We are all musicians and performers can't we unite on that fact? Be grateful CPS didn't cut the music program. @sjb811 - He made her do a full audtion, however when he audition me when he asked did I have any prior choral experience before when I said I was in The Kenwood Academy Concert Choir for three years not only I was told not to audition because I got in the Concert Choir because I was in the Kenwood Concert Choir he offer me a 5,000.00 scholarship. You know what is so funny I go to college with a girl who was in the Lincoln Park Singers by which was founded by my god mother Mrs. Gaberlyn Watson- Foster until she left to go to Kenwood Academy. We both had audition to get in the Concert Choir at our school the professor made her did a full audition.

Both programs are great. Also people never really know the reasons why teachers transfer to other schools so the best thing to do is to work on your own music and be the best you can be without hating.....peace.

How come when I was getting awards for being in the LPHS Concert Band, Orchestra, Marching Band and Pep Band nobody from Kenwood was. Yes, our depatment may be going down but who's band is getting the perfect scores? Who's band is being invited to Mid-West, Northwestern, etc. ??? Our band was playing music that was a much higher level than Kenwood could ever dream of playing!!!
Uh sweetie, KA concert band, Jazz, & concert choir STILL receive superior ratings @ contest. The band received HONORS superior ratings @ both state AND city.
LP music program is no longer good anymore. It fell off in 2004 HARD; & then YOUR schools choir teachers left there to come teach at KA. Then another choir teacher left after that one the next year 2 go teach @ whitney young. they no longer wanted to be apart of LP shitty program. LP music program has gone down the toilet...like boo boo
@waynee8 the bands and orchestras at lp received honors superior at city and state. maybe you should take a look at ihsa we are second in class AA of state whitney young is 7th. kenwood appears NOWHERE on any of the top ten lists

@DenMor7 Hooney, ur allll types of wrong . Lincoln park fell ALL. THE. WAY. OFF. Years ago. LP is no longer the best. What LP was, is no longer present. That's why music teachers are starting to LEAVE LP to teach @ schools that having thriving programs now. LP was great at their peak..... but it's gone now. Long gone.

Of course, we have the best band out of all CPS schools. we are the only CPS school on the top 50 music programs in the state, number 9 i believe.
