I got this elastic put on today on both arches. The combination of the elastic and wire was wow but somehow I enjoyed it, because it means it's doing its job perfectly. Only thing is, my orthodontist put the elastic before he put on the wire not the other way around like shown in this video. Anyone experienced the same thing as me?
Had my braces since Feb 2011 but just got the power chain on top and bottom a couple of days ago and now I feel the pain-gums are throbbing but the pain isn't unbearable, just a little discomfort
I wan't this:(...My orthodontist only puts the elastic chain over the hole between 2 theets. Why?? .. I want it all over my teeth..It's takes for ever for the holes to close :'( Will it go faster that way??
I got the top a while ago but i got a chain on my bottom teeth a few days ago and it still hurts! Last adjustment before this shit is coming off though :)
Got my powerchain on the top wire 2 weeks ago. It was to close the gap between two teeth at the back. Now it's closed and i can no longer see through the hole. Im getting braces off in 5 weeks and i am exited :] my power chain was to close a 1 mm gap :D
How long does it usually take for a 1-2mm gap to close? I got my c-chain on top and bottom & I told my ortho that treatment has to be done in 4 months because I'm going away for college, and he said it'll close by then, but I'm worried if 4 months is not enough time.
@Nihilanthe....maybe she took them off faster but at that point it was either to continue with a full treatment or to stop. full treatment meaning 2 more years and the pulling of teeths to create space so she could push back the front teeths. im still not sure about what to do. my front teeths are not that straight at all anymore...its funny though...in the last few years since i started with braces everyone tells me i look like nicolas cage...i recon its because he has had teeth done fixed too
This shit is really uncomfortable, but the pain will wear off in a maximum of 48 hours.. at least that's the case for me. Plus, it's definitely worth it..
haha i like watching this cuz this is whats gonna happen to my teeth when i get the chain next month, cant wait ro get them off! i already broke one by eating a sliced apple...tee hee(: /: :P
I got these yesterday on the bottom front four and it hurts really bad but I think I'm seeing some improvement (is that possibles or is it just my imagination?)
I not have the power chain on upper and lower. It;s my 8 month in, I'm usually used to them doing the top. Needless to say, shits sort of painful after day 1.
most of my friends have braces and they need them for 3 years and i only needed them for 1 year and my teeth were the worst out of the group. and my braces are different than other peoples because mine are clear brackets in the front 4 teeth and then the rest of my mouth has grey brackets. im guessing im lucky. :D
@mskittylover4life Braces do not hurt while you get them on. A few hours after they will be very, very painful. mine were so bad i missed a few days of school and didn't eat anything solid for about a month, but everyone is different. you get used to them and now every time i go and they do something it doesn't hurt.
Hi, I have an overjet that I would say is pretty severe.I had my braces for 6 months. And in my last appointment my ortho installed a power chain on my top six front teeth. He also gave me elastic rubber bands. My ortho told me that the power chains will close the gaps, and the rubber bands will fix my bite. But this vid shows the power chains fixing the bite in total. My question is, will powerchains fix my bite and close my gaps? Or do the rubberbands really do the trick? Thank you
i have that kind of chain since i had my braces, i have now & it really closed the gap on my upper teeth...coz i got 2 teeth extracted & it left some space...it hurts but i hope it's worth the pain...
@mimamakim what do you mean by pull out teeth??? if your teeth are like in the video then there are gaps already, there's no need for teeth extraction :)
@archangelval oh silly me...guess i was a bit tired when watching...didnt notice the gap at all....i dont have any spaces between my teeths but my upper front teeths are sticking more out than i want them to, thus creating overbite. imagine the same video with the overbite but without the gaps, thats me. make sense?
@archangelval hmm...the overbite i got only recently because i just had braces...before the braces i just had crowded teeth or crocked if you want, but no overbite really...thats whats so anoying...and my orthodntist told me to fix the overbite she will have to pull out teeths because i dont have space. And when she tells me about this whole surgery it just sounds like too much of an operation-2 years to fix+what if the end results will get even worse than now? i really regret i did braces now.
@mimamakim hmmm, ortho's job is to fix the alignment of the teeth & also the bite so i guess your ortho should've told you the possible results. is your overbite uncomfortable? or maybe that's just how your teeth is, i mean if they were all well & aligned.
@archangelval Well, its hard to predict ones result. unfcomfy my alignment is yes, before they were crocked but more comfortable.. She did tell me that it was not a full treatment, meaning 1 year not removing teeths and more sort of making a camouflage straightening of the teeths in upper and lower jaw. They did become pretty straight, but i didnt know i would get an overbite.
@archangelval And yes its been 1 year now and i still think about it much, and i didnt use the retainer on purpose so my upper teeths are moving back but stil my front teeths will create an overbite that wont go away. Im thinking to take of the retainer and make my lower teeths move back to before the time when i got the lower braces on. That was half year into the treatment and then everything was looking good. When i got the lower ones of thats when things went wrong!
@mimamakim that's bad. maybe you should've just wore your retainers on. coz your teeth werent stable yet. my sister had her braces for a long time without adjustment so it was ok if she didnt wear retainers, but in your case, surely it will move with nothinng to guide it. is it really that bad?
@archangelval no i did not wear them on purpose coz i wanted to see how it would look like...i didnt like the way my teeths were totally straight...its just like it changed my whole face, and after 30 years of getting used to my face its pretty weird suddenly u look so different. People in general dont notice any change really exept for 1 friend who noticed straight away...i hadnt seen him for a while and he has eyes for details. He said it looked like i had gotten fake teeths and i agreed.
@mimamakim ohhh, i get it. that's the downside of getting braces. i've only got mine for like 8 months & im liking the result, it doesnt seem to change much about how i look, just better.it's your decision, if you really wanna fix your overbite then, you have to face the risk.
@ahdayjojojo90 - rubber bands can be very helpful. If the orthodontist said you need them, I would trust them. They won't push out the chin permanently. They mainly just move the teeth.
In response to mimamakin - It is unfortnate that you had a bad orthodontic experience. But please don't paint every patient and every doctor with one brush. It definitely is not the case. Most people come out with very improved results with the smile, the bite, and facial appearance. But usually that is taken into consideration when planning the case. In general, orthodontists are top notch doctors (top of dental school classes) who really want and try to do what is best for tthe patient.
EVERYONE!!! especially adults...beware...braces will change the way your face looks...and not nescesarilly for the better. i had crowded teeth and had damon braces for little more than a year. Now i have an overbite instead and my face is not in harmony anymore...proportional speaking. Im so sad about the result and wished i never did it.

@georgiacowboy i have a chain going up to my sinus cavity to pull down a tooth. its connected to a spring that keeps the space between the two teeth open, and it is tightened every month when my braces are. Do you have any videos concerning this? if you do, could you tell me the name?
@mimamakim i agree. do your research on whoever you're looking into. my parents looked thruogh a bunch of orthodonist to get rid of my horribly hideouse teeth that made me cry most of my life. Now im getting them off in a few weeks and i already miss them. i swear im going to cry when i see the great results i've seen, but soon bare.
@ttylomglolcrazee thanks, but im not sure how this cranio therapy will help? my teeth are exactly like the graphical video here...and what seems to be needed to fix my gap is that same thing...the upper teeths need to be pulled back but my dentist tells me that the only way i can have that done is if i pull out some teeth which is a painful and long operation of minimum 2 years. Im not sure if it is the same technique showed in the video that she describes, but i hope not??
@mimamakim beware of the orthodontist you chose, not the actual braces. I also have the damon braces and to me they did a great job. I had to have an expander because my arch was too small, so now my face is rounder. It makes me look more childish which I dislike but hey, it'll be better in 30yrs hah
It looks like your orthodontist didn't feel like fixing the overbite and just took the braces off to get it over with. I suggest you either re-visit him or talk to someone else if you want it fixed
gosh yesterday my orthodontist put bands to tie my teeth together because i had extractions. I didnt know that the spaces could hurt so much closing. And Surprisingly theyre closing up pretty fast. Anyway its only on the gaps and the pain is worse than the spacers. well i guess it will always be every tightening right?
i've had that on my teeth because i had spaces it really helps with the spaces after one 1 dentist visit. now i get my braces off september 16th im excited i dont care if it hurts as long as they come off
they just put mine in today. i was told they're elastic chains. are elastic chains and power chains the same thing?..just different names?.i guess they're also called power chains because they're what closes gaps in teeth using force? neways they hurt so much. i feel so much pressur..force all over my teeth.. i couldn't even bit into a burger, had to cut it all up. my fries i pretty much swallowed since i couldn't chew those either. not sure how much the pain'll last for. :(
@tdottchickk I don't have power chains yet but since having my braces and having them tightened and such, the pain will usually go away after 3 days and you will be able to eat comfortably probably after a week,.
@tdottchickk i know your pain, ive had powerchains since day one and ive been feeling pressure since. its only couple days so after awhile it goes away..mine are coming off next month so im excited for that finally after 2 1/2 yrs.
@spinjenny, you're so lucky!!! lol. happy for u, ur braces are coming off, yay!! i've a long way to go. are u happy with ur smile now :) ? what problems did u have with your teeth? gaps, crowding, etc? and has the braces fixed everything perfectly? are u going to be wearing retainers? once u get powerchains, you're going to be wearing them until the end of ur treatment? i wud guess so. well congrats to u. and yea after a week i was able to eat ok, but those powerchains were torture.
Soon i'm gonna get braces my mom used to have braces and she said that it hurt when they were putting it on and for the first day, that makes me so scared!!!!! But i know it will only hurt for maybe a few days, i'm not sure.
hey i have a very bad overbite my front teeth cover my bottom teeth and im getting braces for my overbite and someone tell me how it would work i mean come on how would those braces bring my front teeth on top of my bottom teeth
@JackJack967 - Special bonding technique.. First acid etch the teeth to roughen the surface. The base of the bracket is made with a fine screen mesh. Then a special adhesive is used to bond the two together.
@love8jb thats a dumb question. obviously at certain points they hurt. certain times when the tighten the wire it hurts afterwords for a few days. but certaqin times it doesnt hurt at all. and btw... it doesnt hurt to GET braces.
@jesusgirl1994 You've got nothing to worry about. The spacers will probably annoy and hurt you a bit for the first few days, but i rememer having them and it really wasnt that bad! Hope that helps.
my dentist has been using a power chain on my top row of teeth, when there is gaps in my lower row of teeth, not the top, so idk what the heck he's doing
I got this elastic put on today on both arches. The combination of the elastic and wire was wow but somehow I enjoyed it, because it means it's doing its job perfectly. gosh yesterday my orthodontist put bands to tie my teeth together because i had extractions.

tdottchickk 1 year ago
@tdottchickk I don't have power chains yet but since having my braces and having them tightened and such, the pain will usually go away after 3 days and you will be able to eat comfortably probably after a week,.
sueannwashere 1 year ago
@tdottchickk i know your pain, ive had powerchains since day one and ive been feeling pressure since. its only couple days so after awhile it goes away..mine are coming off next month so im excited for that finally after 2 1/2 yrs.

@spinjenny, you're so lucky!!! lol. happy for u, ur braces are coming off, yay!! i've a long way to go. are u happy with ur smile now :) ? what problems did u have with your teeth? gaps, crowding, etc? and has the braces fixed everything perfectly? are u going to be wearing retainers? once u get powerchains, you're going to be wearing them until the end of ur treatment? i wud guess so. well congrats to u. and yea after a week i was able to eat ok, but those powerchains were torture.

charlotte7997 1 year ago
@charlotte7997
It depends on how much space there is. Bu it is typically several months.

I DONT WANT TO SEEM RERE ASKING THIS BUT IDC.. HOW DO THEY GET THE METAL TO STAY ON THE TEETH?
JackJack967 1 year ago
@JackJack967 - Special bonding technique.. First acid etch the teeth to roughen the surface. The base of the bracket is made with a fine screen mesh. Then a special adhesive is used to bond the two together.
georgiacowboy 1 year ago
@JackJack967 they used this type of cement and a light to put mine on, fucking braces lol.

mine didnt hurt at all, just pressure.
and it gets rid of the ugly gap.
and it makes your braces look soooo much cuter.

@jesusgirl1994 You've got nothing to worry about. The spacers will probably annoy and hurt you a bit for the first few days, but i rememer having them and it really wasnt that bad! Hope that helps.
