  • John Candy for the win. "Where's the girl?"

  • This song could be allegory for life in general.

I grew up with this movie since i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS with Vampire Hunter D, Rock and Rule, American Pop and Robot Carnival thanks to TV Guide and one of my favorites since then. This movie influenced many movies over the years including Avatar and The Fifth Element, this is one of Cameron's favorite animated movies and used it as one of the inspirations and elements for his new movie.

Thanks for info. I remember going to see it at the movie theater when released.

Always loved the soundtrack- aspect of using Contemporary Rock-Metal in a film.

One of the reasons I also liked Maximum Overdrive as a teenager.

Don't forget the magical and soaring score by Elmer Bernstein which just lifts your spirits. Do you also remember Rock and Rule, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Lightyears, Warriors of the Wind (the 1985 New World Pictures butchery of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind), Pink Floyd The Wall, Fire and Ice etc.? other cool 80's animated movies for adults

  • @Johnlindsey289

No do not recall any of those. But Pink Floyd's Wall most definitely and the Dark Crystal

DId you ever see Heavy Metal on TBS? It was amazing. And by amazing I mean cut up so horribly it made no sense. Like, it was 45 minutes long.....

  • @fiveways

Yes and it wasn't until 96 when i was 15 i finally got the movie on video as it was uncut/uncensored and i also bought the CD soundtrack, it was nice to see my fave toon babe naked especially with those white pubes known as Taarna. TBS did cut it to bits and the same for Vampire Hunter D, remember that one? luckily i rented VHD a year later to see it uncut/uncensored, it was great.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Great music, lyrics by BOC. Thanks for the heads-up on Cameron's regard for the "Heavy Metal" movie. Understandable why he took to it. I've always wanted to see it. Really cool elements. Just never got around to it. Now I will.
