It's kind of sad that local and state governments are taking advantage of this clean technology by taxing it at a rate that makes it comparable to gasoline's cost. Damn bureaucrats.
I live in OK and thankfully our CNG pumps are still selling at around .91¢ gge, while in New York state prices are around$2.50 gge.
Companies price gouging is one thing, but it's a sad indication of our elected officials greed and contempt for new technologies when the government is doing the gouging.
What is the impact of using CNG on the horse power of the car? I have heard that it drops significantly. Honda's with a gas engine have usually 200hp and above.
I own a Civic GX and yes, there ARE a few compromises. The trunk is about half the size due to the fuel tank, and the acceleration is a but slower although not dramatically so. The car's range is only about 200 - 240 miles on a fillup, and there is not a CNG refueling site on every corner.
Our problem in the US is we still consider driving as recreation rather than just a way to get from point A to point B. We MUST drop this mindset for the sake of the environment and our nation's future.
More CNG fueling stations, please. I've had mine for 4 years and it's a great eco-car. Clean, drives like a regular Civic. But it's only as good as the local infrastructure. Get a few more pumps out there so people can drive clean (and in the carpool lane solo) w/o being tethered to a neighborhood. C'mon energy co's and politicians. Get w/it.
What's I'd like to know is how much do you save in one of these as far as fuel economy?
I may look into getting one of these used with about 50k miles on it.
How much in general does it cost to fill the tank with CNG?

sadly CNG prices go up a lot too
we need 'bio-trash-reactors' for our homes, throw your leftovers in it, wait a week and fill up your car!
