  • Most Non-Ip Man lineage sifus seem to have big problems with Ip Man. Is that normal?

  • By the way I have pictures of me with several different masters, when we Pass on I hope my children will not say I beat them and the master were my students. If you don't get it then you will not be able to comprehend the meaning of high level techniques of Wing Chun...take up ping pong... I suppose Yuen Kay Shan was the grand champion in that!

  • Well done ! Now that you have “served your purpose”, perhaps you should be told what this is really all about : Dr. Cheung Yung has (in this clip above) made very clear blatant statements in Chinese to rectify and clarify matters regarding the true relationship between his own Sigung, Yuen Kay San, and Yip Man - which is meant to be heard by all direct disciples of Yip Man in Hong Kong ! Yet for the past 8 months, no one has dared to make any significant comment to refute such statements !

  • Now that you have made such authoritative comments (re beating up Yuen Kay Shan, ping pong, flying pigs etc.) clearly you should at this stage have the guts to inform all viewers of your own standing in the Yip Man clan (for your own sake, we certainly hope that your own sifu will provide you with full backing and support as regards such interesting comments !). Needless to say, should you fail to redeem yourself in this simple manner, however, all future comments of yours will be ignored !

  • And pigs can fly... Look up Yuen Kay Shans older brother in you tube executing the wooden dummy form and tell me that they even understand high level techniques ( the brother that supposedly left China for Vietnam because he killed someone in a fight....wow since Yip Man's death everyone is riding the bandwagon, hell I will just say I beat Yuen Kay Shan and taught him everything he knows. Now what?

  • Stop practicing the dummy when Yuen Kay Shan would visit. Even now we can see that the top students of the top 4 students of Yip Man are much more superior than the students of Yip Man. That is why Yip Man said there were no Sihings in Wing Chun, he who gets there first is the Sihing. Yip Man beat everyone after learning from Leung Bik( to discredit this, people are saying Leung Bik did not exist).

  • As for the dummy, the truth is that Yip Man only managed to learn a small portion of the dummy skills from YKS when he was in Fat Shan (as after the two fell out with each other, YKS refused to teach Yip his dummy skills). When Yip came to Hong Kong, however, he observed the Weng (not Wing) Chun dummy skills of the late GM Tang Yik at a place called Dai Duk Lan, and instructed his student Leung Seung to visit this place so as to take full correct measurements of GM Tang Yik’s wooden dummy !

  • Yip Man then befriended GM Tang Yik and visited Dai Duk Lan FREQUENTLY in the hope of obtaining some of Tang Yik’s dummy skills ! (there are still in existence today black & white photographs of Tang Yik taken together with Yip Man !) So, what everyone now considers as authentic Yip Man’s wing Chun Dummy techniques are merely Yip’s own blending of techniques he learnt off YKS when he was in Fat Shan during the early period of his life with those he learnt of Tang Yik when he came to Hong Kong !

  • Come on let us use some logic here, looking at Yuen Kay Shan video of his bother in Vietnam( we know they learned from the same teachers), we can deduce that their skills were not in the same caliber as Yip Man. Yip Man told his students in Fatsan to stop

  • Logic ?!!! For starters, you should get your facts correct !!! Yuen Kay Shan learnt from both Fok Bo Chuen as well as the legendary (and undefeated) bounty hunter/bodyguard Fung Siu Ching. His brother, Yuen Chai Wan, learnt solely from Fok Bo Chuen before leaving for Vietnam - and therefore never had a chance to learn from Fung. FYI, Fung actually stayed at YKS's home for years, and it was there that he taught YKS the 3 forms Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kin and Biu Jee and his advanced Wing Chun skills.

  • This is the reason why these 3 forms (Siu Nim Tau, Chum Kiu and Biu Jee) DO NOT appear in the curriculum of Yuen Chai Wan's line of Wing Chun, and also explains why Yip Man was (previously - when he was still in Fat Shan) so keen to "obtain" these three forms from his (then) good friend and sifu YKS !!! (you can confirm this with Yip Man's sons who know the true story behind these 3 forms !) Treating Yip Man as a good friend, YKS used to give guidance to Yip Man on these 3 forms and Chi Sao !

  • Elder Uncle- I hope you understand my lack of understanding of the Cantonese language doesnt reflect my love and respect for the Chinese and the "Crown Jewel of Chinese Martial arts". Respect to the system and my elders is most important. My ego means nothing to me. Very simply my Sifu didnt stress Chinese culture, as our time together was focused exclusivly on the actual system. But I am willing to learn about the hierarchy and proper terminology, if your willing to teach me privatly.

  • For your information, a kung fu practitioner's more senior elder Kung fu brother(s) (sharing the same sifu with him) is/are known as his "Sihing(s)", his more junior younger kung fu brother(s) is/are known as his "Sidai(s)".

  • The senior elder Kung fu brother(s) of his own sifu (sharing the same sigung with his own sifu) is/are known to him as his "Sibak(s)", and the junior younger kung fu brother(s) of his own sifu (sharing the same sigung with his own sifu) is/are known to him as his "Sisook(s)" .

  • I removed the rest of my posts Elder Uncle. Again Im sorry for any friction between us.

  • Via your actions on this occasion, you have clearly shown to all that you are not obstinate and do have respect for your elders - remarkable and impressive indeed ! … and yes, I can see now that you do have photos/videos of yourself shown at your website (my mistake).

  • Please note that it was never my intention for you to remove your earlier posts/comments - which do, admittedly, contain valuable comparative information on the various branches of WCK, as well as your own insightful viewpoints on the subject. You are, therefore, most welcome to (and should) reinstate the deleted materials back in their original position - to benefit less knowledgeable viewers and for purposes of future discussion.

  • My face is attached to my account, as are videos of myself, playing guitar. I care about my family and kung fu family, and simply dont want the fact that I write antichristian music, to reflect on them, but I dont hide my face, nor my name in private. . You have neither your name nor your face, but I will take you at your word that you have in fact learned from 2 direct students, with the amount of time. As your my elder I appologize for arguing with you. If you wish I will delete my posts

  • For the record, I wish to inform you that I have, in fact, studied the art (since the early 90s) directly under two (2) direct first-generation students of GM Sum Nung - and that I am, accordingly, your “elder” in the system. Now on the assumption that you are, indeed, “a man of your word”, I suppose you know what should be done at this stage. Curiously, given your 6 years of YKS training, what makes you think that I should have less experience than yourself in the art ? !!!

  • So what if, as a non-Chinese, you are able to “babble on” about the names of the various Chinese sifus of the YKS art around the world and “regurgitate” to viewers what you’ve heard and learnt previously from your Chinese sifus/elders about this Chinese art and its history - BIG DEAL ! … Nevertheless, if you can wholeheartedly show to your own Chinese sifus/elders the serious disrespect you have for traditional Chinese values and customs, then that really is indeed something worth admiring !

  • Keep in mind, my research is over 20 years. Half of my life. Im almost a decade older than you, though I may not look it. I use an alias for a reason. Im a musician and the type of music I write is controversial. I dont want that associated with my family or my kung fu family, and so to protect them, from my private interests I use a stage name as many musicians do.

  • And if your my elder in the system, being either a direct student of Sigung or a grandstudent, or if your a great grandstudent as I am but are senior in time, (longer than 6 years in YKS), I will publicaly apologize to give you face, but you didnt even attempt to contact me and discuss things properly. Nor have you stated your name when sharing your information.

  • I would have thought that as someone who is able to make the bold statement below, you should (in order not to appear a total hypocrite in front of all viewers !), at the very least, have the courage to attach your own real face or real name to your own account - unless, of course, Genocide is your real name and Vor your real surname ! (in which case, I do pity you !) ... nevermind the fact that as a musician writing controversial music, you are also currently using an alias / stage name !

  • It is interesting that GenocideVor considers himself in a position to refer to Dr. Cheung Yung as his Sisook !!! Clearly this person should note that unless it can be proven that he had previously studied WCK directly under a first generation direct student of GM Sum Nung (Dr Cheung Yung's sifu) - in which case, his own sifu would be considered a Sihing (elder kung fu brother) of DR. Cheung Yung, he would have no choice but to refer to the good doctor as "Dr. Cheung Yung" - and not his Sisook !

  • This is, in fact, the very KEY to good Wing Chun chi sao, and, indeed, just BASIC / FUNDAMENTAL information and simple common knowledge to any serious Wing Chun practitioner !

  • Response to (2) above : When a “beginner” is first taught Wing Chun chi sao, clearly he must use his brain to memorize the proper hand techniques. However, when he is able to master the Wing Chun hand techniques to a reasonable degree, then it is hand sensitivity, reflexes and automatic reaction that comes into play - to have to “think first before reacting” under such circumstances would be too slow and, accordingly, give your opponent a major advantage over yourself in actual combat !

  • In return, Sum Nung promised Cheung Bo that he will teach Cheung Chut (張七), Cheung Bo’s son, his own unique “blend” of Wing Chun - encompassing and integrating the teachings and knowledge of the three Wing Chun masters - Cheung Bo, Wai Yuk Sung and Yuen Kay San. As Wing Chun as practiced today in Fut San by the Cheung Bo clan is generally descended directly from Cheung Chut, it can be seen that Cheung Bo’s line of Wing Chun as practiced today does, in fact, contain Yuen Kay San elements in it.

  • It was Cheung Bo who, after teaching Sum Nung (岑能) all his Wing Chun skills, further introduced Sum Nung to his own Sifu, Wai Yuk Sung (圍玉生), to further advance Sum Nung’s Wing Chun skills. After his period of studying Wing Chun with Wai Yuk Sung, Sum Nung was then further introduced to Yuen Kay San and became Yuen’s student (both Wai Yuk Sung and Yuen Kay San being direct frist-generation students of the legendary Fung Siu Ching (馮少青)).

  • Response to (1) below : Many thanks for showing so much concern for Fut San Wing Chun affairs ! The Cheung Bo (張保)clan and Yuen Kay San (阮奇山) clan in Fut San have always been friends with each other - so it would be a complete waste of time and effort for anyone to try to “stir shit” between the two clans at this stage ! However, just to provide “education” for lls188 on the actual real relationship between Cheung Bo and Sum Nung (which, by the way, is just common knowledge in Fut San !) :

  • Chinese text below questions :

    (1) why no mention was made of the fact that Sum Nung’s first sifu was Cheung Bo, and (2) the validity of Dr. Cheung Yung’s statement that Wing Chun does not involve thought.

  • He got the lineage wrong. Fu siu ching lineage goes back to the red boats where chi sim taught everyone. Theres no mention of ng mui and the boats.

  • Very interesting!

  • Hey its my dad!!! LOL

  • Please Sifu Sergio; can you do a book about the History of Wing Chun? you have so many information that is not available in book form! A book of JUST the History of Wing Chun and the carateristcs would be BEST and GREAT!!

  • This comment was erased by accident earlier on,we are sorry for the mistake.

Furthermore I suggest anyone interested for the subject to read Leung tings book "the

roots of wing tsun", it contains detailed accounts for the subject, by Kwok Fu, Lun Kai,

Lee man and other historic evidence.

As for the interview itself, there are many variations of wing tsun (chun) and we have to

respect all them, and you can't do that if one is saying bad or inaccurate things about

    the other

  • Very interesting information that is detailed in

Sifu Sergio entrvista of Dr. Yung Yuen Cheung Kay

San Wing Chun, which reveals some interesting data

    time late GM Yip Man

  • sifu sergio.. you have like 10000000 sifus. LOL

  • Sifu sergio can u speak cantonese? or do u have a translator? i never see who's on the other side of the interview

  • and where's dr. LEUNG JAN?? Chan wah shun learn from him right?

  • its biu gee or biu ji.

  • To suggest that YKS taught sifu Yip Man the basic postures & Look-sau & seung sau, one is stating that Yip Man did not know chisau at all until he'd met YKS. Unless one can provide independently verifiable proof of this, then they shouldn't broadcast this. To do so would only cause 'negative' feelings between different lineages.

You probably didn't learnt the 'mistakes' made by Yip Chun & Checkly Sin.

  • Thx Sifu Sergio for this Movie.

I learning very about your videos
