firstly i must greet you I truly realize now that our people perish due to lack of knowledge. If you want to learn first you must learn not to condemn.
Even Jesus said it "He came not to condemn but to fulfill the will of his Father. Orisa as it should be correctly spelt not saints. They are all counterparts of God himself. They are his energies that evolves around us every day. So when you condemn that you condemn God's creation. Its as God to be the SUN and the RAYS of the SUN to be Orisa.
I agree you dont have to mourn to be spiritual gifted and one cannot as well be made a priest cause a priest is not made they are born. Mourning within the spiritual baptist faith its definition is "A Godly Sorrow" Its a period of prayer and fasting which one seclude themselves from the world to communicate quietly with God.
Through that period of seclusion they will be advised through may be dreams and visions or even have angelic visitations. Yes according to the ability of the individual God will see them as a vessel to be used in his kingdom and the gift of healing, eyes of faith, prophesy etc might be attained.
if you have a problem with another belief system its ok but condemning what you truly dont know is bad. I have come always to realise that anything afrocentric is demonised daily because there are some mysteries behind them and it reveals TRUTH that has been hidden from us.
Orisa as i said are not saints. Saints are the standard operating model for human beings. In fact, in the biblical sense of the word, all believers are saints. "Sanctity" means holiness. All men, women and children, born or unborn, beautiful or ugly, straight or gay, are holy, for they bear the image of God.Saints are not the opposite of sinners. There are no opposites of sinners in this world.
There are only saved sinners and unsaved sinners. Thus holy does not mean "sinless" but "set-apart:" called out of the world to the destiny of eternal ecstasy with God.
An Orisa is a spirit or deity that reflects one of the manifestations of Olodumare (God) in the Yoruba spiritual or religious system. (Olodumare is also known by various other names including Olorun, Eledumare, Eleda and Olofin-Orun).
N ALL THOSE WORDS DO MEAN GOD BUT KNOW WHICH GOD IS BEING SERVED. JESUS IS THE ONLY SACRIFICIAL LAMB. I DONT NEED TO CALL ON NO OTHER MEDIATEOR BUT HIM...I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS..THE DEVIL SURE HAS HIS WAY OF CONVINCING PPL...ONE QUESTION...IF THE ORISHAS R THE SAME SAINTS WHY R THE MANIFESTATIONS DIFFERENT??? "QUESTION EVERY SPIRIT WHETHER THEY R OF GOD!!! PEACE!
@rbso6 i laugh at the word trapped. if anyone that is trapped r the believers in this nonsense. ive seen ages of things in the spirit n i met with a certain individual that told me not to accept such things. my gifts were not aquired on no mourning ground. they manifested wayyy before. nobody but the holy spirit taught me...I SEEKED KNOWLEDGE OF THE ORISHA N IT WAS NOT PLEASING TO ME AT ALL..i have seen St michael NOT OGUN. i have seen Profit Ezekiel not BONES MAN. I CAN GO FOR DAYS.
As folks who derive from Africa has been taught to hate what's OURS. We hate our own kind, we hate our religions etc. I will leave you with this...KNOWLEDGE IS POWER (under the direction of God, Olodumare, Brahmin, Yaweh, Allah). If you compare your path with other paths, you will find similarities. But you continue to be trapped in the box that was drawn for you over 150 YEARS AGO! Peace and Blessings to you @ MsLb83
@MsLb83 Take your fellow White man into the Mourning Room and you ask him what his response would be. Would he say, this atmosphere draws me closer to God? Would he be astonished with the seals on the walls and the ground and say, this is Devil worship? There's a 90% chance that he will describe it as "devil worship." You, knowing what the Mourning ritual is about would be offended.
If you study Orisa Worship, I don't mean practice, but as in inquire knowledge about this religion and several other African Traditional Religion (ATR'S), these practicioners do believe in ONE God. The Orisa or natural forces are energy from the very main source you speak about. The Spiritual Baptist faith is predominantly a Christian based religion, but you can't deny its African roots.
i believe only in ONE GOD....THE ALMIGHTY GOD....CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH AND IN JESUS CHRIST HIS ONLY SON OUR LORD....according to my knowledge n experience in the spiritual realm, this is madness. the africans r well known for their idolism....the scripture declares set ur affections on the things on heaven, not the things on earth. n the orishas r no different from sinful humans. the r simply earthbound spirits trying to interrupt the will of God....i DO NOT BELIEVE IN THEM. THEY R FALSE!
@MsLb83 this is an Orisha ceremony in Trinidad passed down from the Yoruba in West Africa. its a little bit different than Spiritual Baptists. Spiritual Baptists originated in America and was brought to the Caribbean by African American refugees from American war for independence. The Orisha - Yoruba religion came with the slaves from Africa and has survived all these years. They are in red representing the Yoruba god Shango. lookup Shango Orisha or Yoruba religion.
@MsLb83 although Spiritual Baptists do have some connection to African traditions...the Orisha are very African-centered and believe in different Yoruba gods. you can find Orisha in different parts of the Caribbean & South America in places like Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Brazil etc.

So a SAINT and ORISA is two different entity.
