He had a line, a few years ago on NBC, talking about when he goes to the 49er head offices as a journalist, he stops by the team trophy case and says hello to "his" super bowl trophies (the ones the 49ers won at his expense). And as he did so he acted out meekly waving and saying good bye to them on the way out.

Surely exaggerating for humor, but it probably is hard enough wondering What Might Have Been as all guys on all losing teams must, without having to look at the actual Trophies.

yeah it has to sting. All good players want the trophy so they can become greats. People know Cris Collinsworth for his commenting not that he was a pretty damn good WR. But whatever he has a great play commentator job now and could be one of the best football announcers in football ever one day.
