  • when i put the key back on, its stuck down... it doesn't click up like the rest of the keys... help...

  • I need help only the "g" key popped off and everything else stayed attached except the key and i used this method but, everytime i press the right bottom corner of it it pops back off again? D;

  • Wow, cheers. I've had the V, B and N key off my keyboard for a while now and couldn't fix it. We just fixed it and now I'M SO GLAD I CAN ACTUALLY TYPE PROPERLY.

    Thanks again!

  • thank's a lot :)

  • Okay! So the pieces that come under the key, the white things, came off with the key! They're still attached to it but the whole thing isn't attached to the keyboard! What do I do?!

  • @WarThemedRevolution Just pull the white tabs out of the key.. They should be just snapped in place and come out quite easily, just don't break off the hinge tabs.

  • I have something like sticky under the key connector things, but i can't figure out how to take the connectors off. Help me?

  • just open on screen keyboard till your keyboard fixed like i am

  • yugfuyghbgytxrftyfu76rt6ty8h7t6r678gtgyftyrydf7g8uiyfghjkgjhkjlgfuygftygcyb ytcyxrseaqwq4ryetredtyfukyiguo889689iohugifytdyj

  • Hi. My C button works fine, but the plastic thing between the button and the metal stuff is bugging me, to i decided to take it all up and start over again. But they do not want to 'click together' as easy like you do, i need an answer asap :( i dont know how this happpend, all in a sudden it began being a little bit bouncy to press on...

  • HELP ME! HOW DO I FIX THE BACKSPACE KEY?!?!?!

  • Hi I am having a problem I am a gamer and somtimes in the middle of games my keyboard will stop responding like usual. For example if i hit 1 it will open up internet explorer and 2 will open microsoft word.It does not only happen with my numpad but any letter will open a program on my computer and minimize my game.Is this a problem with my laptop or my beyboard. PS this happens with my usb keyboard and the standard one on the laptop

  • @OGKpressure You run Windows 7? Windows 7 (and maybe Vista too, idk) has several hot-keys you can use to open programs.. Usually you have to hold down the Windows key at the same time though. Windows key + 1 opens the first program on your start bar (right next to your start menu), 2 starts the next, etc. If this isn't your case, then I don't know what your computer's problem could be... Keyboard software maybe?

  • @OGKpressure Windows key + E opens Windows Explorer, + D shows the desktop (minimize all programs), + R opens the Run Command...

  • @AK49BWL where you buyed one of these little pieces under the keyboard

  • Thanks....it works!...,i promise to never smash my keyboard ever again.....:)

  • eeeeeeee!!!!!YAY

  • dang how do you change the 2 top clickers on the laptop in front of the track pad I have a messed up one can you rplace them or tighten them some how?

  • my part that links the key to the key board got damaged is there anywhere i can buy a new one?

  • @vegito89000 Possibly a computer repair shop in your area, otherwise you'll have to look online... Ebay sells them, you just have to make sure you get the right one for your laptop.

  • manicure

  • hey can you help me? when i was playing a game on my laptop my dog jumped into my lap and well a key fell off. it was a k key and when it fell off it took the little white square thing with it. is there a way to get it back on? because i thing one of the things that held down the key broke because when i try to push it back into place it wont grip it. any suggestions?

  • I reay need hep, this ooks so stupid. Basicy the etter after "k" on my aptop just stopped working as you can see. I reay need it for writing essays and shit, any ideas?

  • @crunkyfunkyspunky Sounds like your key may have bitten the dust... Or maybe something got underneath the key and isn't allowing it to press fully? Pry the key off (if it isn't already) and see if there's anything stuck in there.. If not, I'm afraid there's not much in the way I can help, sorry.

  • Ugh, I knocked off the shift key. I can't find a single video for it.

  • Thanks so much.

  • thanks so much i bearly got my laptop and my x fell off but i fixed it if my mom found out i would be dead

  • Thank You! I just lifted my cat off my hubby's keyboard and two keys came with her. Your helpful video allowed me to fix it before realizing the dilemma.

  • @vmviola You're speaking to a cat person, so I know much of this dilemma... LOL!

  • I love your site so much!!!!!!!!

  • Its my spacebar, it wont go on!

  • Have you ever washed under your fingernails?

  • Thank-You so much,My squirrel grabbed my #2 button right off my keyboard yesterday, and I tried for an hour to put it back on..Thank you again....

  • the escape key is a bit different on mine...

  • Thanks alot man for your helpe!!!!

  • My puppy ran over my laptop, popping off the L keycap, I have a HP laptop, i can't get the cap to stop popping off. I pushed down hard to see if it snapped back into place, and it didn't. I don't know what to do...anyone?

  • @SteveIsBrootal Check to see if the tabs are still on the bottom of the key.... One or both may have snapped off, in which case you'll need to get a new key, or replace it with one you don't use as often. I broke my V key a while back making another video, and replaced it with the right-click key next to the right side Ctrl key.

  • @AK49BWL I've got the same problem, and I have all of the tabs on the key. It just won't go back on.

  • PLEASE HELP!!!!!! My T key popped off and the little turny thingy on it was stuck to the key so i popped it off, and I placed it on the original key place, but when I go to type with the T key, it gets out of place and it usually comes off the keyboard. so PLEACE i would appreciate it if you would reply and tell me what to do! THANK YOU!!!

  • Oh my god, thank you for this video! I was playing with my new laptop, noticing I'd dropped a few crumbs on it already. :( So I figured I'd pop off one of the keys so I could assess how to clean the keyboard like I knew I would inevitably have to. Imagine my dilemma when I couldn't figure out how to put the key back on. D: But your video saved me! So again, thank you!

  • erererererrerererererererrererererererrererererererererrerererererrere yessssssss my two keys that took me like 2 hours!!! thankss

  • What do you do if the rubber thingy breaks off? When you buy the single key does it like come with those those things with the indentations and the rubber thing?

  • @FaceToYouReality When you buy the key, it should come with the hinges (the things with the tabs), however if the rubber cap has come off, that's not easily replaced and you may have to replace the keyboard entirely. However, if you can find some double-sided tape, cut it down to the size of the rubber cap, and you should be able to stick it back in place and have it work.

  • My ' * Wont come back on!

  • My left shift was not working properly and I decided to puss it a little and well...guess what happened, then I freaked out. Thanks to that and your video, my key is back to the right place and working perfectly!

  • Thankyou! Took me like an hour, but i got it! thankyou sooo much

  • Thanks.It was very helpful.

  • i cant get the 2 plastc things together ;s

  • MY FINGERS ARE WAY TOO BIG

  • all i can say is thank you thank you thank you!!!!

  • OKAY, I did exactly how this guy showed me...but my key still slips out whenever I press on it or try to use it....so wtf?

  • i keep trying to put my ctrl key back on and every time i think i got it , and i try it it falls off again .. do i keep tryin or what can i do ?

  • @LauraK2k8 I had that problem with my V key.. I accidentally broke the hinge connection on the underside of the key, so you may want to check that... If it's not broken, be sure you're sliding the top of the key over the hinges correctly - the key tabs may not be catching the hinges. Beyond that... I can't be sure.

  • @AK49BWL it seems ok the top to are catching but the bottom to arent ,,, thanks anyway ,, :) im goin to get my brothers friend to take alook he's good with this stuff :)

  • @LauraK2k8 i have the same problem..

  • Thank you so much!!!!! =)

  • what if the black and white things that go together are already on the key, and the key is not on the keyboard, it snap on since its like the opposite of what you did

  • @lllunatix I had problems trying to do it that way.. The best bet is to pull the hinges off the key, install them on the keyboard first, then put the key on.

  • @AK49BWL ooo thank you much much easier

  • I messed up on my q :D feels kinda awkward to type with a q now. Plus I'm a shaky person... So I'm having difficulties putting the key back on XD

  • My G popped out, so i attempted to pout it back in, thin is, i pulled the black thing as i was trying.

    uggggggggggggggggggggh;

    i have an Emachines netbook.

So i have no clue what the hell to do since nobody on youtube has one.

  • @TheDarkEvilDoll Same i can't figure mine out either!

  • my esc key popped off by accident trying to pull a hair out and I freaked out. You are a life saver sir.

  • im having trouble hooking up the black one going underneath the top two white tabs. it just wont click for some reason. the bottom part will click just fine though.

    any suggestions?

  • OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!, I would've got in so much trouble! Haha!

  • Excellent video. You made my day. Fixed my vostro laptop which lost the "B" key. Not exactly the same but close enough for me to get it right :)

  • Thanks.... love yahh!!!!

  • Thanks lot the helpfll video i fixed my No 4 key in vostro 1500

  • the black and white thingys are broken on mine there all white on mine its a dell but it snapped and my six key dont work do you know where you can buy some if u live in the UK ?

  • I can't fix my spacebar key and it's annoying :(

  • I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the instructions to the letter (ha ha) but my "y" key keeps ending up tilted downward toward the "h" key. y oh y?

  • P.S. P.S. I have a Dell Vostro 1400 and to be more clear, the whole key flaps from the top like at in the video at the 2:50 point where he's demoing the black part and the white part together.

  • @MsOpYop haha, love the play on "y" :p What this sounds like is, your key may be broken and not catching the tabs on the hinges. That's what happened to my V key after tearing it off so many times... Either that, or the hinge is not properly set on the keyboard. I would completely remove both key and hinges and make sure they were put on properly to begin with.. After making sure the Y key still has its little clips. If it doesn't, then you'll need a new key...

  • @MsOpYop Or you could do like I did and replace the Y key with the key that is next to the left arrow and right Ctrl keys.. In fact, give that a shot and see if it works properly. If not, check the hinges. If so, check the Y key.

  • The hinges on my little plastic things broke, so where do I get more of those little plastic things that connect the key to the keyboard? The Best Buy Geek Squad told me it's almost impossible to replace a key, and they wanted to send the whole computer out for a keyboard replacement! I will never pop a key off again, to try to get a fingernail clipping out from underneath the keys!

  • @Teflon65 ebay will have what you're looking for, and the BB Geek Squad is useless, IMO. All you have to do is search for "[laptop model] keyboard key" on ebay, and generally you'll get a few listings that tell you to specify what key you need upon checkout, and have you verify your keyboard type.. It's a little involved, but much better than going without a laptop for a while over a keyboard key. Replacement keyboards are cheap as well, and VERY easy to replace for the DIYer.

  • @AK49BWL I agree with you about the Geek Squad. I've been warned about them by others. Do you think there would be any other place in my area that would have the kind of hinge mechanisms, or whatever you call them. I hate to purchase things online, if I can help it. Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it.

  • @Teflon65 Well, if you have any certified computer repair shops around, you could always check them out and see if they have what you need. They won't generally be large places, so a phone book or google will help in finding them. Here in AK, we've got a place called Computer Renaissance, and they've got all sorts of parts (and complete replacement keyboards for almost any make/model laptop lol), and very affordable pricing.. So your best bet likely would be to find a place like that near you.

  • @AK49BWL Yeah, you are just confirming what I was thinking, but I appreciate it. It makes me feel like I'm on the right path. I'll use ebay as a kind of last resort. I would think that there's someplace here where I a
