  • wow great video footage! How do you do it?

  • Flying Tigers all the way! Great Video~

    Thanks~

  • 1:43 - 1:45 excellent pass

  • Love the P40 WarHawk! One of my fav WWll fighter planes! Thanks for posting!

  • while the p39 had a slower roll rate, the slower speed meant that it actually got to use that peak roll rate more throughout the dog fight. I dont know if you have read "An ace of the 8th" by Norman Fortier but even he said this:

Compared to the p-39, the p40 handled like a mack truck.....

He went on to talk about how everything was harder in the p-40 than the p-39....even just climbing to 10,000 feet.

  • P-40 rolled fast but the P-39 rolled faster. FACT

  • Actually, I don't think that is fact.

The roll rate data I have for a P-39D-1 was recorded as having a peak roll rate of 75 dps @ 235 mph, whilst the P-40 (H81) has a recorded roll rate of 135 dps @360 mph.

Whilst I don't know what stick force was applied in the P-40, it seems that it was 50lbs for the P-39.

The improved P-63 had a higher roll rate than the P-39 (peak of 110 mph @ 250mph), but as you can see, it was still below that of the P-40.

  • U.S.A.A.F US Army Air Force!

  • One word WARHAWK! Kittyhawk to the Brits and Commonwealth forces who used it but strangly New Zealand called the Tomahawk!Curtiss P-40 Warhawk!

  • I'm working on a RC P40 which has a wingspan of 80+ inches

  • What brand is the Prop? Nice Vidoe!

  • According to my references, the propeller originally fitted to the P40 was the Curtiss Electric C5315S with 614-1C1.5-12 Blades, and was 11ft Diameter.

However, according to the original CAA AIRWORTHINESS APPROVAL NOTE (AAN), the propeller used on G-KITT is a Curtiss Electric model C532DF99, 10' diameter, with blade type No. 89303-24. This of course could have been changed since, as this ANN was issued in 1998.

Btw, a few of the P40's flying today actually use Hamilton Standard props!

  • That's where were at their best, at low altitudes, where the lack of performance at altitude didn't matter so much. The Russians made good use of them as well.

  • Pilot flies it hard-seldom seen with P-40s here thanx

  • I love the P40, the geezer yapping on the PA system not so much..

  • 'very lovely' lol

  • It had to be the only decent plane ever made by curtiss

  • The P-40 would have been a better aircraft if it's Allison V-1710 engine had a two-stage supercharger like the Rolls Royce Merlin did in the Spitfire and P-51 Mustang to perform at high altitudes above 20,000ft.

  • love the sound of the unburnt fuel exploding in the hot exhausts as he throttles back for the landing. awesome plane!

  • What a beautiful sound. I wish I could duplicate it with my single piston 4 cycle RC engine in my P-40 model. It would be the best thing that I could do for it as well as get the exhaust to exit out of the fake exhaust stacks on the side, instead of out of the engine cooling cowels because of the exhaust heat issue. Great video that I will save and watch over and over.

  • That sweet Allison engine, built right here in Indianapolis. Sounds just as sexy as the Merlin in the P-51

  • Absolutely.

  • This aircraft has a stunning aileron performance at all altitudes, that's why it could shoot down the formidable Zero relatively easily.

  • The P-40 Warhawk or Kittyhawk as the Brits called it was a blessing for it kept the Japs and Jerries at bay till more modern fighters like the P-51 Mustang came along to turn the tide in the Allies favor.

  • I think I just fell in love oO

  • realy is a wonderfull sound

  • It's hard to find video of this bird. Thanks for posting this.

  • saw it recently at shoreham was awesome

  • Excelente maniobras se realizan en esa exhibicion. Congratulation

  • I love this plane. Think it because of the teeth and eyes and it just a great plane.

  • yeah she is a nice bird. definetly up there with the magnificnet hawker hurricane.

the hurri takes my number 1 spot though. always will.

  • Nice Vid,nice Plane = very nice :-)

  • P-40 may not be as fast as the other ones but shes a beauty GOOD WORK!
