Only a narrow minded person would see the Bible as just words instead of its meaning. The message was we must unite to expel an official who has betrayed his country for personal interest. It doesn't matter if the payment was Gold or Silver, Peso or Dollar. What matters is CJ must be held accountable for his actions that seems to betray our country.

Even in our church or in the most progressive countries, there is still corruption but it doesn't excuse anyone, not the Cheif Justice nor the President, for evading accountability. If the President is corrupt then by all means let us hail him. Similarly, we should also be supporting efforts to make our judiciary more transparent. Impeachment is the ONLY constitutional process to check on CJ.

Im afraid that later on he will also defend the Arroyos. I hope and pray that it will not happen.

As one of the silent majority of the Filipino people, I believe it is better for CHIEF JUSTICE CORONA TO RESIGN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR DELICADEZA REASON. He is much identified to the Arroyos, and doubts of people will always be there if he is still in office. I hope and pray that he will resign before the final verdict of the Senate in order to save his face, and most of all, to let President Noynoy Aquino continue his battle against corruption.

This impeachment process is an opportunity for us - public - to scrutinize our leaders (CJ, senators, reps, PNoy). It's high time to inspect how our judiciary operate. We only need to open our minds and see that judges and justices are vulnerable to corruption too.

The system of Checks and Balances as first advocated by Polybius is made to exist in order to maintain an equilibrium of power in three existing major branches of the government. So no branch would be too great to be controlled...not the executive would be too powerful to subjugate the other branches...vice versa..but in our case...I firmly believe that the founding ideals of Checks and Balances are not followed..culpable violations of which are manifest and evident...

The ban on midnight appointments applies to ordinary government employees (including judges of the lower courts), but according to Corona, not to the Chief Justice. An ordinary government employee is preventively suspended when he is the subject of a disciplinary proceeding, but Corona will not take a leave of absence during his impeachment. And Corona claims he is upholding the law? He is acting as if he's above the law!
In summary, the Filipino people should not bend down to every decision and dictate of PNoy....let all voices heard and let the AUTHORIZED, LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL body to judge with it...Noone is above the law...that includes PNoy! Long live the Constitution and long live the Philippines!

Even in our church or in the most progressive countries, there is still corruption but it doesn't excuse anyone, not the Cheif Justice nor the President, for evading accountability. If the President is corrupt then by all means let us hail him. Similarly, we should also be supporting efforts to make our judiciary more transparent. Impeachment is the ONLY constitutional process to check on CJ.

He is much identified to the Arroyos, and doubts of people will always be there if he is still in office. This impeachment process is an opportunity for us - public - to scrutinize our leaders (CJ, senators, reps, PNoy). It's high time to inspect how our judiciary operate. We only need to open our minds and see that judges and justices are vulnerable to corruption too.
Whatever the outcome is, our nation will become stronger with the us participating in the debate on accountability and judiciary independence. Now, our opinions are heard but before we shout but our leaders don't listen.

@MrFritz121 No matter what the reason was, the fact remains that the PNoy was elected "overwhelmingly" on a campaign to eradicate corruption. Now, it isn't difficult to see why CJ is on trial now. Everyone has to be accountable. This is the lesson we should learn from past administration's unchecked abuses.
@iyobido Our Holy Bible has long been shared to the public for them to see and reflect on God's words for themselves. In the context of his speech, is silver vs gold really important?

@sft219 I agree,,,, I saw Cheche Lazaro's documentary yesterday on TV... shocked to learn about the over-power, secrecy, etc inside the Supreme Court..... every Filipino must read the book "Shadow of Doubt" featured in the program... cannot remember the name of the lady author who also appeared on the program.... is this book available now in bookstores? Yes, looks like the "mystical justices" are terribly flawed, starting with this Chief Justice.

The system of Checks and Balances as first advocated by Polybius is made to exist in order to maintain an equilibrium of power in three existing major branches of the government. So no branch would be too great to be controlled...not the executive would be too powerful to subjugate the other branches...vice versa..but in our case...I firmly believe that the founding ideals of Checks and Balances are not followed..culpable violations of which are manifest and evident...

The ban on midnight appointments applies to ordinary government employees (including judges of the lower courts), but according to Corona, not to the Chief Justice. An ordinary government employee is preventively suspended when he is the subject of a disciplinary proceeding, but Corona will not take a leave of absence during his impeachment. And Corona claims he is upholding the law? He is acting as if he's above the law!

i go for the defense...because this is not a fight for Mr. Corona but a fight for the constitution/due process and rule of law... it should not be political either as for the record the the past rulings of the Supreme Court do not always go in favor of GMA. and it is the Supreme Court that decides, not just Mr. Corona...it is the decision of the majority of the 14 justices and the Chief Justice...If you impeach Mr. Corona, you impeach the other justices. clearly, PNoy wants a puppet court!

Impeachment trial is the due process of law. How it's done is another thing. That's why livestreaming such as this makes Filipinos (and foreigners alike) "AWARE" of what is happening during the trial. We'll see coz if something goes wrong, it will be viral. Kung mahirap na tao ang may kaso, sa tingin ko, duon pa tayo mas pwedeng mag-assume na pwedeng walang due process. Sa impeachment trial na ito, laban ito ng mayayaman laban sa kapwa mayayaman. Tayong mahihirap ay audience lamang nila.
