  • Indy the best racing event of the world???? ... hahaha let me laugh... they always drive with formula one of 1980 haha. and the driver are not good as the formula one drivers... we saw Bourdais, Zanardi, Montoya and all... 1000 km far away from formula one!

  • Was that the Rocket? Rick Mears qualifying in 1991? Looked like it.. He rules. Was that him? I'd love to see more video of his pole runs!

  • I think that was Al Unser Sr in 89. If you listen carefuly you can hear its a new track record in the background. And Mears didnt set a track record in 91

  • i've gone to 2 of the last 4 and i still don't know why i bother to buy a seat.....i never sat down!! balls out baby. the 500 is eternal.

  • Ghoul

  • TUBECOMMENTS.(INFO) post your ad all over youtube! Outrageous !

  • I know I've got nothing on those people that go to the Indy 500 year after year, but this year I went to my first Indy. I hope that everybody that appreciates this video would go to that race at least once. From the military flyover to taps to "Back Home Again In Indiana" to "...Gentlemen Start Your Engines" and then to have my seats on the straightaway just past turn 4 and witness the start.....talk about emotional! I'll never forget it!

  • The perfect ending to this..."You just don't know what Indy means"

After 40 years of being conscious of the Indy 500, I'm going to my first one this year (section H) - already my mind is traveling at 225 mph!

  • This is the greatest racing event in the world

  • anyone willing to go 150 mph or more that close to a wall is crazy it dont really matter what car you are in.I dont think we can really talk smack until we plaster our ass into the seat of an atomic death wagon, and run for it.Skill helps but a death wish seals the deal.

  • John Andretti told me, that of all the forms of racing he's tried -- CART, IRL, NASCAR, NHRA, etc -- that modern NASCAR is the toughest.

  • He wasn't good enough to do F1....so there is the hole in that statement.

  • F1 drivers couldnt handle Indycar(except Nigel Mansell and Emmo). they dont have the nerves to go 230 mph for 400 miles, going 3 wide for the whole race. too dangerous for them. and thats OK. theyre just too scared is all. i dont think im ever going to be proved wrong either.

  • Maybe they can earn more in Formula 1.I think that everyone driving in Formula 1 is as least as fearless as the drivers of any other high-speed racing league.Michael Schumacher for example told after his retirement that he is not interested in Nascar simply because he prefers "real" tracks and not "ovals". That is a point that i can understand. If you don´t like these simple "ovals",then you won´t be interested in some American Racing Leagues. I don´t think this has anything to do with fear.

  • Had everything to do with fear. He spoke of American racing on high speed ovals bounded entirely by concrete walls "insaine". He said he would never strap himself into a car at Indy.

  • why do you think they stopped racing on Monza's oval? too fucking dangerous for them

  • It's amazing how fans of one sort of motorsports think that only their drivers are any good.... Jackie Stewart was once offered a drive in a sprint car, and declined because he left his helmet at his hotel room. When offered a helmet, he told the sprint car guys that he'd left his balls back in the hotel room too.

  • F1 sucks

  • and indy is still gay...

  • Man!Oval race gay drivers! F1 is the greatest period

  • uh...uh...good point

  • Video isn't bad except the 2006 Indy-500 race finish that hurt my ears (so much loud treble). Could have done better with the rest of the clips.

  • Who in the right mind will someone say "Oval race gay drivers" for when people don't even know the Indy-500 race or their American-type of Sport.

And you are from Greece? If you don't know Oval-racing, just do some research on the Indy-500 before thinking about calling the racing a joke.

  • sorry to insult your drivers...but other types of racing like F1 & WRC are light years beyond "indy car racing"...Believe me I lived in the States for 4 years and I know what Indy cars are...

  • im from indianapolis, and i grew up watching the Indy 500 every year since i was 4, and i would always watch the World Drivers Championship. every year. if F1 cars today raced on the oval, with their current cars, they would go slower than the indy-cars did in the 80's.

  • Man...Shut the Fuck Up...F1 & WRC are the pinnacle of racing...Ignorant mutant kellog's eater...

  • That's exactly our point! Indy and NASCAR don't have as good equipment, which makes those cars harder to drive, therefore making better drivers and better racing. You'll get a much better show if you give everyone cars that don't handle as well.

  • That's actually a pretty good point. F1 is considered the "elite" racing league, but think about it.. If an indy car is harder to drive than an F1 car, then the indy drivers are better, technically.

  • Emmo came to Indy, and did quite well - I saw him run once. They asked Emmo why more F1 drivers didn't come over, and he replied, "Because they don't have any balls." True story, told to me by the person who heard it.

  • most F1 drivers are too scared to run this race, for fear of being killed/permantly injured

  • @jimayas F1 is a bunch of shit. they give Seb a penalty for no reson.
