English sounds a lot like Dutch because it's a Germanic language with linguistic roots similar to Dutch/Danish/Swedish/Norwegian/Icelandic/German. But since English was mixed with Roman languages like French and Latin (from the Roman occupation onwards, and later the Norman invasions which created a Norman/French speaking upper class in England), it sounds slightly different then the other Germanic languages.
Could you please upload the "Plagues" video, with subtitles and translation? I have seen you do a great work with both the Prince of Egypt and the Hunchback of Notre Dame! flimpjesmaster has uploaded the Plagues but with lyrics only for Moses and Ramesses... Please? :)
@starsoverthere Dream on... It's one of the hardest languages to learn for foreigners because we can make sounds you can't... That, and our grammar is too hard for anyone to do ever right... Alot of the DUTCH people constantly make mistakes, so I guess you can't say it will be easy for you.
And Dutch is veeeery different from English grammatically:
Ik ben in Kenia geweest en daar heb ik een Gnoe gezien.
I am in Kenya been and there have I a Wildebeest seen.
@justforflag2 German have also other annotations that dutch. The word 'het, de ' or 'the' in english can be written in 3 differents terms in german. Der, das and die. But if you know a bit of german, you can recgonize some Dutch words. Like 'middernacht' and 'mitternacht' that both mean 'midnight' but some words are completely different from Dutch. The two languages are alike -but not the same- because it a germanic language. Other germanic languages is also for an example Swedish.
Wow, I completely forgot about this movie. Very intimidating song and version. Actually I think the "little boy" part fits very well with their point. ...well, yes, like you said actually.
een heel mooie film, alleen jammer dat de rol van aron verkleind is. Normaal is het Aron die de stok veranderd en die de farao oproept om zijn volk te laten gaan. Mozes kon immers niet zo goed rede voeren als Aron.
I had completely forgotten that this song exists. Now I see what you meant with "by the names of..." and it works perfectly. I love the line "little boy is playing with fire." It's so much more appropriate and fitting than the English "playing with the big boys" which I think is mostly embarassing and tragicomic.
This is my favorite version.

I love the metaphoric use of the term "het vuur". It's well thought. Besides, Moses' voice in Dutch is pretty great !

I´m Dutch and the grammar is very difficult.
xStelmaria is right there are many dutch people make mistakes with the grammar. also me and I´m born in The Netherlands
But talking is no problem for me.
but I think for english people the hardest part is our letter a .
in many word this is diffecult to say for english people.
aamber1992 10 months ago
@aamber1992 wat dacht je dat het woord 'er' moeilijk is? xD Want daar is niet eens een vertaling van ;p

If I know part German, would it be easy to understand Dutch? Because they seem alike.

also, 'the little boy plays with fire' is an expression in dutch, as in 'don't play with fire'. it means something like be careful, or else....

ZombieBrenda666 2 years ago
jezus XD had de tekst nóg meer kunnen verschillen van het Engels?
DeidaralovesSoraya 2 years ago
tja het heeft allebei dezelfde betekenis
kleine jongen speelt met vuur of playing with the big boys kan beide betekene handelen met iets dat je niet aankan
dus ja(is mijn mening hoor)
BBfan14 2 years ago 6
Je speelt nu met de grote jongens past verder ook niet echt op het ritme van het lied.
Kendeelyoung 2 years ago
inderdaad =)
BBfan14 2 years ago
lol, ze zeggen de kleine jongen speelt met vuur, maar ze zijn zelf kleiner dan mozes. XD
ProgGirl18 2 years ago 2
met klein bedoelen ze waarschijnlijk jonger en onervaren :) mor als ge het letterlijk neemt gaat het natuurlijk inderdaad niet op :D

Hebrew and Hebrews are nouns, I think it was correct to write it as you did, that's how it is also in the Hebrew version itself. "I'm a Hebrew" :)
The lyrics are very mordant, more than the original. I really liked the voices too!
DISCOnnected90 3 years ago 2
this for sure cured one of my headaches!
Hebreeuw - a Hebrew
Hebreeërs - Hebrews (atleast this is my guess...)
I'm glad you enjoyed the it ^^
