  • I'm a Canon man, through and through. I have a Canon XH-A1. I bought a Canon Legria HF S21 to take with me on hikes and was simply astounded with it's ease of use and quality picture. I've added the XF100 to my equipment and "WOW" what a great camcorder. It's light weight, ease of use and stunning footage even in low light makes it my favorite piece of equipment.

    GREAT CAMCORDER!

  • it has BNC output?

  • am a owner now...good camera....

  • Hate to break the news to all you video production folks, but Video Production just make the top 10 DYING Businesses of 2011 on Forbes.

  • @4Firearms ...lol

  • @4Firearms Video POST production dude.

  • @4Firearms Yeah its video POST production thats dying. Then again there are plenty of "producers" out there that don't find success, so the success rate for Video Production isn't even good to begin with. But forbes was referring to the POST production process, in which less people are now needed for post production work because of the growing popularity of Indie Films and the ability producers now have with new technology to complete the whole process on their own or in a small group.

  • Does this camera have the "Auto Power Off" feature?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

  • When will those camcorders come out?????????

  • @mogyesz225 The XF100 started shipping in February, but in limited quantities

  • @notesonvideo And any idea about when I can buy it in europe?

  • @mogyesz225 No, but over at the dvinfo.net forum, a guy in Copenhagen said he got his back in February; no idea where he ordered it though. You might ask there on the forum. Do you have a local Canon dealer?

  • @notesonvideo Yes, I have. I live in Hungary, and there is a local Canon dealer. I will ask them to help.

  • @mogyesz225 I would suggest going to Cannon's website and try to see if there is a dealer in Hungary. I am sure that Canon sells their cameras in Hungary, the question is where. That's my best tip!

  • @patcism I know that Canon sells their cameras there... :) But i heard that the disaster in Japan broke the Canon factory, and it takes a long time to get a camera from there.

  • Wait for 2 years when the price will be half second hand.

  • I want this camcorder so bad!

  • Check out The Camera Store TV, we have footage up from the model we were able to grab...

  • i was right(check my old comment),even this is still for pre-order,the price in B&H is down to $2,999 for now,i believe the price still has plenty of room to be less for the coming days.that's what i am talking about.

  • it is really rubbish reading endless comments about something nobody knows about. The product in the UK, at least, is not out until Mid Jan 2011 so no one has a really good idea of how the single chip will look and the price.

I have a Sony MC50 and a Sony EX1 - I expect this to be better than the MC50 but that is a very very good camera so it will have to go some.

Anyone , somewhere other than the UK, that actually has one - put up a video taken in normal daylight so we can see the results.

  • @ourtvchannel go check this video on youtube:Canon XF305&105. see for yourself, even on youtube you still can see the difference of the picture quality between 305 and 105(similar to 100),that's not a good sign, that's no miracle can happen to a single 1/3" sensor by now.so now we know the price(from B&H) and we know how this single chip perform,is this help you?

  • Xf100 or Second hand XhA1? Suggestions please! Looking for an entry level pro camera..

  • @simons88 Probably your biggest consideration in that choice is if you want to go with a tape-less workflow.

Second, while the A1 (and updated A1s) use 3ccd, the HDV format specs at 1440x1080 vs. 1920x1080

for the 100 and others - plus the 4:2:2 color bandwidth. Other thoughts: 3 manual rings on the A1, the 100 has one that toggles between functions. 100 is more compact. The A1 is a fantastic camera, but the writing is clearly on the wall for tape. But it ain't dead just yet! :)

  • @simons88 xf100 by all means. 50mbps and 422. You wont find a camera like that for 4k.

  • this is a small smart cam but how you gonna fight with sony's upcoming entry level professional super 35mm sensor NXCAM with a single 1/3" sensor????? sony is gonna beat Red one and Red scarlet's ass, what canon can do? a camcorder that looks cute?

  • @casablancamicasa Would rather the canon with L series lens than any sony with an e mount lens.

  • That is pretty high for that cam... Was thinking of picking up one, maybe two, to up grade to s tapeless media, but damn.... Might have to rethink it.

  • @icon1914 yeah man it wont be that much, I remember when I bought the XHA1 it was listed @ 5,000

  • @swthpaw141 Yeah, I figured that much... but good to know.

  • Respond to this video... but I didint pay that

  • I was waiting but I'll stick with my 7D, $4000 for a 1/3 chip, NO WAY!

  • can everybody just google the price of XF100 and not just listen to this crap? the suggested price for XF100 is 2,999 not 4000 but the street price could be 2,500 or even less,do your research, don't get wrong information from youtube!

  • @casablancamicasa - Most of us hear what you say about the price reported at $2,999 elsewhere, but this isn't just some YouTube video, it's a price quote of $4,000 coming right out of the mouth of a Canon rep, that's what's concerning.

But yes, at $2,500 this camera should sell well. At $4,000, not. Word is now that the camera may not release until April, and that would be a bummer.

  • @zenmachinefilms you were wrong, this cam will be arrive on jan, check the B&H website, the price is 3,299 for now, once this cam in the market everywhere,it will be down to 3000 in no time, and if you can wait for longer like in one or two years,it will be down to 2500 or close to that price, sony got a 35mm sensor NXCAM coming soon, that's what i am waiting to see and compare.

  • $4K for a camera that has only a single 1/3" image sensor and 10X zoom? C'mon Canon, get real. Panasonic tried to price its very similar AG-HMC40 camcorder at $3295 and retailers quickly found they had to drop the price to $2295 to get it to move off the shelves.

As nice as it seems, and apart from the 4:2:2 codec, this is simply an HF-S21 on steroids and a few extra features.

Something like $2495 is a far more realistic. Unless, of course, Canon wants to see Panasonic scooping their market.

  • i planned on buying this.. but now hearing the price its not worth the spend... even though it is ideal for its size and capability it needs a price drop

  • This looks like a wonderful camera. But if it lists for $4000 it won't sell much unless there's a huge street price drop. It would only barely be the cheapest 4:2:2 camera on the market. The Panasonic HVX200a lists for $4200 by Panasonic, but brand new it's $3600 from B&H. A good used HVX200 can be found for less than $2500 daily on Ebay or Craigslist.

Until we see the true price, 1-chip quality, and non-L lens quality, I'm holding judgment on this cam.

  • from the result of my research, this guy is telling a wrong price which is totally nut,the suggestion price for the XF100 is 3000 and the street price could be 2500 or even lower because you can't sell a one chip(1/3") cam higher than 2500,sony VG10 is 2000 with a HUGE APS sensor,so,don't be silly!

  • XF100 is 4000 USD? for a cam with only one 1/3" CMOS sensor? are they crazy?

  • exspensev

  • I'm very excited about this camera.

  • Is there any test footage of this camera anywhere?

  • OMG!... Now I'm ready to go tapeless. gimme gimme gimme
