Yeah well ps3 is a 6 year old system and its still better than 360. Im not a ps3 fanboy cause I like the PCs graphics cause I know they are better although I played crysis2 on ps3 and 360 and to me the ps3s graphics are way better its much smoother gameplay and it has much less lagg. But PC (my opinion) has 10x of what the ps3 has 5x better than the 360.

Regardless pc's will always have better graphics. It just depends on the person and how much money they or their parents have. Consoles have good graphics and dont need costant upgrades. @crazytime666 I doubt it dude, because a new console gets released like every 5-7 years which means that it's using the same hardware during that time, where as PC they get new upgrades constantly. Also it's not just the graphics that are better on PC, it's everything else like Higher Resolution, Higher Frames a second (which means less lag and smoother gameplay) and better realistic effects in the game as well (in some cases). And yes PC does cost a lot more but you get a lot more out of it.

CryEngine 3 on the consoles looks like CryEngine 2 on Low-Medium settings with various shaders and fx turned off. At least they're trying to branch out, but considering the PC is 2-3 generations ahead of consoles right now....no contest.
@manhunt48 Its obviously the PC as you can upgrade the hardwere every year. If it comes to Xbox360 and PS3, they aren't build the same way. PS3 doesn't need as much GPU power because it has much stronger Cell processor that works combined with RSX card to make PS3 exclusives look better then Xbox360. Sony started to use PS3 power in 2009 and now they are nearly using Its max potencial. Xbox360 has reached Its limits with Gears of War 2.

Such a shame the console version of Crysis 2 looks as average graphically as it does :/ there are MUCH better looking console exclusives. Anyway, while unfortunately consoles are limited by the age of their hardware, while computers can be regularly updated, the cryengine3 looks great for being used on consoles, its some really powerful stuff being adapted here.
ive noticed something missing in the console versions that was in cryengine 2 on the pc, if you look at 0:14 look at the palm tree leaves on the tree thats shot down notice when they hit the building it doesnt look like there is any physics at all on the new engine on crysis if you shoot the leaves they react, in fact if anything touches them they react. I know its only a demo but youd think it would have the exact same stuff cryengine 2 had to demonstrate it does the same but with improvements

Ps3 could handle crysis on high but not very high. Kz2 looks as good as crysis on medium but kz2 only uses about 60% of the ps3s power. And crysis 2 looks like crysis on high but not very high. So if they didn't make this for 360 it wouldn't look so bad. Ea is a king of making games shittyer just so it will be on 360. Money is all that matters to ea.

I just bought the extra 8gb of ram, since it was under 150$. It's gotten surprisingly cheaper for hardware nowadays, helps with rendering and modeling.

my monitor only supports 1440x900 (and its is very good).

@Pauloecia RUSE, a decent RTS. Apparently it was one of the first games to have touch screen functions as well. I like the game, it's fairly demanding as well at max settings.
@Pauloecia You're comparing the cell based processor from what, 2005? Then a phenom II which came out around 2009. That 4 year difference should mean alot. Not to say you're wrong, but the cell based processor has great potential, and hopefully there's a newer version on the ps4, instead of scrapping the cell idea entirely. You don't see them in regular consumer based computers, although the third super computer uses a cell based processor.
It would be in the best interest for consoles to adopt.
It uses 12960 of them, alongside nearly 7000 AMD Opterons.
Also, Sony has already mentioned the intention to use a regular multi-core processor on the upcoming generations of consoles due to the problems the unusual architecture caused to the PS3 developers (Softpedia article as source), and IBM has discontinued the Cell lineup after PowerXCell 8i, so a Cell-based PS4 is unlikely to happen.

However this is not the case with my main multiplayer FPS, Halo 3. It takes skill and accuracy to use the Battle Rifle effectively in Halo 3. Regardless pc's will always have better graphics. It just depends on the person and how much money they or their parents have. Consoles have good graphics and dont need costant upgrades. But with pcs you do and can have super amazing crazy graphics or typical ok visuals. I prefer consoles cause the games. @crazytime666 I doubt it dude, because a new console gets released like every 5-7 years which means that it's using the same hardware during that time, where as PC they get new upgrades constantly. Also it's not just the graphics that are better on PC, it's everything else like Higher Resolution, Higher Frames a second (which means less lag and smoother gameplay) and better realistic effects in the game as well (in some cases). And yes PC does cost a lot more but you get a lot more out of it.

CryEngine 3 on the consoles looks like CryEngine 2 on Low-Medium settings with various shaders and fx turned off. At least they're trying to branch out, but considering the PC is 2-3 generations ahead of consoles right now....no contest.

@manhunt48 Its obviously the PC as you can upgrade the hardwere every year. If it comes to Xbox360 and PS3, they aren't build the same way. PS3 doesn't need as much GPU power because it has much stronger Cell processor that works combined with RSX card to make PS3 exclusives look better then Xbox360. Sony started to use PS3 power in 2009 and now they are nearly using Its max potencial. Xbox360 has reached Its limits with Gears of War 2.

@ConsolePlayer64 You do realize that most Ps3 and Xbox 360 games are based on the Unreal3 engine or somewhat similar engine yes in theory the ps3 has a better Gfx card than the 360, if im not mistaken the ps3 has 7900GTX equiv, anyhow thats ancient hardware in terms of pc.
But where the ps3 and xbox 360 shines over the pc is support and number of games and market. :(
The pc could do soo much better. too bad there arent much games around as much as one would want. :(

Such a shame the console version of Crysis 2 looks as average graphically as it does :/ there are MUCH better looking console exclusives. Crytek just had to go spouting about how it would be "the best graphics on any console" when it has failed to match up to even KZ2, a 2 year old console game (and they have come a long way graphically since then) It would be fine if they had kept their mouths shut, but they had to go and say it would outdo Crysis 1 and every console game visually.... it doesnt

Anyway, while unfortunately consoles are limited by the age of their hardware, while computers can be regularly updated, the cryengine3 looks great for being used on consoles, its some really powerful stuff being adapted here.

ive noticed something missing in the console versions that was in cryengine 2 on the pc, if you look at 0:14 look at the palm tree leaves on the tree thats shot down notice when they hit the building it doesnt look like there is any physics at all on the new engine on crysis if you shoot the leaves they react, in fact if anything touches them they react. I know its only a demo but youd think it would have the exact same stuff cryengine 2 had to demonstrate it does the same but with improvements

Ps3 could handle crysis on high but not very high. Kz2 looks as good as crysis on medium but kz2 only uses about 60% of the ps3s power. And crysis 2 looks like crysis on high but not very high. So if they didn't make this for 360 it wouldn't look so bad. Ea is a king of making games shittyer just so it will be on 360. Money is all that matters to ea.

@ndaniel1997 The GPUs equivalent to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in performance (GT430 and HD5570) can only run Crysis on medium settings without dropping below 20 frames per second. So no, PS3 can't run Crysis on high.

@ndaniel1997 Not a lot. Only with post-processing effects (motion blur, depth of field, color grading...). For geometry, textures and shading, it's RSX alone.
So, since Cell's SPEs can handle post-processing, it's acceptable to say PS3 would run Crysis on "medium", but with the post-processing option on "high".

I hate when games always have the same requirements, just recently we've gotten out of the age of, "You need an Nvidia 6800 gt/equivalent Radeon card or better to play with high settings, and a dual core cpu at 2.1GHz or better!"
I run an Athlon IIx3 @ 3.4GHz/12gb DDR3 RAM/Radeon 5770 1gb
I just bought the extra 8gb of ram, since it was under 150$. It's gotten surprisingly cheaper for hardware nowadays, helps with rendering and modeling.

I was also thinking of buying a second 5770, but there's no taxing games for my computer, which defeats the purpose of wasting the extra money for more heat.
My computer cost 500$, with the monitor, about 700$ with all the upgrades over the 9 months since I built it. Using an ASUS 22", 1680x1050.

@Pauloecia You're comparing the cell based processor from what, 2005? Then a phenom II which came out around 2009. That 4 year difference should mean alot. Not to say you're wrong, but the cell based processor has great potential, and hopefully there's a newer version on the ps4, instead of scrapping the cell idea entirely. You don't see them in regular consumer based computers, although the third super computer uses a cell based processor.
It would be in the best interest for consoles to adopt.

It uses 12960 of them, alongside nearly 7000 AMD Opterons.
Also, Sony has already mentioned the intention to use a regular multi-core processor on the upcoming generations of consoles due to the problems the unusual architecture caused to the PS3 developers (Softpedia article as source), and IBM has discontinued the Cell lineup after PowerXCell 8i, so a Cell-based PS4 is unlikely to happen.

As a result of my superior intelligence with handling a PC and my willingness to pay more, I get the option of outstanding graphics and the ability to [download] mod/modify many of my games. Also, I'm not limited to the controller either (for cheating occasionally). But go ahead with a console if you're not as technical or as willing to pay, as me. @ATLMember Well that's basically what I was implying, you get what you pay for. And if you're talking about patching the games themselves, most of what I got is on Steam. But you're right, it does take a bit of knowledge for something like this, but you can always learn. I learned about all this hardware and graphics optimization just by looking up all these Crysis videos. I really am not a very hardcore gamer, but I wasn't ready to give up cheating, modding, multitasking, etc. yet.

@OvertardSupreme420 Yeah, well I love PC gaming, I switched over a while ago and its just so much more fun. But it's also more time consuming, I'm certainly not a "hardcore gamer" but I do play games a bit. The thing about PC gaming is, you can't just install any game and have it work, you need to make sure your computer will run it, and there are occasionally little bugs and oddities that need to be fixed.

@OldManNipples Why do people need a high end gaming PC? It's a luxury, not a necessity. A simple $500-$600 rig will easily play/max out modern games at a fair resolution like 1440x900 which is still higher than the consoles do.
