WKYC has picked up the rights to the Ohio Lottery from WEWS and they will be showing the nightly lottery drawings and Cash Explosion instead of WEWS starting next month.
I watched CE when it came on WTOV in Stubenville, but I think that, by that time, they switched over to the Double Play.
From this, though an interesting format, I'm glad they changed it. There were more than enough people that seemed to be bored with the game's first format that it seemed to be a good decision.
@bhilcu1 Jim Pitcock was the announcer. Bob Grossi and Sharon Bicknell each reference him by name several times throughout the course of this program.
The gameplay was very different than the one used today with the randomizer with the word double and selecting letters P, L, A, and Y with four contestants and three turns.

I wonder who was the announcer on Cash Explosion before John E. Douglas!

Wow, what a find! I remember the original theme song; does anyone know whether it was written for the show or a piece of stock music?

@cosmowanda868 I can't answer your question, but the theme sure has a late-eighties sound to it. It's cheesy by today's standards.

I recall often seeing this on WBNS-10TV back when I was little.

Oh, my God! Look at Oprah's hair! The '80s were NOT kind to her at ALL.

I see WEWS pre-empted (or moved back) Nightline in favor of ET back then. Very smart. That must have competed with Johnny Carson a lot better.

I think they played those Eagle Supermarket spots either before or after the Pick 3 drawings back in the day.
