  • @greenace14 omg, I noticed it too! :O

  • @greenace14

  • HATE THAT NASTY SONG!?

  • super Musik

  • this version of the song sucks so bad i puked.

  • Have Valravn released any albums? Please email me!! The lead singer is hot!!!

  • I find it sad that some talented person on Deviantart will spend 40 hours drawing a beautifully composed masterpiece and have it get 3,000 hits in 7 days, while Humon makes a comic with little effort in about 30 minutes and somehow manages to get 700,000 hits in the same amount of time; and could probably command her entire fanbase to praise Hitler or jump off a cliff at her command.

    Man, things have changed.

  • @TheSnappleMan21 I find it sad how often others try to berate artists for their 30 minute projects when they have so much more to offer on their pages. It's all the more disheartening because obviously they only base their arguements on the quality of a piece and not the imagination or concept itself. In fact, you'll find that the piece inspired by this song has nothing to do with her comics. It isn't fair to say that an artist doesn't deserve as much praise as another becase of their skills.

  • Who the hell is Humon? :-D

  • @tasteegold777 Dude, what's with the attitude? This music is awesome! And why would you piss on the vikings? Would you like to piss on the best-looking people in the world? xaxaxa not worth it imo. The nordic languages are also totally awesome!

  • I like Tyr's version better, because I like the singing better.

Strangely, i read Humon's work but that's not how I got here.

  • Tyr did it better, but only cause its metal. This is amazing.

  • They come to castlefest again <3

  • wtf is this ? this isn´t a faroese band ? just wondering cuz the lyrics are, go listen to tyr ólavur riddararós it is better ( i think it is better )

  • @Bonkurin Tyr is metal, (which is obviously better) but this is folk, so its not really to be compared to a metal band. This is a more traditional approach, and yes, they are a Faroese band.

  • Can someone post thee lyrics??

  • Like this? I LOVE this.

  • who's Humon?

  • @Halkatlaana

Go to DeviantArt,type in SatW,you'll find Humon.

  • who teh fuck ar humon:( ?

  • I wasn´t sent by Humon (who ever he might be...)

Found it myself, I just heard two songs, and think, I´m becomming a fan.

    Sounds really great.

    Greetings from Germany.

  • @Startwister Humon is a she actually.

  • who is humon?

  • @bluemechin She is a very talented artist who posts her drawings and such on Deviant Art. In the description of one of her pieces, she included a link to this video that's why people mention her.

  • STOP asking for THUMBS UP!!!!!!! It's a sign that you are an attention whore! This song is nice, but seriously? Stop asking!

  • @IncogUser Thumbs Up if you think that people should stop to ask for Thumbs Up axaxaxaxaxaxax. just kidding ;)

  • @IncogUser Exactly, and if you want thumbs up, just try to deserve them.

  • who is humon?

  • @augismu agreed. who is humon? also thumbs up if related videos on TYR sent you here

  • @babadef humon is the writer/artist of a faboulous internet comic "Scandinavia and the world"

  • @babadef The God of War sent us here

  • OH!beautiful sound....

  • elska þetta í botn. 10 stjörnur :)

  • Sent here by Humon too.

The first verson of this song I ever heard was Tyr's metal/prog rendition, which I adore but I love this one too. Why always with the cool traditionals, scandinavia?

  • my, she is pretty. is she the elf maid? lol nnoooo, it is like the beauty and beast all over again........ actually, the beauty and the beast is almost a perfect reversal of this song's tale, hmmmmm, interesting.

  • Mær dámar betur týr

  • Thumbs up if you want this as the new national anthem of Scandinavia <333

  • @Duckzor15345 national anthem of ISLAND, if so

  • @Duckzor15345 national anthem of ICELAND, if so :))

  • @NotOnlySelfLover, Hardly. considering this song has nothing to do with Iceland, and it being entirely Faroese.

  • @aGeilini Yes? And I thought only Icelandic still had the letter ð and had a definite article -ur at the end of some nouns.

  • @NotOnlySelfLover The -ur inflection marks the nominative masculine case of nouns, also used for some plurals - it comes from Old Norse -r which does the same thing. It's not the definite article, the definite article is marked with -inn in Old Norse and -in in Faroese - so konungr (konungur), meaning king, in the definite article would be konungrinn in Old Norse and konungurin in Faroese.

  • @NotOnlySelfLover As for the ð (eth) I think it is vestigial in modern Faroese and is more of an etymological marker, but in Old Norse was halfway between a d and a th sound (I think this is the same in modern Icelandic). Good to see people taking an interest in archaic Scandinavian languages, even here in Norway it is an undervalued and under-studied subject.

  • @Einheri1989 Thank you :) I actually take interest in any language issues I come in contact with :D My friends are often astonished at my skill to tell most European languages, even those I never really learned, apart by a mere look at the written text. It is just natural to me to find and analyze characteristic traits in anything written in a foreign language with Latin letters, and I've been doing so since my secondary school days :)

  • @Duckzor15345 And you don't think it would be counterproductive to have an anthem about abductions, pride and sorrowful deaths?

  • að lesa færeysku er góð skemmtun....

    Skál fyrir Humon!

  • Tyr is 10000x more better

  • I like Tyr's version better...

  • Tæt på at runde de hundrede tusind, det er da for vildt - sejt og tillykke fra Køng !!

  • Tyr sent me here and I wish they hadn't.

  • @Coonetta Faen ta deg, kuksuger.

  • @Einheri1989 jeg fuck din moder

  • @Einheri1989 jeg fuck din moder. jeg voldta din praktfull moder

  • @Coonetta Eg fucker ikkje mora di. Kven ville? Berre du og faren din fordi dykk både elskar hennes stor fett kuk. ;)

  • @Einheri1989 θα πάρω φύλο με έναs γουρούνι aka δικό σου αδελφή

  • What is the genre of this music??

  • @0utspac3r AWESOME

  • humon sent me

  • I've just recently found Valravn and I really like this song. I've listened to some other songs as well, but so far I think this song is their best. Can someone maybe help me? Í'm looking for more songs by Valravn, but with the up-tempo like it has in this song. You know, a bit more beat, a bit more speed. That's all I need. (I couldn't help myself xD)

Anyway, suggestions anyone? I'd really appreciate it.

  • @Ataume Well I think Kelling is a good one.

  • @physcoisme Kelling is awesome!

  • @physcoisme I've just listened to it, and you are right! I love Kelling! Thank you so much!

  • @Ataume You're welcome.^^

And this song is awesome! ^__^

  • @MurasakiFujiwara

this version SUCKS!... Valravn should not be making music.. Týr ALL THE WAY!

  • I thought elves were supposed to be good?

  • @doobiesmoke15 Maybe since lord of the rings, but in old mythology since the beginning they've always been considered malicious creatures who like to use humans as playthings.

  • @ronnehh Woah, so if elves are evil in the old stories are trolls good then?

  • @doobiesmoke15

Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're evil.

Depends on where you come from.

  • @doobiesmoke15 Actually, in some versions yes.

  • @doobiesmoke15 In old mythology around the world, creatures, gods and other things was rarely classified as good or evil. That is a more modern black&white view that I think we have christianity to "thank" for.

  • I saw these guys live! :D

  • That's some tamborine that man is standing with 8D And the music is not bad at all. I'm a Dane, but I still only understand around half of this song. Oh, lovely old mythologies :>

  • @Altarior I'm from Sweden, and I'm surprised I understand as much as I do :P

  • nice speed. nice voice . nice instruments. THUMBS UP

  • Exciting music, fresh and ancient together. Great!

  • I wake up to this every morning to the hope of a beautiful day!!!

  • @heijaxs Hehe tú dugur bara mega gott at skriva føroyskt=)

  • Hmm.. There's something about her voice that I both adore and don't like at all.. How odd.

  • I love Danish and Færoese. I would love to meet this beautiful woman. I want to know her name.

  • Comment removed

  • @jysluggo Her name is Anna Katrin Egilstrøð, and she is Faroese.

  • THe lyrics and the lead singer is Faroese, but the band is Danish :)

  • I love this version as much as the Tyr version

  • Hæ? Færøysk? Knallkult e det værtfall :-) Really cool

  • Quite awesome I must admitt

  • lol the guy on the right looks like legolas

  • omg haha your right

  • Now when we in Iceland are waiting for our president to say no to Icesave. People standing outside his home with red flares. It is ironic to think about the meaning of this song in that context.

  • idc if shes icelandic or not, eitherway LONG LIVE ODIN!!

  • haha hljómar einsog dauðadrukkinn íslendingur...

  • The version by TYR is way better

  • For an untrained ear perhaps, but last time i checked this is Faroese :)

  • Comment removed

  • exactly

  • islandic people trying to sing faroese to be excact:p and it sounds kinda funny, but they are doing a good job:p

  • what are you talking about? the lead singer in this group is Faroese. this is just her artistic voice. she also sounds weird like this, when she sings Danish songs.

  • Hmmm last time i checked, they were Danish :) The female in the band speaks danish fluently.

  • yes but she is from the pharoe islands. she is singing on her own language.

They learn danish, like danes learn english.

  • We also learn danish here in iceland

  • Yeah I know, as an second language :)

We have german here as our second language, but no one really learns it. I can understand it if they talk slow, and I can write it. but the gramma makes no sense :D
