I love Elena Rogers! She is absolutely amazing! Not only does she look like Eva Peron, but she hits the high notes with ease without screaming, like Patti LuPone. I hate saying that, because I LOVE Patti, but she did best in Sunset Boulevard, definately the best Norma Desmond. The only thing about this video that is bad is the fact the Elena isn't really singing. This is the EXACT song from the 2006 London Cast CD. Trust me, I love Evita and I know exactly how she sang in the CD.
fab voice and im sure if madonna hadnt been pregnant when filming this is wot the choreography for this song would have looked like for the film version
The woman's name is Elena Roger and she is Argentinian and she has an EXTREMELY thick accent. Andrew Lloyd Webber and the other producers found her in Argentina. She was a star there, gracing the stage, and they wanted her to play Eva. She's got a gorgeous voice, and she's an amazing dancer, and her accent is KILLER!
Oh my god, i remember when our school (along with many other schools also) had to sing this and other mixes of songs from teh musical. Memorizing the lyrics were such a pain, cuz its like saying a tongue twister but singing
I saw this in London at the Aldelphi in September she was amazing. I've seen a fair few west end shows and this was by far one of the best. The set was clever and the dances were full of energy. I Love it.
It's a shame she had to mime - I saw this when it opened and she was virtually incomprehensible but it didn't matter, her dancing and pure energy was just fantastic to watch. I can't imagine having an English Eva after this. It also looks better here than at the Adelphi, where the stage is too big for the tiny ensemble.
Thank you for posting this! I saw the show in London this summer and it was wonderful, but this song in particular I remember being absolutely outstanding. The choreography kicks ass; it gave me chills when I first saw it. So glad to get to see it again!
it was awful she should look in the mirror before miming, surely she should have sung live her voice would have been still warmed up after her performance, but judging this i think i will give it a miss, give me WICKED any day.
Lol! No no, she CAN sing guys, she's amazing! In this performance she was miming along to the CD soundtrack from what I've heard, as were most of the other acts that appeared on Children in Need that night, its got nothing to do with talent...just the way the night was planned out I suppose...(Although other things like Wicked and Avenue Q were sung live, lol!)
amazing!

Shame she's miming in the clip, but I went to see this for my 18th birthday in September and it was amazing with it all done live.
