Most people played Doom @ 320x200 VGA even on 66mhz 486 PCs so it's a bit stupid to expect a planar NOT chunky graphics machine with even a 25mhz 040 (A4000) to run any FPS above 320x200/256 anyway

gloom 1 and 2 were good, I used to have this too, was it official? I cant remember but I thought it was pants, I was able to get all the glooms running at 640x480 with my blizzard 1230 accelerator!

Yes it was official - no way you go the glooms going at that res on 030, even with 060 it was struggling.

a true classic , not ripped off previous incarnations at all, I like the voice overs, the fact that the undead craved "wine" was particularly inspired. The intro voices and story were also rather exceptional, I like the accent of the narrator, sounds like a northern person in a cookie jar so to speak. I think the story writer deserved a bigger cut of the overall profits also.
