  • This is the Stuart Zender version. The CD release version is by a different bassist named or referred to as "Mr. X"

I believe they were tracking the album about the same time Zender had gone on vacation to propose and or marry his wife. This is one of the reasons Stu was fairly agitated with Jay Kay because of the commencement of hiring another bassist specifically for this song...

  • This is actually the ORIGINAL VERSION, but never made it to the album... But the tempo is much faster than the version on the album...

  • Possibly the best song ever

  • 5 people have never been high.

  • WHO PLAYED BASS ON THIS VERSION????

  • @swetroniusz if im not mistaken stuart zender

  • i had this super-rare single version but... sigh!! 's been stolen!! WTF

  • siempre descubro algo nuevo de estos monstruos...

    otra buena version

  • Very Nice!!!!

Good Times and Good Vibes for EVERYONE!

    It's 4:20 Somewhere...pass it on;)....*cough*

  • YEAH I LIKE!

  • so lit to this...it keeps your high up..

  • bellissima!!!!!!

  • If your're out of weed dont fear simply play this song, its a drug in and of itself.

  • 2:18 best bass lick ever!!!!

  • forte Jamiroquai

  • The awesome thing 'bout this song is that it makes you feel high even when you didn't smoke anything :P

  • Zender truly owns. If he was around to play on the album version... just imagine how amazing that would be! I wish one day Zender could come back to Jamiroquai for like a reunion gig...

  • stoned again version is really good...smoke-o-rific!!!!

  • this song is the best ever! and this version is just so powerfull! really really enjoy it!!!

  • Mmm, my favourite version of this song.

  • I got Traveling without moving CD yesterday for a quid, Swear that albums for getting stoned, the middle tracks from "Drifting along" are followed by the Digeridoo section aaah yes!

  • stoned again on chiba chiba remix!

  • I think the song's called "Stoned Again remix" because its much MUCH slower.

  • I don't see much difference in the fundamental tempo. It probably has something to do with the lack of certain musical instruments that add to the pacing of the song.

  • @MacraStraba Yeah, if anything it's a little faster. There's a lot more guitar in this version, and a tambourine.

It's not so much of a remix anyway, more of a version with Zender playing on it.

  • @Benjajinj im pretty sure this is the original, even though its presented as if it were a remix

  • It's called Stoned Again because rhey recorded that second version with Stuart Zender. The album version was recorded with an unknown bassist, named "Mister X"

  • @MacraStraba Good call. Not many people notice simple differences like that. Take away something, add something... You could have a totally different song!

  • @MacraStraba this version has guitar, and a different drum rhythm.

  • Stoned again means recorded again.

  • @TwilightMao and much longer.

and the bass player is different on this version.

he couldnt make it to the video shoot for this song, so they got someone else to replay it and they just made a totally unique recording. similar, almost identical..but two different bass players

  • @TwilightMao nah bro, its just slower to you because you got fuckin HIGH!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH, LONG LIVE Jamiroquai

  • @TwilightMao this is the same bpm

  • I LOVE DIS SONG......OG KUSH

  • Can anyone tell me where can I download the HQ version? I would really love to have it thx

  • I found it on iTunes!

  • This song is awesome.

  • space cowboy is the only song i like by jamiroquai, i used to like it when it was live until they added female vocals that really mess it up.

  • You are totally right

  • you need to listen to more of their early stuff If you like this song you'll like others like too young to die, mr moon, traveling without moving etc

  • CHIBA!!! CHIBA!!!! XD

  • So this whole song is about weed?

  • Yup. There's more to it than that but yeah.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah is it ^^

  • @WildShadow8 for JK it is, but he's mentioned that the song represents the best feeling for the individual... for him its cannabis, and same goes for many people, and sometimes its dancing, or singing, or reading a book, the space cowboy is a metaphor or a symbol for euphoria.

  • This is the best version, i think.

What a funky bass, i can't believe that it was played by only 20 years old boy.

    S. Zender is an extraordinary bassist..

  • Zender only had two years of experience when he joined Jamiroquai.

  • The best version of this song to date i wish they had this single extended version on the album so much better than the album version but i like both i can't complain

  • Goddamn, I love Jamiroquai. Just so damn nice and relaxing to hear.

Feels like soul for people who'd rather be listening to funk. Great stuff.

  • This song could go on forever and I'd be happy with that :-)

  • Their first 3 albums are awesome.

Sykronized is also good but they didn't sound the same, they went a bit commercial with that album.

Fortunately it was a success in the US and made it to no 1.

They went slightly commercial with The Funk Odyssey which had a few good songs and then they released Dynamite which wasn't instrumantal enough and as a whole sounded pretty corny.

I hope they go back to their old sound with their new cd and forget about being popular in the US, they rock regardless.

  • I love all their music. I don't mind that they became a bit more commercial. I don't think we could ask for a total blast from the past with their new album, but maybe now that they have finished with Sony we will hear a few more songs like this on their new CD. Jay Kay thinks it's his best yet, so that's a good sign!

  • I couldn't agree more. I love the stuff from the 90s and the more recent stuff. They're an awesome band. I just want to hear new stuff and hope hope hope they tour America some time soon!

  • they toured alot in the early 90s in America. i was only 3 at the time so all i knew how to do was walk and beat Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on my Sega Genesis

  • in order for them to go back to their new sound, they need Wallis Buchannen, Nick Smith, and Stuart Zender. you get them with Jay again, DUDE they would rock the casbar.

  • by far the best version of this track- a hybrid of the radio edit and album version- genius!

  • You can see how much better the song developed in the album version. From 4.53-5.25 of the album version of Space Cowboy is MAGICAL, where everything slows and silences. I only wish a version existed with that synth section extended for a minute or so

  • To each of his own. Personally, I just wanted to put this version up simply because I didn't find it on JewTube before, and I actually have this version (as well as the album version). Gotta cover all grounds.

  • Nah, I really am thankful you put it up, if you didn't I would still be unaware of its existence, so I must thank you for doing so. Did you continue to follow Jamiroquai after this album? I think they kinda went downhill post Return (again, personal opinion only, not trying to convince anyone otherwise)

  • I can never tell. I only started recognising Jamiroquai when the Virtual Insanity music video was in common circulation, and only got to know them better a year after Synkronized was out. To be frank, there are songs I like and don't like in albums before and after Stuart Zender left, but I generally like certain Jamiroquai songs from each of their albums.

  • this is the Space Cowboy version, along with the single version which is SLIGHTLY different, that Stuart Zender did the bass. The studio version was done by somebody else. I can't recall. It says it in my CD booklet from 1994, but i cant remember

  • Mr. X =))

  • @MacraStraba JewTube.. are you a spastic now?

  • @adrianwaj That's two years ago. These days I call YouTube "a business".

  • Where can I get this track? please.

    StuarT ROCKS!!!

  • Get the LP, or resort to less legal options.

  • Zender rox! Still can't quite grasp why JK couldn't wait a couple more days in order to record the album version of Space Cowboy with Stu and had to recruit "Mr X" instead...

Mr Zender is definitely one of the missing ingredients in Jamiroquai's "modern" (post 99) sound; a piece of the puzzle that has gone and took away with it the unique vibe in Jamiroquai's sound. Just compare Mr Moon to Hot Tequila Brown (*puke*) and you'll know what I'm talking about... "So where has the love all gone..."

  • Word. I kinda dug the Mr. X version though. but very nicly put.

  • Thanks Mike :) Sure, after all Mr. X pretty much plays along in Zender style, so that his omission is not THAT obvious. But still... to me, Stu is one of the main reasons why I loved that ol school funk Jamiroquai sound so much back in the 90s.

Wonder if they (he) will ever find a way back to their roots?

  • Aye...Emergency, ROTSC and TWM are unsurpassed in their career. Stu was the soul inside of Jamiroquai.

  • search on joolz25 for the bass playing ... ... very cool.

  • never heard before,i like it! :D

  • I love this song
