I know what its called, they are slowing inching up with every step, u can see it as they adjust when the camera moves closer. From what I learned its a common snareline thing :(
You'll actually notice stuff from even back to 03 sounding the same even as it does for the current year. Only Phantom sounds the same though right? No other lines sound the same from year to year correct? = D
ok i have march 5 years of corps, 1 on crown and 4 on phantom i was phantom quad captain in 06...
you probably are still in highschool on a shitty line...
i know many people that have marched bd, and if they saw what you write they would probably think your dumb, because they complement other corps, but they also admit when they suck...
lol, put the rhetoric aside for just a minute, kid, and look at the facts. anyone who has the 07 DVD knows which percussion section (and by that, front ensemble is included - leave it to idiot phantom regiment bandwagoners to use terms like "win drums" when drums are only half of the equation) played with the most clarity...BLUE DEVILS FOR LIFE!
You just had to make a gay reference...I'm sorry that the Blue Devils are my favorite drum corps of all time, I guess everyone who has favorite teams and organizations wants the "cock" from those groups' members. What a joke. Get a real argument.
lol @ this Phantom Regiment bandwagon-riding, knob-shining faggot. My latest theory is that liking Phantom Regiment actually turns people into homosexuals, so thanks for being Exhibit A. 8)

lol do you fucking retards think i give two shits about "drum titles"? i care that the blue devils are BY FAR the greatest, most championed drum corps in the history of the universe. in that regard, phantom regiment is like the washington nationals to the blue devils' new york yankees,so fuck you, kid. 8) oh, and by the way, lol @ autistic phantom regiment bandwagon "fans" practically taking turns sucking each other off while talking about how BD "isn't musical." good stuff, guys, keep it up. lol
You did care about "drum titles" in other BD vids. Funny I never noticed your gayness in BD horn videos just the drumline vids. I'm starting to wonder if your lil gimmick is just for kicks. Cause there's no way someone can be this big of a douche. Esp in a activity like drum corps. I would expect this crap from a sports fanatic with a 3 inch schlong.

lol...hating on me is hating on the truth, kid. fuck you. the Blue Devils are by far the greatest drum corps in the Milky Way galaxy, and they have the RINGS to show for it. lol this pathetic Phantom Regiment bandwagon is kind of like the Tampa Bay Rays bandwagon fans who dare to talk shit on the mighty New York Yankees. we all know the blue devils are the dominant entity, the Yankees of DCI if you will, so the Phantom bandwagon can take their rhetoric and stick it. 8)
If you like Blue Devils and dislike Phantom that's great. Stop shoving your "Blue Devils are fucking amazing" bull shit down everybody's throats when this is a Phantom Regiment video. Why would you even be watching this if you don't like them? I'm curious...
What is it with you and Phantom Regiment bandwagon? If anything, you're the one promoting Blue Devils bandwagon.
"They have the RINGS to show for it." Well since they win a lot, that must mean they're fucking great!!!
Blue Devils definitely have their good years, and I haven't seen one since 2005. There's other corps that are competing at the same level of Blue Devils. It's just what the judges think is the better show.
lol...I love when my forceful yet unbeatable combination of facts and well-worded opinions owns people so hard that they have no choice but to babble random vulgarities in my direction.
Keep it up! :D It only highlights who's winning and who's losing, you mentally retarded piece of shit. :)
I think it is fair to say BD is indeed a great Drum corps; however, perhaps that opinion would be better suited in a text comment to a BD clip as to not take away from the greatness that is the Phantom Regiment. Anyone who has marched should know that each line has it's strong points and that some days they are on and some days not. The guys that can be consistent will usually come out ahead. As for the BD rumor... dismiss it as just that and listen to the glorious beats that are at hand.
Also: I highly doubt they would pay THAT MUCH money and give up their whole summer just to "not have fun." The staff knows why the kids are there, and the kids know why they're there.
phantoms drumline is the one of the best, they are THE best when it comes to music and playing. they just need to find some show. they added a little bit this year and i think thats what got them by to win it but if they want to do it again they have to go over the top a little. they need to get out of their comfort zone and do something elaborate
it takes more than clean buzz rolls to get drums. its how together you are for every single note. but yeah their buzzes are pretty clean. I would say this was an overall dirty run for them at that point. check that tick at :50. i've heard them cleaner before they got the red drums. but they freaking cleaned up shop for finals :P
infernal7777 , you have to consider all angles here. Sure BD might have "complicated" licks in their music, but how does it blend with other parts, do the quad voicings make sense with the horn part, what are the players doing with the technique, and overall the interpretation and cleanliness of the book. There are a lot of things to take into account and I would have to say PR does the best to make the drums sing and create genuine music
the Phantom Regiment are really clean like the cleanest out there but they have no showmanship. Dont get me wrong they are one of the best drumlines in dci but they are not fun to watch and following the words of one of the all time greats "If your not having fun your doing it wrong"(Scott Johnson) and to me they dont look like there having fun
I'm sure they're having fun. They just aren't showing it. Several corps keep this mentality in rehearsal and on the field. At Memphis we were all business in warm up and on the field, but after we left the stadium we were high fivin' and joking around.
let the blue devils be the blue devils... you don't need a stick trick every phrase to be a good percussion section. in fact most people would tell you that bd's been slippin the past few years...
alright my question is if you think bd is so great, why are you watching a phantom video? plus phantom's better at certain things, and bd is better at certain things. phantom just so happens to be better at winning finals in 2008 :D
We had one of their mallet players teach at our school for our marching season, only because our percussion teacher was forced to leave by the city and the put our drumline instructer incharge, but he didn't know anything about mallets so he got some pro's from Drum cor's.

wow, i really love this clip a lot. that's pretty much the cleanest stuff i've ever heard. the buzzes are so freaking...not dirty! and the technique is top notch. it looks really good visually too, especially with those high arm parts. and the beginning sounds really really neat. i love phantom, they're so freaking amazing!
Wowza, very very very very very nice. Talk about unity, man! I'll also echo what everybody else is saying about the buzzes. The whole thing just shouts "I'm so damn CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Regiment is my favorite drumline in DCI in recent years (after SCV started going downhill....no offense, they still have more talent in one pinky nail than I have with both my hands :D)
SCV just has a little bit of consistency issues if you ask me. They play some stuff pretty damned clean and the faster you get the cleaner they were, like their earlier vids of this year were the shit for sure at a FAST speed. IDK about the slow stuff though.
Is it jsut me or did they have like the best sounding buzzs in drum corps history? I still dunno if they are beter than SCV 04 but they are definately up there.
uhh, yeah like its cool u all are saying its good because of musicality, because thats the biggest reason they are raw, but every thing they are playing is definitely hard who ever said its not
I dont know about you guys but this stuff is really fucking hard. When you get to talking about dynamics, musicality, etc. you're just talking about styles and such. Every line has its own style. Pretty much every Top 3 drumline of every year, is pretty fucking good and piss clean. Now, getting 1st at Finals has to do with a lot of factors. There is no "real" way to measure who is "best" at any given point, much less a whole show.
pretty sure the greatest drumline in history didn't win by playing the hardest technical stuff. they played what they had musically and with the same approach. that's why phantom is so kick ass this summer.
majority of this is dynamics, i would consider it that would need chops to do it but not super difficult. Once you toss in the friecking dynamics and variations they use on it, tell me this, could u even think of playing it. Any they went from piano to fortissmo so cleanly...

As for why it won high drums, that's because there was more to the show that 2:05... I don't even think that had the best stuff in it.

with all due respect that book sounds more like an exercise than a show....

truganjaman89 4 years ago
agreed.
that movie makes drumlines look horrible.
EchoSilence 4 years ago
uhh, yeah like its cool u all are saying its good because of musicality, because thats the biggest reason they are raw, but every thing they are playing is definitely hard who ever said its not
bwh89 5 years ago
I dont know about you guys but this stuff is really fucking hard. When you get to talking about dynamics, musicality, etc. you're just talking about styles and such. Every line has its own style. Pretty much every Top 3 drumline of every year, is pretty fucking good and piss clean. Now, getting 1st at Finals has to do with a lot of factors. There is no "real" way to measure who is "best" at any given point, much less a whole show.

no, there's the name test: If your corps name is not Phantom Regiment, you aren't the best.

pretty sure the greatest drumline in history didn't win by playing the hardest technical stuff. they played what they had musically and with the same approach. that's why phantom is so kick ass this summer.

kool!

awesome, my schools band went to go see them at that show
drummerboyfj 5 years ago
majority of this is dynamics, i would consider it that would need chops to do it but not super difficult. Once you toss in the friecking dynamics and variations they use on it, tell me this, could u even think of playing it. Any they went from piano to fortissmo so cleanly...

Kleanorfuzz, you obviously are musically retarded to think that this book is easy. Have you not even seen the rest of the show?
hotshothayes 5 years ago
he probably thinks the drumline on the movie is better than this one.
