as long as videos like these still exist and people still watch them and apply the concepts within, jazz will never die! it is only going to grow more and more as people continue to study it and apply it and further advance into different new and equally fresh and good sounds!
ahh thats so cool cause i got to meet her like last year sometime.. she's so chill.. she's a small woman with sooooo much power behind her. just pure amazing
Yes the flute is played by Bobby Jaspar. He was a Belgian musician, born in 1926 in Liège, passed away in '63 in NY. He played the saxophone (he liked the tenor best), the clarinet and the flute. Besides, he had an engineer's degree of chemics.
Thank you very much for uploading these shows. Besides the incredibly swinging playing it is really cool to see and hear Doc Severisen at such an early age.
I recently found an album of music played by Berklee students that was recorded when Ms. Akiyoshi was a student there. She was the pianist/composer/arranger of music. (Stop drooling, it's most unbecoming!)
And yes, her daughter Monday Michiru is... just wonderful!!
dam this guys swing

Haha, she's great! I love how she grimaces just the slightest bit whenever she slips.
