OMG thanks, I was trying to find out what makes that fried rice in the Chinese restaurants yellow and now I know...tumeric! I am going to try this and see how it comes out.
Now all I want to know is...why do some people put egg in their rice?
I could smell the amazing aroma, spiritual, tasteful. I am sure it must of been hot and very good. I have to try it myself. What would be the best rice. Basmatic , i guess
Thanks Manjula. I look forward to trying this. I once tasted rice prepared by an Indian lady at one of my daughter's end of school term open days. She told me it was flavoured with garam masala and it was superb. Do you have a recipe for this too? I'll be back to find out.
i cant help but keep coming back to your channel, not only have you made me love cooking but you made me really open up to new things :D thanks for sharing, and thanks for making indian cooking understandable!!
hello Aunti Manjula, i love all your recipes. I would like to ask you which brand of basmati rice do you use ? I tired a few here in a california, and not all of them are good. It would be great if you can tell me your rice's brand name.
Thank you, this was helpful, and simple. I started cooking few months ago when i came to States, I like onions so I think I will fry some onions too with those spices! what do you think?
What do you do with the chili peppers and bay leaves when you serve the rice? Does one eat them or throw them away? Getting a whole pepper in a serving would seem rather powerful, and a whole bay leaf would be rather bitter. I have this question regarding whole garam masala as well.
I've tried this 3 times already and it never turns out like yours. I need that pot that you have so that it doesn't stick. I use a stainless steel one. I have fried the spices then added the rice and water and covered and cooked it. It was delicious this way too. I will keep trying.
What type of pot it that. It's not tefelone is it? Thank you!
Thank you for the videos but I have one question me and my family don't eat food so hot, so can I make yellow rice with out the cayenne pepper and red chillies or does it need it for the taste?
The red peppers are to make a "hot chili oil" and cayenne for a extra spice. You do not need either. Most of the flavoring comes from the other ingredients
I think I am getting hooked on these videos, this looks delicious. I have always loved Indian food but too intimadating to try to cook. This videos are lovely, she makes it look so easy. Thank you again
btw...is everyone calling this lady Auntie? Is that a term of respect? Just curious, hard it used in movies too.
anyone who can tell me where to get ingredients such as asafetida? grocery store in little india? or, can it be found in a regular large city supermarket?
I used your recipes over Christmas and was shocked how good they tasted. They were eaten with pleasure..The dishes you make on youtube have inspired me, thankyou so much!
thank you so much for such a nice recipe ,Dear Manjula please tell Channa Dal Halwa recipe ,I desperately need one,I will be so thankful if you tell the recipe

shobey26 2 years ago
Looks good, but no protein, I think. And no vitamins. But as you said you serve it with salad. There are vitamins in it.
Do you have recipes which provide protein? I will try some of the easy rice recipes.

XtcRaver420 2 years ago
@RromaBoi you can cook without the cayenne if you want, but if you keep one or two, its better because it adds to the flavor.
