This song helps me hang on when I do stupid things while I'm trying so hard to follow the Lord. I stumble and fall so much, but he keeps picking me up, forgiving me, and giving me the Grace to keep going. I use this song and "What if I Stumble" as my mantras to keep going. Beside all the relegious Stuff (don't mean to offend) it's a good song for the most parts. It has got a good structure and nice lyrics. But I think the chorus "I wanna be in the light like you are in the light" sounds kind of... well... crude might be the closest to what i mean. That's not offensive. I agree. It is structured very well. The Chorus you mentioned(to someone who is religious like myself) is shaped like that because it sounds like scripture in a song lyric. That's why I think it's amazing.

@jjtjet1 People can pray for you, but you need to set yourself up for success. Stay away from most TV,commercials, movies especially those you know will have content that will help you fail. You have to train your eyes not to wander up or down when your around women, and it must be a practice. If your on a computer somewhere by yourself and you begin hearing the lies and temptation of the devil and flesh, LEAVE THE ROOM. Go anywhere, for a walk, a bite anything. Pray and think about it

@garveya1 sorry you feel that way.... God created us with the freedom of will. GOD IS LOVE. Human love (agape love) is only surface love (or lust) as I call it.
Why is because we have complex brains that can understand compassion and can create complex relationships. Plus the desire to love and be loved drives us to mate more often thus passing our DNA on more often.
As far as free will, it is only an illusion, you are driven by millions of variables each second that you are unaware of. The decisions you make are driven by genetics, upbringing, chemical balancing in the brain, other people, and many sub-categories of those variables.

He created love, he created the longing to be loved in us, he invented the chemicals in our brain, our genes and everything about us. In short he created science and holds it together. I felt what I thought at the time was 'God's love', but honestly looking back on it I was deceiving myself because all of my other christian friends felt gods love and I wanted to feel it too. Kind of a group think kind of thing.
Though I've never taking it, LSD and acid have much stronger effects than this feeling of God. In fact, many people who have been under the influence of these drugs said that they 'felt God' Basically I think it's all in your head (you disagree tho).
That's a sad but motivating story at the same time. You see though, many people use many different things to get them through difficult times. I think you do yourself a disservice by giving all the credit to some invisible entitiy that gives you a feeling of comfort, YOU overcame that life style and you should be proud of YOURSELF for that.

If your God is all loving I don't think there is a hell. The 10 commandments are in the Old Testament, yet there is no direct mention of eternal punishment in the OT. Surely your god is able to see the world through the eyes of an atheist, surely he is a just god and is understanding?

I don't think you can compare faith to science, faith is belief in something without evidence--you throw your mercy and yourself at the will of Christ for example. Science however, is the process by which evidence is gathered and tested. Science can be predicted, demonstrated, and repeated.

Plus we know very little about the authors of the bible, and the NT was written decades after the birth of Christ by people who weren't even eye witnesses to the events that took place. How can you say such and old piece of writing that has no first hand accounts is an accurate description of God?
I am not saying that I know 100% that there is no god, but I don't think he should be sought out in a piece of writing that is so flawed.

I apologize for my short post (com issues) So here's a consideration: what you said of science is true, however, creation (via big bang or God) is not something that is repeatable. Thus, science can never explain it. So we must turn to other evidences. Read a book called Mere Christianity by CS Lewis.
But you see that's not entirely true. For example, the Large Hadron Collider is being used to recreate the scenario of the big bang. That data can obviouly be tested, deomnstrated and repeated. So thought its not identical, we can still learn.
Plus though you are right by saying the big bang itself can't be repeated, we can however make predictions about certain things that we CAN demonstrate that would only be true if there was a mass expansion (big bang)--'redshift', for example.
Also, I'm a little bit confused why you would want me to go from the big bang (which I admitted can't be tested directly) to Christianity---a philosophy that is even more difficult to retest than the big bang itself.
Like I said, if Christianity was the answer, I'd be first on board--but religions are closer to philosophy than science, and science is closer to reality and philosophy. So we must go where the evidence takes us.
@garveya1 I made a mistake and I apologize. The truth is, I think the big bang and evolution are probably true. I think that you can believe those things and be a Christian. The ONLY thing they change, is the INTERPRETATION, Not the Truth, of Genesis 1. I believe that those may well be the tools that God used to create. So really to me, arguing evolution vs creation is a moot point.

Why is because we have complex brains that can understand compassion and can create complex relationships. Plus the desire to love and be loved drives us to mate more often thus passing our DNA on more often.
As far as free will, it is only an illusion, you are driven by millions of variables each second that you are unaware of. The decisions you make are driven by genetics, upbringing, chemical balancing in the brain, other people, and many sub-categories of those variables.

I felt what I thought at the time was 'God's love', but honestly looking back on it I was deceiving myself because all of my other christian friends felt gods love and I wanted to feel it too. Kind of a group think kind of thing.
Though I've never taking it, LSD and acid have much stronger effects than this feeling of God. In fact, many people who have been under the influence of these drugs said that they 'felt God' Basically I think it's all in your head (you disagree tho).

I don't think you can compare faith to science, faith is belief in something without evidence--you throw your mercy and yourself at the will of Christ for example. Science however, is the process by which evidence is gathered and tested. Science can be predicted, demonstrated, and repeated.

Thus, science can never explain it. So we must turn to other evidences. Read a book called Mere Christianity by CS Lewis.

But you see that's not entirely true. For example, the Large Hadron Collider is being used to recreate the scenario of the big bang. That data can obviouly be tested, deomnstrated and repeated. So thought its not identical, we can still learn.
Plus though you are right by saying the big bang itself can't be repeated, we can however make predictions about certain things that we CAN demonstrate that would only be true if there was a mass expansion (big bang)--'redshift', for example.

Also, I'm a little bit confused why you would want me to go from the big bang (which I admitted can't be tested directly) to Christianity---a philosophy that is even more difficult to retest than the big bang itself.
Like I said, if Christianity was the answer, I'd be first on board--but religions are closer to philosophy than science, and science is closer to reality and philosophy. So we must go where the evidence takes us.

@garveya1 I made a mistake and I apologize. The truth is, I think the big bang and evolution are probably true. I think that you can believe those things and be a Christian. The ONLY thing they change, is the INTERPRETATION, Not the Truth, of Genesis 1. I believe that those may well be the tools that God used to create. So really to me, arguing evolution vs creation is a moot point.

I was a big bang/evolution believing christian back in the day so i definitely here you there.

I've heard of it, and honestly I have full contempt for Ben Stein and his film. He clearly doesn't know a thing about how science works or the process by which science comes from the field and onto our text books.
If creationism had actual science and actual facts backing it up, I would be all for it. But we don't teach creationism next to evolution for the same reason we don't teach alchemy next to chemistry.

No, science is about collecting data, analyzing that date, experimenting with that data, repeating the experimentation and developing workable theories about that data.

Haha I like you. So self pwnage and you don't even know it. Theory in the colloquial terms isn't the same thing as a scientific theory. Theory in regular speah is like 'I have a theory of why Gorrillazunleashed didn't pay attention in science class' --an idea, but not for sure.
A scientific theory is a collection of principles, data, experimentation, etc--in science a theory CAN be fact ie. the theory of gravity, cell theory, atomic theory, Germ Theory, Chaos Theory (cont.)
