Joe did not see the incident first hand, so he had no idea if the student that reported it was lying or not. If he had gone directly to the police and Sandusky had in fact done nothing, then his reputation would've been ruined forever. He did the right thing, the person he reported the incident to is the one to blame. RIP Joepa, you will be missed

He did the right thing, the person he reported to failed. If he had actually seen sandusky rape the child, then by all means he should've gone to the police immediately. but he didn't because he didn't see it so he couldn't be 100% sure
