@thiskyle its almost the same however mac does produce a better trackpad. The differences are very slight thought and it took me about a week to be very comfortable with the trackpad to the point where it is just as functional as apples. But HP's trackpad does support multi-touch gestures (like zoom) and that thing that macs do where if you push anywhere on the trackpad it goes down and physically clicks. The downfalls are it is SLIGHTLY smaller and takes a little getting used to.
@gdguyman Hard to say. I own a Pavilion dv7 for half a year now and I'm really happy with it! I've got a 500GB hdd at 7200 RPM and apparantly there's another hdd-bay inside the laptop already. Some of the common problems to the envy-series (keyboard-flex) do not occur on the Pavilion, but the Pavilion is made out of plastic around the keys. I think a Pavilion with the same specs as an Envy would be cheaper, but they both are absolutely amazing! (sorry for possible spelling errors)

i have this laptop.. the 7 hour battery life is not true... 4 and half hour tops... pc's are never good w/ battery life. and that's just web browsing... no gaming, nothing heavy.
does it blend? Because my HP Pavillion DV6 did after some genies designed it with RAM Allocation Problems. Oh and did I mention the system gets to hot within an hour. Thanks HP...

I've had my iMac 21.5 inch with 500GB memory for a little over a year now, it's fantastic. Not flawless, and wi-fi is sometimes an issue, but great great computer. Now I've been using a PC all my life but got sick of the fucking speed and the constant glitches, although am thinking of getting this one because I need mobility. I'd get this, definitely.
This laptop its perfect to its price!, it's Great performance, and has nice range of upgrade for yet a very accessible price in relation to it's amazing performance and specs!. Without mentioning its great weight and size. And it's yet really pretty because of its simplicity. Much more like Mac Laptops, but anyways, personally prefer one of these :P.

i just got this computer today, i must say it's quite good... i'm in love with it... feels hefty, sturdy... i think they sorted things out with the touchpad, it feels better than with the dm4... feels a bit hot but i think the graphics card and what not can be disabled or somthing...if you don't require to use it at the moment. the keyboard feels great to type with... i used to be a bit skeptical about the island/chiclet keys... but it feels very good.

@ljyup No, it's an option you can add when customizing the laptop. It's an extra battery that is physically-shaped like a sheet of aluminum. You snap it onto the bottom of the laptop, like a docking station.
Seems nice but lacks firewire. Might be a dealbreaker for some since a lot of external professional audio and film gear use firewire to connect with the computer...

@zachbaseball1107 As for viruses...MACs already have tons of viruses. Apple now recommends that you run Norton, McAffee, or some antivirus software. Just good a simple google search and you will find many sources on this matter. As for OSX, it's a matter of personal choice...but many people prefer real security with windows 7 rather than security through obscurity with OSX.

I just got mine today and i luv it. i was staring into the screen watching a video ( 2min at full radiance ) and when i looked up my vision was blurry, kind of like i had been staring at the sun. That's how bright it gets .
Just cause apple uses an aluminum oft doesn't mean it's a rip off, it's just a good idea and I wouldn't be surprised if the aluminum body eventually becomes a laptop standard. I just ordered the 14 with an i7 and 6gbs of Ram, can't wait to get it

Thats a really nice computer. Everyone says it looks like the macbook pro and it truly does. But I really don't see why that is bad, its the look of precision. seems that a good looking computer outside requires a great looking inside to match. depends on what you will be using the lappy for. The only difference between the i3 and i5 is the fact that the i5 has turbo boost, that's it. For me personally I prefer the the i3 370 over the i5 450m. the i3 out of the box is faster than the i5 450m without it's turbo boost activated
Got the envy14 had it built w/ 17-720 qcore, 6g ddr3, didnt really care for Hd storage( replace it w/ ssd) and the 5650 that was compatible w/ qcore processor was nice. battery was ok, will wat do u expect w/ this kind of high powered build,but the extended battery helped for sure. used it for my adobe cs4, cod 2 w/ amazing ..amazing.amazing resolution. i think its worth spending more than $1200 on this machine. and YES they fix the heating problem.
@delonh92 ..the envy slimm battery is not available online, you have to call and MAKE SURE to confirm that its the actual slim battery. you can get it for under $100.

This laptop does NOT last 7 hours on core battery, trust me, I've tried to make it last.
You'd be more likely to get around 4 hours running core i5 with integrated GPU.
Still, battery life isn't my main concern as the GPU on this thing is amazing for the price, size and weight of this laptop ^^

i just got this computer today, i must say it's quite good... i'm in love with it... feels hefty, sturdy... i think they sorted things out with the touchpad, it feels better than with the dm4... feels a bit hot but i think the graphics card and what not can be disabled or somthing...if you don't require to use it at the moment. the keyboard feels great to type with... i used to be a bit skeptical about the island/chiclet keys... but it feels very good.

@ieatbullets I just cancelled my order. You have a good point & thanks for the tip.. A laptop such as this should be PORTABLE without cords attached. I did a phone order for the Envy 14 beats edition, i5-580M, 4GB RAM (1dimm i'll add my own 4GB) with 256 GB SSD. HPA price $1660.49 minus $100 discount (i asked for extra discount haha) and 2.5% CC rewards for pre-tax price $1521.48 ISN'T THAT AMAZING?

@ljyup No, it's an option you can add when customizing the laptop. It's an extra battery that is physically-shaped like a sheet of aluminum. You snap it onto the bottom of the laptop, like a docking station.

Macs are always, underpowered, overpriced and lack of software.... for me OSX was mostly useless, had to use windows on my mbp for games, and matlab. .... yeah i feel like a dumbass buying that MBP.... well at least it was easy to that piece of shit...

@zachbaseball1107 As for viruses...MACs already have tons of viruses. Apple now recommends that you run Norton, McAffee, or some antivirus software. Just good a simple google search and you will find many sources on this matter. As for OSX, it's a matter of personal choice...but many people prefer real security with windows 7 rather than security through obscurity with OSX.

Because it was Sony that created the keyboard styling that has made the Macbook Pro so famous, and it was Sony that first made a laptop out of aluminum casing. These two features first appeared in the, back then, top of the line VAIO. Then HP followed suit, creating the ENVY. Finally, Apple added their "black and silver" trademark and called it magical....

I just got mine today and i luv it. i was staring into the screen watching a video ( 2min at full radiance ) and when i looked up my vision was blurry, kind of like i had been staring at the sun. That's how bright it gets .

Just cause apple uses an aluminum oft doesn't mean it's a rip off, it's just a good idea and I wouldn't be surprised if the aluminum body eventually becomes a laptop standard. I just ordered the 14 with an i7 and 6gbs of Ram, can't wait to get it

Thats a really nice computer. Everyone says it looks like the macbook pro and it truly does. But I really don't see why that is bad, its the look of precision. seems that a good looking computer outside requires a great looking inside to match. Amazing Job Hp, though I am still getting a macbook pro... but I would get an envy if it didn't run windows

depends on what you will be using the lappy for. The only difference between the i3 and i5 is the fact that the i5 has turbo boost, that's it. For me personally I prefer the the i3 370 over the i5 450m. the i3 out of the box is faster than the i5 450m without it's turbo boost activated

Got the envy14 had it built w/ 17-720 qcore, 6g ddr3, didnt really care for Hd storage( replace it w/ ssd) and the 5650 that was compatible w/ qcore processor was nice. battery was ok, will wat do u expect w/ this kind of high powered build,but the extended battery helped for sure. used it for my adobe cs4, cod 2 w/ amazing ..amazing.amazing resolution. i think its worth spending more than $1200 on this machine. and YES they fix the heating problem.
