also gundams and other fragile ultra fast and complex mechs are no match against a mech from mechwarrior, a battletech mech has so much armor that a gundam couldnt even put a dent in it, a gundam wold probably go critical from a couple autocannon or ppc shots! probably one heavy gauss rifle will blow it up.

@caseywerwolf a rifleman was built for something like that, and somethig probably more powerful 2. it has a targeting system fast enough to target a NEXT and Gauss rifles and lbx 20s to plow straight through that shit like it was made of butter. the rifleman has overall powerful endo steel plating which i think could probably take no damage from radiation! and other projectiles like machine guns, etc. , speed isn't everything you know, i could target you and blow you out of the sky. so bring it.

sorry it the other way around. gundams and such are unrealistic and impossible. battletech, armored core almost seem possible so they are built with logic. gundams have enormous firepower, soem have force field that can with stand anything and they even have light sabers. nothing could ever beat a gundam. nothing in the mech world. they are to unrealitic.
@orkkilla5589 i bet that no mech can match a Mobile Suit's mobility or agility, and also their variation. maybe that you know too little about MS's capability, cause it doesn't matter if you have the thickest armor in the field because any mech is bound to have a weak spot in their armor.
and most importantly, mechs have ZERO melee/close combat capability and MS(mostly) are built for high speed close combat, which is exactly the mech's largest weakness

@orkkilla5589 some one mention in the comment below, the MS originate from combat space suits developed by space colonists, which seek their independence form the earth federation(EF). After a decade of secret research, the combat space was being put on extended exoskeleton, powerful thrusters, load with every weapon they thought of and even a fusion/fission reactor.
@orkkilla5589 and since the colonists are going to fight the EF on multiple fronts, they had to be multipurpose units(that could take on starfighters and battleships in space and tanks and infantry on ground, while the EF still hadn't developed its MS), hence the space suit had become the 18 meter tall mobile suit(100~80m MS were seldom used as weapons of mass destruction, latter generation suits become smaller(16m) due to success in miniaturization of key parts without sacrificing performance)

Most of the current generation metrosexual or underage gundam pilots (and really any current real robot mecha anime ace pilots) are so use to dashing and flying around taking out mass produced mechs that seem to have tin foil as armor. Match them and the units of their pathetic excuses for armies against good battletech lances or clan stars and you will see most of them crumble!

Gundam have star wars type weapons and armor so they will beat anything. they have rapid fire beam cannons that can take out a city. 00 raiser has a sword that can cut a space station from earth. so gundam will destroy most meachs.

i actually love gundam for what it is. but i like Appleseed, ghost in the shell because they have the most realistic mecha followed by armored core, and chrome hounds. but I'm a mecha fan and it's all good. Yup. If you like his stuff it's well worth watching too. Either on DVD or via a decent quality download. It would spoil it to watch it on a low quality streaming site.
There's a sequel too, but I won't actually recommend that one. It's still fun to watch for the action, but is otherwise a rather ridiculous cash cow with a retarded story line and goes just a bit too far away from reality. (The armour suits start using lasers and final fantasy-esq swords. Very silly, and not "Shirow" at all.)
The mechs in Chromehounds and Mechwarrior/battletech are closer to what one would see in reality than what you mentioned. They could very well be future military weapons once the issue of power was dealt with because a mechwarrior mech could easily be controlled almost like a plane.
Which is why I prefer them over their Japanese counterparts,Don't get me wrong,anything related to giant robots that blow crap up Is Awsome to me,but Mechwarrior/battletech is one I really like in particular.
@1994chocolatemilk The main hindrance to real-world based mechanized powered armor is going to be the weight bearing issues and the lack of a proper power supply. Simply put, we have no flipping idea how to revolutionize current power sources, it's going to take a damn miracle. It's the the main reason for the slow down of human technological progression.
@Masterofspades Yeah I know, I just recently learned about the physics that would really keep a giant robot from being effective, I already knew that they would be ineffective in most combat applications except as a heavy weapons platform. Of course the square-cube law will be the biggest hurdle even if the energy problem was dealt with. Powered armor for the infantry is still a good shot though, Starship Troopers, here we come! (energy still an issue though)

And if I recall, now that I think about it, you've got a newer Draconis mech (one I dont recall caring much for either) in here somewhere that looks a lot like the typical giant robot samurai that the japanese love to sprinkle in their mecha shows.

following what is given about the gundams its phsyically impossible for them to do more than half of what they do in the series - especially on gasoline engines and normal liquid-propellant boosters. battletech goes into a huge amount of detail to explain how things work. check out the Tech-Manual its got descriptions on everything in the game. and how to make custom units from scratch
battle sutes will come first and after they have been out for a while they will start to make them bigger till they r mech size...and after that the world will b screwed
mechs will start being built on low gravity worlds where a tank is harder to use. then as the technology improves it will move to higher gravity worlds. thats what i think at least.

@DigitalPerfectionCS battletech is the most realistic. Simple lunging walking weapons of war. Chromehounds is basically battletech's slow moving mechs + armored core's customization.

u no mechs walkers can carry more equipment then a humanoid right i think that walkers will be the slower ground based heavy gunners that can gun anything down humanoid can change out guns but they cant hold any internal ammo and feed it guns walkers can. ima thinking ove 3 types of mechs would be use the fast as crap light weight melers that carry no guns cause their fas as crap a mix of humanoid and walker parts. Yup. If you like his stuff it's well worth watching too. Either on DVD or via a decent quality download. It would spoil it to watch it on a low quality streaming site.
There's a sequel too, but I won't actually recommend that one. It's still fun to watch for the action, but is otherwise a rather ridiculous cash cow with a retarded story line and goes just a bit too far away from reality. (The armour suits start using lasers and final fantasy-esq swords. Very silly, and not "Shirow" at all.)

The mechs in Chromehounds and Mechwarrior/battletech are closer to what one would see in reality than what you mentioned. They could very well be future military weapons once the issue of power was dealt with because a mechwarrior mech could easily be controlled almost like a plane.

@1994chocolatemilk The main hindrance to real-world based mechanized powered armor is going to be the weight bearing issues and the lack of a proper power supply. Simply put, we have no flipping idea how to revolutionize current power sources, it's going to take a damn miracle. It's the the main reason for the slow down of human technological progression.

@Masterofspades Yeah I know, I just recently learned about the physics that would really keep a giant robot from being effective, I already knew that they would be ineffective in most combat applications except as a heavy weapons platform. Of course the square-cube law will be the biggest hurdle even if the energy problem was dealt with. Powered armor for the infantry is still a good shot though, Starship Troopers, here we come! (energy still an issue though)

Uh, 90% sure it's Deunan. I have no idea what to look for, I've only ever seen the movies. Pretty sure that picture is a cover art for the manga or something with the manga.

The art is for the card "Arc-Royal Defense Cordon", but I don't think the mechs are piloted by anyone special. They're just the favorite mech of each faction. Besides, Phelan piloted a Wolf Hound, not a timber wolf.

following what is given about the gundams its phsyically impossible for them to do more than half of what they do in the series - especially on gasoline engines and normal liquid-propellant boosters. battletech goes into a huge amount of detail to explain how things work. check out the Tech-Manual its got descriptions on everything in the game. and how to make custom units from scratch

mechs will start being built on low gravity worlds where a tank is harder to use. then as the technology improves it will move to higher gravity worlds. thats what i think at least.
