  • not one of these songs are in anybodys best of the 80,s except yours.......

  • Don't forget the Pistols, Chelsea, Menace, Anti-Nowhere League, Vibrators, Angelic Upstarts, Generation X and ...well ...not to say these aren't good selections.

The Models "Freeze" might be THE best punk song of that era.

  • The Adicts song was my 2nd wrestling song for 8 years from 1978-1986

  • @TheOfficialCSicSid Really? I thought you had only 1 theme?

  • @EuanTV What then???

  • where the hell is the pistols

  • Did this make anyone else want to go watch A Clockwork Orange?

  • @watchoutitbites

I love punk and I adore Kubrick and his work, but... no.

  • @jenssalumae2 ahh than yes you are correct about the 70s im just sayin there is (well mostly was) a lot of punk in the U.S. too later on, although i will say thank god for the british punk scene because it did start/inspire alot of great music... (plus you where talkin about the offspring and blink which is definatly later than the 70s)

  • this vid now has 20,000 views soo what makesw you guys think this has not now become pop music?lol goosd music though

  • @0deefreak Pop music is a genre. Originally referring to the "popular" music of the time, when it hits a certain number of listens a song doesn't magically change genre. Oh, and cheers for the 20,000 views everyone.

  • the only thing I dont like about most punk rockers is that they hate on other rockers like led zepplin or megadeth, and only think that theyr right cause they have less talent than mainstream (im not talking about MTV mainstream.) im talking about guns n roses, black sabATH guys like that the only reason their famous is cause they have fucking talent

  • Great stuff. I love Britpunk. Couldn't hold a candle to Iggy & Stooges or MC5, though. Detroit would kill 'em & eat 'em.

  • ya y does this have clash and not sex pistols without a sex pistols there would not be a clash

  • @misfitsfan28 pistols were shit, damned were and still are the best

  • @julieanddavid I didnt say any thing about damned I sayd clash, the clash are shit wannabe sex pistols

  • @misfitsfan28 clash is lot better than pistol.....

  • @76tomsawyer I disagree I find the vocals annoying for clash

  • @misfitsfan28 yeah....right....but their song,lyric,performance?...maybe mick a bit annoying on vocal but i cant picture anyone sing stay free rather than mick..........brit punk rules.....

  • @76tomsawyer agreed

  • I don't think I could pick a top 5. I mean, clash, pistols, sham, cockney rejects, snuff (even though they were 80's), uk subs, damned... I could make a 100+ list :P

  • YEA BRO THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO

  • Nice ^.^! I luv listening to punk from Britain!Damn i wish we had atleast SOME punk in our lives in America.. Poo

  • lol im 17 now, never heard of this kind of music before, cause yeah, i grow up with hardstyle and techno and all that stuff, this is something different, wich i like :P probaly be one of few of my age who like this :s

  • @brian14021994 DUDE IVE BEEN INTO THIS STUFF SINCE I WAS 13 U CLAERLY WERE TOO CAUGHT UP IN MAINSTREAM SOCIETY

  • wtf r u thinking, no, i am not, i dont give a shit u grew with it, i like it, end of discussion, you know nothing bout me

  • @brian14021994 I didnt grow up with it, I just hated pop since ever. and I learned about rock by myself. and soo whats ur excuse

  • @misfitsfan28 i don't have an excuse , i just found out about this kind of music and instantly liked it

  • @brian14021994 whatever good 4 u

  • @misfitsfan28 your such a arrogant fag you know, talking like im not good enough for your precious music, well go to hell and keep living in the past bitch

  • @brian14021994 lol calm down man i was born in 1994, lol u need to calm the fuck down ok. all I said was good 4 u.

  • A top 5 punk without the Sex Pistols? That's like a history of heavy metal without Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath.

  • @RayL1983 Haha, aggreed.

  • Sex Pistols should be Number 1. (My opinion)

  • we aa rr ee THE REVOLUTION ain,nt we?

  • @jenssalumae2 Sorry, perfesser, I must've missed your syllabus. My reaction was to what looked like a blanket statement: "America had no punk scene at all." Ok, you're only talking about the 70's... but then I don't get why almost a third of the bands on your profile is made up of US punk bands from the 70s. But anyway, keep the faith, and great collection of tunes.

  • I'm some what glad America didn't get a huge punk scene, they would of killed it.

    The Misfits were American though...

And yeah Blink--182 and the Offspring are mainstream bud.

    Great songs, thanks for posting.

  • @DVA5212 The US had a huge scene with some great bands. The Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Bad Religion

  • @Ikki1604

Absolutely the US had a great scene, but the numbers were not near as great as to what the UK saw

  • @DVA5212 Very True

  • yep love your choice of 5

  • Fucking shit! This is mad!

  • whoah, their so angry

  • @jenssalumae2 no, i actually am 13, but i was on a computer with an odd keyboard when i wrote those and i dont really look back at what ive wrote so i accidently put 15 instead of 13, anyway, if i WAS a peado (which im not) Why would i be looking at these videos and commenting. If you dont beleive me feel free to look at my facebook or whatever... So yeah, dont believe me if uou dont want to but i cant prove it any more than that.

  • silly little plebs!

    the lot er yer plebs!

  • The Damned: The first, the last, and the greatest!

  • British punk walks all over American any day. Fair credit bar a couple bands (chaos uk, varukers etc) the USA does have better hardcore.

  • @fuckyouruglyface88 Punk is British derived, he's right. I mean, we DID have SOME punk in America. But in comparison, We had hardly any. OUR punk came After theirs. I like it all the same though :l

  • Man, all this bullshit music today. I wish I lived at this time. I'm fukkin 12 and none of this music is popular with people my age. It sucks. I listen to The Clash and Blink-182 and The Offspring, and all they listen to is the same song remixed 5 million times over then auto tuned.

  • @caschdc9ejvwhecuihvo but you're from America, which had no punk scene at all. Sure, there was a small LA scene but it was miniscule. Oh, and Blink-182 and the Offspring are mainstream shit too.

  • @jenssalumae2 yeah i'm with ya'. the offstpring and blink-182 are mainstream. i'd listen to anything containing an electric guitar from 60's, 70's, 80's, early 90's. 1995 true rock music died and that fucking mainstream shit came.

  • @jenssalumae2 what about.... misfits (b4 danzig left) - ramones - dead kennedys - if you ask me the usa had some of the best punk bands (i said some of the best) there was a huge punk scene in the usa - actually some people might argue that they invented punk - two different punk scenes going on - i remember it well - and i live in ireland (SLF all the way)

  • @acidxtasy999 Yup the US did have some great punk bands too. I love the dead Kennedys.

  • @jenssalumae2 we had a punk scene here too - try listening to Iggy Pop - I know, I was there

  • @jenssalumae2 Didn't Washington DC have a punk scene in the 70's? Maybe it was later, not sure.

Anyway, awesome choice of songs here. Addicts, The Damned and The Clash? *cums*

  • @jenssalumae2 america didnt have a punk scene? where the fuck were you in the 80s?

  • @kissFAN1619 are u fucking crazy there was some of the greatest rebellion songs in the 1980,s dead kennedys d.o.a. , subhumans.and many more.....

  • @jenssalumae2 America had a thriving "hardcore" scene in the early/mid 80s. Not surprised you haven't heard of the bands or know the scenes existed. But anyone who was there can rattle off band after band. By the time I was in it (mid 80s), the scene was becoming more thrash, and my interest lied more with the 2nd wave English punk bands. American bands like Minor Threat, The F.U.s, Jerry's Kids, early DRI, S.O.A., (DC's) Youth Brigade were great.

  • @jenssalumae2 you have no idea what your talking about

  • @jenssalumae2 uh what about the Ramones?

  • @jenssalumae2 liar !!! NYC AND CHI TOWN AND JUST ABOUT EVERY CITY HAD A PUNK SCENE_UNDERGROUND AND U WEREn"T DER! NEITHER WAS YER INSTANT ACCESS INTERNET! I AM YER DAD!

  • @jenssalumae2 blink 182 is mainstream as fuck hahaha

  • @jenssalumae2 I wouldn't say America "had no punk scene at all". The Stooges, Lou Reed, The Ramones, Patti Smith, The Modern Lovers, The New York Dolls, Black Flag, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, the whole CBGB scene, the Dickies, X and the California scene. Now granted American punk was different from British punk, but to say there was none at all is just wrong. Been sniffin' too much glue?

  • @jenssalumae2 naa man in America sure there wasnt a huge punk scene but it was there especially if you count 90s "grunge" as punk (cause essentially bands like Nirvana are punk). Plus all the underground bands... Oh and the Offspring USED to be a GREAT punk band just check out their self titled album or ignition

  • @ducktapebandofficial God I love Grunge. And Nirvana I just about died when I saw the EMP's Nirvana section (Its a music/movie arts museum in Seattle....)

  • @jenssalumae2 America did have a punk scene dude the stooges, ramones, new york dolls etc.

  • @jenssalumae2 did you say america had no punk scene? Never heard of Black Flag? Circle Jerks? Bad Brains? are you nuts? I promise you, america had a more brutal punk scene. Don't believe me still? Check out the Boston, New York and D.C hardcore scenes. sXe even came from the american scene. Please get your music history checked

  • @jenssalumae2 nyhc

    boston

    dc

dont be a faggot and think that where someones from dictates music

  • @caschdc9ejvwhecuihvo Fucking hell me to!! ive just turned 13 and NONE of my friends are into the clash or blink 182 or boomtown rats or cockney regects or the jam, i mean, punk and mod mysic is fucking amazing, i hate all the shite music today like the black eyed peas and shit :@

  • @caschdc9ejvwhecuihvo get use to it ! punk rockers are always outsiders! ALWAYS!!! nothing pop to see here? fuckem! KEEP ROCKIN" KIDDO! carry the torch! I need to drink a beer and got tired, fired, and rehired! I'M BACK ! had to do this lil thang with dis water buffalo GIMME THE TORCH FUCKER! KEEP GOIN!

  • @caschdc9ejvwhecuihvo im 17 and from ohio man. i wish we did have a punk scene. but the truth is, you dont gotta look punk to be punk. us american kids gotta make a scene with few non hollister prep faggots we know.

  • @caschdc9ejvwhecuihvo Nobody cares if you're 12

  • @jenssalumae2 would they have been in it if it were top 10? :)

  • Damned were the first to have a punk record NEW ROSE first punk band go to america

  • pfft u sayin the damned are not good whos still goin the damned are and still goin fking strong i might add

  • and consider this was before the whole HARDCORE DIY scene...nobody had their own labels, so you had to get signed by someone to make music, and the great thing about the Pistols was Steve Jones stole all their equipment from larger, well known bands, like the New York Dolls, and supposedly Bowie. They started at the bottom and worked themselves up to the point where somaeon wanted to sign them. Imagine trying to do that back before punk was a common style of music. I wouldn't say they sold out.

  • the pistols weren't all about the cash, they just couldn't hold a label because everyone was afraid to have them signed due to liabilities, and A&M cut them after only like a few days cuz of the aftersigning party, and due to contract obligations, had to pay the pistols in full. EMI cut them due to the song God Save The Queen, and the publicity it created...I think if any punk band pushed the limits, it was the Pistols. They were being manipulated by a leech manager, you gotta keep that in mind.

  • the sex pistols were fucking punks for cash its good they arn't on this

  • You nailed the best Sham song mate. Needs Hanging Around maybe,

  • fuck yeah

  • @Reagen90468 what mp3 file?

  • WTF??!! no sex pistols?? : DD

  • @bemeli96 Copyrights, like jenssalumae said...

  • Where are Sex pistols????????????

  • Good choice, loved punk as a teenager, still love it today. Would have had a diff list for a top 5 though. Def would have inc:Damned, would have chosen a Pistols song, maybe Holidays in the Sun,Pretty Vacant.Would have had a Buzzcocks song, prob,Ever fallen in love? or Orgasm Addict, would have had diff Sham69 song: Angels with dirty faces,or Hersham Boys, like Cockney Rejects, but would"nt put them in a top 10? punk list. Good vid though, enjoyed it.

  • @jenssalumae2 LOL. Hard to decide eh? The music was ridiculously good then.

  • I absolutely agree with 1-3 although I would pick a different Sham 69 tune (Hurry up Harry, or If The Kids are United), I've never heard of #4 or 5, but then I stopped listening to punk regularly in 1978, and I am an American. Since I have started listening again, I would add a Ruts song, possibly "In a Rut", and I would definitely have a Buzzcocks tune in my top 5, "Boredom" or even the post Devoto, "What do I get?" I love thinking about this stuff over 30 years on...

  • only joking aboot pistols !seriously STRANGLERS missing did you see all the bands?? rejects damned were not as good as others- well done banging up a list - were a lot of good bands aboot

  • pistols?!?!?!? sid was not about when they were good!!!

  • pistols?!?!?!?

  • the adicts are just an awesome band especially live

  • nah man new rose , anarchy , 1976. enough said.

  • who sais these are the best 5

  • me.

  • my top 5: GERMS, CLASH, RAMONES, WEIRDOS

  • I`d put Flares an Slippers at the top don`t give a shit about the rest

  • Viva!

  • In America I'd have to call The Misfits for being the best. Nice choice though dude it's much appreciated to post this.

    =) 5 star.

  • where's Sid? The Sex Pistols?

  • The Damned and The Adicts are my all timr favorite Punk bands

  • nice I like all of the bands mentioned here

  • Anti-Nowhere League, Sex Pistols and Cock Sparrer are forgotten (if it's about punk-rock anthems...)

  • Anti Nowhere League and Cock Sparrer were limited in terms of influence and Cock Sparrer isnt really punk.

Cant put Sex Pistols on due to copywrite

  • U r an "islander" so I do believe u!..(Honestly, couldn't imagine Cock Sparrer with all their beer and "England belongs to u" was not that much popular! :DD)

  • nah, Cock Sparrer aint popular here, and i'm Welsh not English :)

Cider is the thing here not Beer

  • I see!..

  • well then the pistols arent punks...theyre just a bunch of corporate fux

  • @mazter101 what the fuck u on about!! the music may well have evolved from other sources but the attitude and style was created by mm r.i.p. .... the whole style n attitude wil live on through what the pistols did .. the clash etc may of brought us some aggresive tunes... but the fashion that goes with punk will be remembered by those who were there at the time .. p.

  • amazing songs!

  • 1-3 I like but "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols is BY FAR the best and is hard to take this list seriously without it.

  • i prefer anarchy in the UK

    but i would have put

Stiff Little Fingers - Suspect Device top but both Sex Pistols and Stiff Little Fingers are copyrighted so you cant upload them.

  • Excellent 1, 2 and 3!!!

    Not too sure about 4!?

5 is good but was out in 1981

  • clash kinda sux, sold them selves for cash

  • no dude wah you chattin about? mick and joe argueing split the group up along with topper (drummer) heroin habit....

  • you should hear Crass-punk is dead song, there right about clash.

  • crass should stop bein so dam political and bitchy and actually do or say something about the shit life.

look at White Man in Hammersmith Palais by the Clash - it fuckin tells you strait the shitty side of british life whilst the crass invented that fuckin sayin i hate so much. Punks not Dead all the Crass ever did was Bullshit about life with there crappy songs grr i hate Crass

  • Crass is good, but thats the only song i hate punk is dead, theres only one thingy i agreed on with them.

  • Agree with that, they became too Americanish

  • lol

  • this is a great video! thanks for posting dude!

  • borstal breakout!!
