I remember recording this on our fancy VCR and watching it over and over again, along with King Kong vs. Godzilla. I remember these Grandpa Munster segments as much as the movies themselves.
Thanks for the memories....Back when Cable TV was fun AND different.
TV TODAY SUCKS ASS.... this isn't just at TNT or TBS, it goes for all the others (USA , WGN etc) that USED to offer something OTHER than NetworkTV. Now.....all they are is Network TV's BITCHES that show THIER Re-Runs!
I freaking hate it and haven't watched Network Tv on a barely consistant basis in years.... Too bad I'm not a "Nielson Person"...then they'd know....
i think they should make a station, like TV land, only its old tbs/tnt shows and commercials from the 80's and 90's. they could show just random years, wrestling matches, original movies, shit like that. could you imagiine, watching "nitetracks" from 1987? i think that would be cool!!!
Super Scary Saturday, Saturday Nightmares, Commander USA's Groovy Movies... I miss these shows... These were what weekends awesome when I was a kid. Well, that and allowance.
Grandpa Munster's promo for this movie FINALLY gives a reason to why this movie was called Godzilla's REVENGE! When in all actuality it was mostly "Son of Godzilla" and "Godzilla vs the Sea Monster" Stock Footage with "Godzilla fights a cheap Knockoff of Gamera" Thanks Grandpa Munster!
I am so happy you posted this. The 80's and 90's UHF hosts like Grandpa Munster, Commander USA, Rhonda Shear, Joe Bob Brigs, and Elvira (as well as many others) are the people that helped shape my passion for film. Thanks for this little slice of nostalgia. BTW what is the music at 0:20. I hum it to myself at at odd times and would love to know the name of it
Ha! I remember watching this as a little boy, and thought that Gabara said that he was "The meanest Godzilla" rather then "As mean as Godzilla." And in my young little mind, I thought that meant he was part of Godzilla's family.
Monstermania? Give me a break! Most of Godzilla's Revenge was recycled footage from "Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster" & "Son of Godzilla"! Even though some of the film is original, and that includes the fights against Gabara, who some call the "Dream Kaiju", it was still a little disappointing watching this film. Still kind of good, though...
It really sucks that both TBS and TNT are currently two of the worst cable stations on TV. It's a shame because for so long (80's-90's) they were both so amazing.
So freaking cool! I remember watching this show back in the late 1980's. I used to love all the classic monster movies they showed, still do. And best of all it was hosted by Grandpa Munster!!

It'd be cool if godzilla was voiced by James Earl Jones.

Holy crap! Grandpa should have won an oscar for his performance here! Better than most Hollywood actors these days at least.

When I was a kid, I lived for Super Scary Saturday and TNT's Monstervision. They're all gone now, and I miss 'em like mad.
