Why did Joseph Smith the first Mormon prophet take women in marriage that were already married to other men? These women continued to live with their first husband and have children with their first husband after they were married to Joseph. I don't see women marrying more than one man permitted by God in the bible.
The Black Hawk Indian War was the longest and most destructive conflict between pioneer immigrants and Native Americans in Utah History. The traditional date of the war's commencement is 9 April 1865 but tensions had been mounting for years. On that date bad feelings were transformed into violence when a handful of Utes and Mormon frontiersmen met in Manti,
Some historians, in fact, suggest that Spain's Muslims arrived in America 500 years prior to Columbus. (956 would then seem accurate) America was the "New World" only to the Europeans. 34 If it weren't for the maps of Andalusian Muslim, Al-Idrisi (Dreses) Columbus wouldn't have been able to set sail, period. In October of 1492, Columbus claimed he saw a mosque and discovered "bearded men (like the men of Andalusia) who knelt for prayer 5 times a day."
CAMRILLO, Calif. -- Kurt Blickenstaff said The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Camarillo welcomes newcomers who wish to learn more about the Mormon faith in a "very family-centered church."
"We believe the best way to have happiness in family life is to center our teaching around the Lord Jesus Christ," said Blickenstaff, a Camarillo resident and president of the Mormon church's local stake. "We look to him for guidance and inspiration."
Each church congregation is referred to as a ward, and a stake is a group of wards.
Blickenstaff has been president of the Camarillo stake, which includes Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Somis, for seven years and will serve for another two to three years in the volunteer position.
Blickenstaff urges community members to ignore common stereotypes about Mormons and to find out for themselves about the Christian faith.
"contrary to Mormonism's claims of being a mainstream Christian sect, we discovered it clung to peculiar and offensive notions of polygamy, racial superiority, blood sacrifice, polytheism and Masonic-cult temple rituals."
It is interesting to hear of Steve Benson's experience of first hand workings of the LDS church Apostles and Prophets. Thanks Omiolo I did not know about him till you informed me. Amazing insight to the politics and business of LDS inc.
