the flickering to a point where at least you can see the characters most of the time, heh.
The flickering in the actual game is noticeable, but not this bad. Usually it just dims the sprite and gives it a bit of a wavering effect.

Nice compilation showing football go from almost unrecognizable to the same setup we have in modern football games

The Atari football crowd noise was the precursor to the annoying horns in world cup.
