Holy Crap it's Captain Crunch how the heck are ya? We met at the 2008 JT in north fork I was with Warner R. contact me thru him and we will chat some.
Love the vids, you have the neatest didjes. I like the beatbox-rhythm style, I do quite a bit of that style myself. It's not what everyone's used to but it'll catch on. That coming from a person who puts distortion on their clarinets... LOL
hmm sounds like beatboxing, didgeridoo is for meditating, that didnt sound too soothing, no offense bro, i guess everyone just got their own style and flow
@MomoTheBellyDancer the lips (and airstream as it travels through the instrument) can only produce one pitch at a time, so... no, you cannot produce a toot without stopping the fundamental drone. However, if a toot is done quickly and you immediately return to the drone, it can almost sound like the drone continues uninturrupted.
@shereebbks (Copied from 8 months ago) The recorder on the floor is a ZOOM H2, fantastic little tool I use to help catch sound bites of musical ideas so I can refer back to them later... like an audio sketchpad. :)
By the way... I can assure you I was indeed performing what you see on the video. O.o
great job man! i never herd of a didgeriddo until today and you were the first to pop up and i was stunned on how well you played it. keep it up, you're fantastic dude!
@lakai931 Thank you! If you'd like to hear some additional music, I recently released my first solo album titled "Hollow Voices". Please visit the Tree Man Gathering website and listen to the sample tracks. I can send you a hard copy, or the album is also available for digital download on CDBaby, soon to be available on Amazon and iTunes.
You have really nice didgeridoos and nice beard :P :D I´m also playing didg, but just like beginer, but my instrument is profesional and perfect made, so I have just to skill up... Keep up good videos :P
Neat video, at first I thought it was a bit weird that you were recording this shirtless, though soon realized you are (hopefully) recording in your own home.
I found it helpful to be able to see what the chest/abdomen were doing in relation to the playing and breathing.
Yes, definitely in my own home, LOL! I was in the middle of a practice session during late summer (hence shirtless), and wanted to grab the camera and recorder before the idea vanished.
Glad the view of the abdomen and breathing technique were actually helpful!
The recorder on the floor is a ZOOM H2, fantastic little tool I use to help catch sound bites of musical ideas so I can refer back to them later... like an audio sketchpad. :)
I use the ZOOM H4, which I believe is the big brother of the H2...and as you say both amazing tools to get quick demos or field recordings with. I use my H4 as a studio mic as well as field recorder to get ambient sounds. Well worth the money.
lol, sorry you can't appreciate different styles of music on an instrument.
If we kept all things "original", then we'd still be listening to acoustic lutes with gut strings playing renassance music, instead of the modern electric guitar so prominent in a wide variety of today's musical genres.
"Beat Box" didgeridoo is just another form of musical and rhythmical expression, no less viable than "traditional" yirdaki.
i ve watched some of your vids now and you play well! but maybe i can give you some advice: from observation you play less of a constant tone but more single notes which is not bad but one can create much tension and release if you vary more between motives. do you understand what i am trying to say?
By varying between "motives", do you mean varying between rhythmic ideas?
If not, then no... I don't really understand what you're trying to say. ;)
Most of my YouTube vids are short samples of rhythms, not meant to be considered compositions or "performances". I do appreciate the input though, and hope to hear back from you with any other info you want to share. :)
Good! It remembres me a bit of Ondrej Smeykal/Jake Duncan but with something different. They are a little bit better than you in technical skills (especially Ondrej) but if you go on like this you can be a skillful and orignal player.
Wow, such a complement to be compared to those two, thank you! Both are indeed fantastic players, and Ondrej is indeed a big influence on how I approach didge playing, performance, and composition. I am fortunate to have seen both players perform live @ JT, and am looking forward to having Ondrej as a guest artist at my school in just a few weeks during the first week of March.
Hi CCat this is one of my fav rhytms thx for up´n it

@BluEagle717 Didgeridoo is for whatever you want it to be for...
Meditation is just one possible use for this great instrument, it certainly is not specifically for meditating.
clarinetcat 1 year ago
@BluEagle717 What?? The Didgeridoo is a musical instrument..... it's not a meditation tool.

@Cre8iveSignWorks A gourd didge purchased in 2007 from Geoff Frost, also available from the didgeridoostoredotcom. I've been playing 10 years now.

Can you also play those toots without interrupting the drone?
