part of the hero's journey is to realize a fatal flaw in himself and come back from the adventure with a life-changing insight (see transformation of Gandalf the Gray to Gandalf the White, for a simple example). "Blaspheme against Gandalf" may be too strong, given the religious overtones. Ray Winstone has a good history of playing a heavy, and Anthony Perkins says straight out he never read the book.
What you say intrigues me. I don't know who either of those people are. I do know Peter Jackson hates wizards; his words. Gandalf died, the wizard eldars sent him back to replace the now corrupt Saurumon and be the new white wizard till the third age ended. Then he "died" sailed to elven lands.
I used that word "blashpheme" because it's so strong and Gandalf rules! lol. I don't care about religious overtones. I would love to hear more about what you were saying though; maybe in email since this has such limited space.
