the whole fight is quiet unological, why would the machine attack in such an uneffective manner? just throw some poison gas or other abc weapons down there and humanity would be eradicated for good

Technically not true, since they're not technically wasting anything (Aside from the AI's that run the sentinels) as everything that they lose can just be melted down and reused.

Also, gases and other weapons aren't as effective as tedious machine-to-man fighting. If an area is cut-off or secured against attack, they'll have to break through the defenses to deploy the gas or weapon. But a swarm attack means they can simply count the deaths and tally it.

Znistus the armor is still useless because the machines can still penetrate it with their lasers and it would only add weight to their APUs making them harder to manuever. the sentinels are fast and having armor on APUs would only make the APUs move slower and the pilots also need space so they can see sentinels clearly. and so they don't need armor. they need more metal for guns and weapons, don't you know so why waste it on armor?

Cpt. Mifune is fucking badass!!!!!! More badass than Neo for sure. The scene where Cpt Mifune is one of the last standing APU shooting at all of the sentinels is my favorite scene. He took alot of the Sentinels out with his APU guns.
