Alberta Hunter was a known blues performer like Bessy Smith in thirties. She performed in Greenich Village. I have an old vinyl disk (1982 CBS) with her. Thank you for this hit and I have subcribed your posts.

I don't know how many times I've vistited this post -- it is absolutely the best rendition of this song!!!

I didn't know who Alberta Hunter was -- I had never heard of her before listening to this. I did some checking around and found the DVD, "My Castle's Rockin' " on Amazon. I ordered it and learned what an interesting and amazing life she led!

Even more amazing was the comeback she made to the world of entertainment and singing -- at the ripe old age of 82 !!!

Graham, you have excellent sensibility when it comes to music. Alberta Hunter is one of my faves. Hotcha songs, with a sense of humor and wicked double entendre. Great upload. Sorry haven't been around...yesterday was the first anniversary of my mum's death. Otherwise, we would've been commenting on your uploaded vids. @dukesgal39 If you mean Alberta Hunter, I'm afraid not, don't have anything else by her. I do upload quite a few things from the thirties, mainly British dance bands and singers. Hopefully you will find a few things to enjoy amongst them.
