I'm tired of stupid people talking about the era before and that it was more physical. they were less athletic, slower and there were less talent than there is now. i guess thats why "they were more physical" so stupid to even listen to those old has beens who cant let go of their past and continue to contradict themselves. pippen said jordan can score 45 ppg in this era then says that lebron is better then jordan after awhile? why isnt lebron scoring 45 ppg? such stupid comments

Look fellas.there both the great (Jordan & Kobe). One on One??? I don't see how either one would stop the other in their primes respectfully...Jordan's mid-range to inside games was a little better than Kobe's but Kobe's mid-range to outside was a little better than Jordans. Young Kobe's 3 ball was incredible!!! That's why he had higher point totals.. but the are both G.O.A.T.S
Man, so ironic that Kobe's first real career high came against his future teammate. I wonder if Pau was thinking at all that he would be playing with this guy 6 years down the road? Kobe ftw! One of the best ever!

Actually, Kobe has 33,000 minutes on his body at age 28. MJ had 24,000 at the same age. Kobe recently said "I may not be an old 28, but when I'm 31, I'll be an old 31." He knows he is running out of time, and still trails MJ miserably in every area of the game. He basically has no shot at MJ. Maybe top 15 though...

Jordan developped his fadeway in the late years. Kobe had it when he was much younger than MJ.
Kobe had a lot 50pt games in 3 quarters too. Kobe is a better long range shooter than MJ was.
There were a lot of ugly teams in the Jordan era..still, he never scored 81.
Jordan never scored 62 in 3 quarters. Kobe outscored the opposing team through 3 quarters. Jordan never made something like that. Kobe scored 42 in the 1st half once, 30 in a quarter twice & 55 in a 2nd half once.PERIOD.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Jordan was a smart player. He knew he didn't need to go off against horrible teams and didn't use them as an opportunity to pad his stats as much as KB does. He got his team involved much more than Kobe does against bad teams and usually went off more against good to great teams.
If you want to talk things one player has done that another hasn't, Kobe has 5 nba records, all shared. MJ has 69 nba records. Kobe's top rated season is #42 all time. MJ has 7 of the top 20. PERIOD.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, Kobe is not a better long range shooter. he is a slightly better career 3PT shooter 34% to 33%. Jordan was actually better and more consistent shooting within the arc. All the stats bear this out.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
All you mention is single games, and most of them the 81 pt game. Greatness is not determined by single regular season games against the worst defense in the league where you score 11 in trashtime. PERIOD.
@mamba9381 your right about some of those but look at the nba back then and look at it now see how much of a difference it is. Jordan era you can actually do hand checking which makes it harder for the offensive player, ugly teams back in Jordan era? did you not watch nba back then? Im a huge Kobe fan right now but jordan will always be number 1 to me. Jordan won 3 straight rings retire came back and won 3 more rings, Kobe didn't do that. now nba, you get touch a bit and its a foul man.
@mamba9381 MJ Used His Fadeway Since Rookie Year, MJ Over .500 FG% In Early Year That Why He Don't Need Fadeway Much.
You're About 29 Yrs Old I Wonder When You First Watch NBA Game, Have You Ever Watch 80' 90' NBA. If You Have The Guy Who Leader Of His Team Since He Came,5 MVP,6 Finals MVP,30.1 ppg, .497 fg% In The Times Toughest Defense In Nba History, Would You Trade For Kobe The Guy Who Never Ever Get Those Numbers Even He Play More Games And In His Time Defense Just Suck.
@mamba9381 Scoring isn't the measure of greatness. Kobe only set his scoring records with a bad team around him; that's OK, he had to. But I think both Kobe and Jordan set themselves apart with great defense, much like Wade and LeBron do now. Tmac is a great example of a player with no D but great offense.
Kobe lacked the era-changing power of Jordan - no player could do what Jordan did when he came into the league. MJ set a precedent that all players (including Kobe) follow today.
@mamba9381 You made this comment about three years ago, so it's a bit of a late reply lol. My question to you is, what is ur point? Sure, kobe has had some of the greatest single scoring explosions the game has ever seen, but what's ur point? David robinson scored 71 in a game, does that mean he's better than mike? Elgin baylor scored above 70, wilt had 100. one game doesn't mean anything. also, today's defensive rules are designed to allow players to get to the rim, hence they have to sag off..
which in turn means more open jumpers. in today's weak defensive game, a prime michael could score 100, cause there would be literally nothing u can do to stop him. u can't handcheck, so u have to sag off. but michael had the purest mid range jumper ever, so u had to respect it. also, no defensive 3 seconds, so no big men waiting for mike. a prime michael would TEAR UP today's nba for 40-45ppg no question. i hate the "well jordan never scored 81" arguement. so what? mike's career destroys kobe's
@koalalauncher No defensive 3 seconds? You must get your facts straight. Till this day there IS the defensive 3 second rule. In addition, in Jordan's era teams couldn't play a zone on defense because of the illegal defense rule but now defenders can sag off of any one they choose to (obviously the opponent's superstar) and force the offensive player to get rid of the ball. MJ is the greatest ever but Kobe can hold his own. You don't need to mess up the facts in order to prove MJ's greatness.
@koalalauncher BTW, Kobe has logged more minutes now @ 32 years of age than MJ did when he retired as a Bull in 99 @ the age of 36. Jordan had played 35,887 min at that time and Kobe has already played 40,145 minutes. Which begs the question, how tired would Kobe's legs look today if he had played the same amount of NBA minutes as Jordan did when he was 32? I won't even answer that, I'll leave it for all the Kobe haters to think of one!!
@klirshead im not a kobe hater first of all, i love kobe, he's one of the best to ever play the game. i don't understand ur point about the minutes. kobe has played more minutes already than jordan has, or basically as much, and his numbers arent even close. even if kobe does match mikes career points, he'll have done it in way more games, with way more shot attempts. don't be blinded with how good kobe is, it's makes it very easy to forget who the true goat is
@koalalauncher First of all if you read through my comment you can see me quote "MJ is the greatest ever...", therefore there is no argument about that. Second, my response was aimed to dismiss your lack of basketball knowledge or your possible attempt to mislead others with the assertion that Jordan could score more than 81 points in today's game because of the rules. Please do MJ and MJ fans a favor and don't argue for him again. It's pathetic because you make up shit and in turn put down Kobe
@klirshead and i rly don't care that mike never scored 81 or never scored 62 in 3 quarters, that doesnt mean a thing. kobe has never averaged 37 ppg while shooting 50% from the field like mike did. kobe's never averaged 3.5 steals in a season, mike has. kobe's never averaged 32ppg, 8 assists, and 8 brds in a season, mike has. and like i said, the rules were changed after mike left the game to open it up for perimiter players.
@koalalauncher MJ never averaged 31 ppg, 11.4 apg, and 12.5 rpg but Oscar Robertson DID. Does that make the Big O better than Jordan ?? Do MJ a favor and stop arguing to protect his greatness. The true MJ fan knows how great he is and doesn't even bother with the trivial BS!!
@klirshead so many fans today hate it when someone else brings up points to say the player they love isn't as good as another, and label them haters. grow up man, just cause i know michael is better than kobe doesn't mean im a hater, it just means i can see whats rite in front of me. kobe's one of the best, and arguably the player of the decade. but he aint mike, nor does he need to be. he's kobe, thats more than good enough
@klirshead i was responding to someone else who brought up mj. i dont just go to videos to argue unless i see a comment i find to be stupid, which i did
@mamba9381 lol why are you guys always so hung up on just scoring. come on there are a lot of things that jordan did that kobe never did too...lol i am not going to sit and type then all because even though kobe had some big regular season games jordan over all stats are still much better. your guys keep saying jordan did not play against tallent but todays NBA alot if guys dont know the game and they cant shoot the damn basketball. i love kobe but he is not better than jordan. not over all!
@mamba9381 I don't care what you say. Compare the era that Jordan had to play in with kobe's. Jordan's era was way more physical where you didn't bitch to get a foul call. Jordan can score 100 easy in today's era. Know your knowledge beofre making a blasphemous statement.
How does a 22 year old.. score 56 points IN ONLY 3 Quarters, Shoot for over 50%... Win the Game... And not get props from a so called "Basketball fan." if you have personal issues with Kobe thats fine.. If you dislike him, so be it. But how can you as a BASKETBALL FAN... not see the beauty in this game. If you ask me.. YOu arent really a basketball fan...
bruce blitz is just mad cuz jordan couldnt do this if his mothers life depended on it, i kno it hurts that kobe is clearly a better offensive player, BY A BIG GAP than jordan, its not even close, kobe is better by a very large margin
Incorrect. Kobe is not close to being a better offensive player. MJ scored 58 through 3 and has scored 50+ through 3 a number of times. Jordan averaged more pts, more consistent, higher FG%, higher true shooting %, higher effective FG%, higher pts per FGA. On every measure of offensive effectiveness, Jordan beats Kobe.
I'm tired of stupid people talking about the era before and that it was more physical. they were less athletic, slower and there were less talent than there is now. i guess thats why "they were more physical" so stupid to even listen to those old has beens who cant let go of their past and continue to contradict themselves. pippen said jordan can score 45 ppg in this era then says that lebron is better then jordan after awhile? why isnt lebron scoring 45 ppg? such stupid comments

this game, he almost definately would've gotten to 70 if he had gotten to play the fourth.
and in his 62 point game against dallas, he maybe could've beat his career high of 81.

Kobe has just shown he is a great VOLUME scorer, like George Gervin or Wilkins, nothing more...

Actually no, MJ had his fadeaway even in college. Jordan simply didn't have to use it as much early on bc he was so good at getting to the hoop.

PERIOD.

No, Kobe is not a better long range shooter. he is a slightly better career 3PT shooter 34% to 33%. Jordan was actually better and more consistent shooting within the arc. All the stats bear this out.

All you mention is single games, and most of them the 81 pt game. Greatness is not determined by single regular season games against the worst defense in the league where you score 11 in trashtime. PERIOD.

@mamba9381 its harder to score when their playing defense on you

@tankbukkake, of course thats true but in 2002 ppl knew Kobe would soon be a superstar down the road.
But no ne knew that it was taking place currently (in that time, 2002) except Shaq when he said
'Kobe is now the greatest player in the NBA'.
XBlackRose023X 1 year ago

Elgin baylor scored above 70, wilt had 100. one game doesn't mean anything. also, today's defensive rules are designed to allow players to get to the rim, hence they have to sag off..
koalalauncher 8 months ago
which in turn means more open jumpers. in today's weak defensive game, a prime michael could score 100, cause there would be literally nothing u can do to stop him. u can't handcheck, so u have to sag off. but michael had the purest mid range jumper ever, so u had to respect it. also, no defensive 3 seconds, so no big men waiting for mike. a prime michael would TEAR UP today's nba for 40-45ppg no question. i hate the "well jordan never scored 81" arguement. so what? mike's career destroys kobe's
koalalauncher 8 months ago
@koalalauncher No defensive 3 seconds? You must get your facts straight. Till this day there IS the defensive 3 second rule. In addition, in Jordan's era teams couldn't play a zone on defense because of the illegal defense rule but now defenders can sag off of any one they choose to (obviously the opponent's superstar) and force the offensive player to get rid of the ball. MJ is the greatest ever but Kobe can hold his own. You don't need to mess up the facts in order to prove MJ's greatness.
klirshead 7 months ago
@koalalauncher BTW, Kobe has logged more minutes now @ 32 years of age than MJ did when he retired as a Bull in 99 @ the age of 36. Jordan had played 35,887 min at that time and Kobe has already played 40,145 minutes. Which begs the question, how tired would Kobe's legs look today if he had played the same amount of NBA minutes as Jordan did when he was 32? I won't even answer that, I'll leave it for all the Kobe haters to think of one!!
klirshead 7 months ago
@klirshead im not a kobe hater first of all, i love kobe, he's one of the best to ever play the game. i don't understand ur point about the minutes. kobe has played more minutes already than jordan has, or basically as much, and his numbers arent even close. even if kobe does match mikes career points, he'll have done it in way more games, with way more shot attempts. don't be blinded with how good kobe is, it's makes it very easy to forget who the true goat is
koalalauncher 7 months ago
@koalalauncher First of all if you read through my comment you can see me quote "MJ is the greatest ever...", therefore there is no argument about that. Second, my response was aimed to dismiss your lack of basketball knowledge or your possible attempt to mislead others with the assertion that Jordan could score more than 81 points in today's game because of the rules. Please do MJ and MJ fans a favor and don't argue for him again. It's pathetic because you make up shit and in turn put down Kobe
klirshead 7 months ago
@klirshead and i rly don't care that mike never scored 81 or never scored 62 in 3 quarters, that doesnt mean a thing. kobe has never averaged 37 ppg while shooting 50% from the field like mike did. kobe's never averaged 3.5 steals in a season, mike has. kobe's never averaged 32ppg, 8 assists, and 8 brds in a season, mike has. and like i said, the rules were changed after mike left the game to open it up for perimiter players.
koalalauncher 7 months ago
@koalalauncher MJ never averaged 31 ppg, 11.4 apg, and 12.5 rpg but Oscar Robertson DID. Does that make the Big O better than Jordan ?? Do MJ a favor and stop arguing to protect his greatness. The true MJ fan knows how great he is and doesn't even bother with the trivial BS!!
klirshead 7 months ago
@klirshead so many fans today hate it when someone else brings up points to say the player they love isn't as good as another, and label them haters. grow up man, just cause i know michael is better than kobe doesn't mean im a hater, it just means i can see whats rite in front of me. kobe's one of the best, and arguably the player of the decade. but he aint mike, nor does he need to be. he's kobe, thats more than good enough
koalalauncher 7 months ago
@koalalauncher Well then I guess the same argument can be applied to yourself. You are after all bringing up MJ while on a Kobe video !!
klirshead 7 months ago
@klirshead i was responding to someone else who brought up mj. i dont just go to videos to argue unless i see a comment i find to be stupid, which i did
koalalauncher 7 months ago
@mamba9381 lol why are you guys always so hung up on just scoring. come on there are a lot of things that jordan did that kobe never did too...lol i am not going to sit and type then all because even though kobe had some big regular season games jordan over all stats are still much better. your guys keep saying jordan did not play against tallent but todays NBA alot if guys dont know the game and they cant shoot the damn basketball. i love kobe but he is not better than jordan. not over all!
TheRasprauve30 6 months ago

YOu arent really a basketball fan...

bruce blitz is just mad cuz jordan couldnt do this if his mothers life depended on it, i kno it hurts that kobe is clearly a better offensive player, BY A BIG GAP than jordan, its not even close, kobe is better by a very large margin
caliplaya818 4 years ago
