  • opinions are like ass holes everyones got one now stop fighting about it and enjoy the song or dont listen to it !!!!

  • where can i get the tab for this

  • CARALHO! Good job guys!

  • This is a PROTEST song against the religious establishment NOT god or the creator!

  • not bad.

  • There's no proof of God true, however the universe shows us nothing but intelligent design, whether you refer to the designer as "God" is a choice. I refuse to. here's my favorite argument about God:

We live our lives based on a book we know is incomplete, was written 400 years after Christ died and has been changed countless times. Your only defense is to say people have been worshipping Christ for 2000 years? So what? The Egyptians worshipped cats for 5000! What's your point?

  • Take the 'F' out of the name.

  • Jesus did exist. Josephus actually mentioned his name but NO CRUCIFIXION! Jesus ,it seems from Flavius' historical account, was assassinated by a roman spear... not crucified. The Gospels are really propaganda for the non-jewish audience.

  • As a DEIST(not an Atheist),I think this song shows the contradictions within the Abrahamic faiths. The creator is NOT a man nor any being in the universe. The contradictions are the natural evolution of their application of doctrine. All of the social applications change over time. Jews no longer follow what is in the Book of Numbers and many customs within Islamic belief change over time also. The economic dictate of forbidden USURY is also shown to be NOT applicable during this time.

  • Love the original XTC, Sarah McL. You have demonstrated that this song can truly be a rock standard. Really interesting to hear this version. Avant garde vocal line. Neat little middle section. Love the staccatto stuff at the beginning of the last section, and the drums there. The mark of a good song is when it sounds good in so many versions. XTC were extraordinary songwriters. You have responded fully! Great stuff!

P.S. There's nothing worse that a christian with lousy musical taste.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth no he didn't.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth You keep repeating the same thing, either come up with a decent argument for the existence of God or at the very least address mine and others criticisms of why we think you are wrong. Even if your God did exist I cannot and will not worship a dictator who is quite happy to commit mass genocide, stone people to death for working on the sabbath or murder the first born son of all Egyptians (i'm assuming babies are innocent) - you call that love???

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth eh....ok....

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth wow. u are brainwashed... more than u may realize at the moment, but one day, i hope u will educate yourself and realize that indeed there is NO gOD. PLEASE, for the sake of humanity... take a moment to read a book BESIDES THE BIBLE. break the cycle, the truth is right in front of you.

    open your eyes.........

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth o men, While investigating jesus is a horrific copy for others gods,,,

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth 1. Either God can provide the existence of a God greater than he is or he can not

    2. If God can provide the existence of God more powerful than he is, then he is not omnipotent (because a more powerful God could potentially do more than him)

    3. If God cannot provide the existence of a God more powerful than he is, then he is not omnipotent (because it would be a limit to his power to do such thing)

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth 4. Therefore God is not omnipotent.

    5. Therefore since omnipotence is part of the essence of God in which underlies his simplicity, God does not exist

  • Something to think about.

The USA homeland has been one of the most peaceful and prosperous places to live on Earth overall (excluding the Civil War), and it has been packed with Bible-reading colonists and Christians.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Then you are blind.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth There are many countries that are far more impoverished and violent than the USA and they have a higher percentage of Christians. The US also has one of the highest percentages of children living below the poverty line - your point is?

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Bible reading colonists and christians? Ohh you mean the people who came to a land and murdered, imprisoned, and inslaved the native people, and then bought people like they were livestock and forced them work and raped them and all for the color of there skin. ya real fucking peaceful

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth : Something to think about. FAR FROM PEACEFUL. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICANS? YOUR PEACEFUL AND PROSPEROUS RELIGION HAS BEEN THE CATALYST FOR GENOCIDE, BIGOTRY, SEXISM, SLAVERY,INCEST,& PEDOPHILIA. READ YOUR BIBLE. IT'S ALL IN THERE.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth The near eradication of the Native American peoples? Hello?

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth also, one of the highest crime rates. Not that it's relevant

  • If the whole world followed the gospel of Jesus Christ, heaven would be here.

What we see out there is the work of the flesh, the result of neglecting the Lord's call to seek first the kingdom of God & be reborn of the Spirit.

It is easy to blame God. But blame won't stand on Judgment Day.

By sending Jesus Christ, God has done His part to reconcile a fallen world.

If we really care about the world, the best thing to do is accept Christ as Lord & then really make Him Lord. He is worthy.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Go back to sucking your pastor's cock. Religion has made us the most disgusting creatures to ever walk on this planet. ~90% of human blood that has ever been spilled by another human was done in the defense of an unfalsifiable, invisible authority figure in the clouds.

If the whole world forgot the idea of invisible assholes in the sky, peace would be here.

Wake up, shut the fuck up, or just keep your beliefs to your goddamn self. Thank you. t(^,.,^t)

  • damn, great cover!! they definitely did it justice!!!! wow, its amazing to see how much people can fight over what we're ALL too inferior to understand isnt it?? hmm...its sad really, alot of people believe that what THEY say is true...oh well, this world is just insane isnt it?? cant we all just LISTEN TO THE FUCKING MUSIC?!?!

  • God shows us two paths. He marks them clearly. He shows us the results of our choices on the way down those paths. Every drug addict has seen them. We can turn back anytime when we see the results of being on the wrong path.

There never was a gun to anyone's head. That's an atheist myth.

It's also false accusation. God is fair. The work He did through His Son is above & beyond anything a human would do for small rebellious creatures.

Jesus Christ is worthy of our praise.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth damn - i knew i shouldn't have replied to the religious nut, but here i go again anyway - How is it an Atheist myth? i've clearly been told that i'm going to hell because i reject Jesus, that's his basic message when it comes down to it - in what way is that a choice?

  • @shiftmetal agreed on so many lvls, tbh im always gettin told to stop and turn to god even though my logic points to science, not a man sitting on a cloud, and a zombie that rose from his grave on easter

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth

if we were given free will why were we not given the choice to be born you are an idiot.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth God shows no one anything. And there is no such thing as an atheist myth.... Someone that only exists through the faith of others is not proven to exist and deserves nothing....especially not praise.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth As for God, he sacrificed his own son - how in the world is that a divine act? - it's completely immoral and abhorrent - not to mention deceitful - it's a faux sacrifice because he knew Jesus would rise again - so not real sacrifice at all.

My life is not a miracle from God, there is no supporting evidence for your God whatsoever (just like Thor or zues etc.) - again i refer you to the actual history of the bible instead of reading the stupid thing itself.

  • @shiftmetal It is hard to understand. ok look, they say god, jesus, and holy spirit is one being, but in 3 entity. which means, god did not sacrifice his "son" but himself. trying to really understand this is like pumping water out of the ocean wanting to make it dry. Its impossible. i dont see the reason how you can just go ahead and diss something impossible to understand

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth Many people ENJOY rejecting God? That's a silly thing to say. Maybe many people are still just waiting to believe in god but they haven't been shown proof he exists yet...if a newborn baby is never given proof throughout it's life then what part of that life is it just supposed to throw in the towel and assume you're right?! LOL..... God gave you nothing. I'm an atheist and there is no darkness in my life. Sorry to disappoint you.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth i love god with all my heart and i hope i can be with him when i die. i talk to him every night and he blesses me with great gifts every single moment of my life, he is worthy of all my prayers and worship and time devoted to him. god is love and he makes everything perfect

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth To reject something you have to believe it exists. Plus your name is silly, seeking truth will inevitably lead away from religion.

  • The message of God has been consistent and clear, & it is not hard to understand.

The illness and tragedy on this planet can be summed up with one word: sin.

We see it in the disregard.

    Disregard of God.

    Disregard of others.

    Disregard of the planet.

The problems we see in this world are not a reflection of God, but of our disregard.

If we followed the gospel of Jesus Christ, heaven would be here already.

If you really care about this world, repent of sins, study the gospel of Christ & go help.

  • @GodisTruthseekTruth The gospel of Jesus = Accept me as your lord and saviour or burn in hell - thanks, but no thanks, i don't generally respond well to blackmail. If you take the time to study the historicity and origins of the gospels it's clear that it's a conglomeration of prior pagan religions - the virgin birth, resurrection, miraculous healings - all were myths well before Jesus and Christianity came along.

  • @shiftmetal Exactly! Blackmail indeed! Jesus is a myth. Nothing more.

  • Great job guys.. love your version.

  • But what the REAL thing I was trying to say is, YOU'RE SAYING IT'S ATHEISTIC WHEN IT'S NOT. The man's an "Agnostic Theist". There's a difference. I'm agnostic, I should know. He does say that, BUT he also says "I won't believe in no heaven and hell, no saints no sinners, no devil as well". An Atheist is someone who rejects the belief of any deity, "Deity" - a god. An Agnostic Theist is someone who believes a deity exists but also knows there's a difference between belief and truth.....Knowledge

  • @times6like9these

He says in the video that he doesn't believe in god... if there is one thing I don't believe in, it's you (god)

One quote by Andy: Basically I don't believe in God. I don't think there's a stately British actor in a white sheet looking down on us all and deciding that you're going to get run over, and you're going to win the pool...

  • @times6like9these

Also you are a complete idiot... he is saying dear god (he isn't actually talking to him) He is doing for the sake of the song, are you that dense and that dumb. You are pretty fucking stupid.

  • No, I think you just wanted to call the song atheistic so you could sound cool. Your argument makes no sense. I'm telling you what the song's about because that's because they have SAID that's what the song is about. I was inspired by a series of books with the same title, which lead singer Andy Partridge saw as an exploitation of children. The song is essentially a letter to God asking about his existence. Look it up asshole.

  • @times6like9these "The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is just somebody's unholy hoax", "If there's one thing I don't believe in it's you, dear God".

The lyrics are addressed to God, and vividly describe the range of human suffering, which the narrator attributes to God. The singer concludes every verse with the line "I can't believe in you." Despite the prayer-like quality, the lyrics strongly imply doubt as to the existence of God ("Did you make mankind after we made you?"),

  • The song isn't really atheistic so much as it is a song about him saying "I don't believe in God" yet the song is sung to god. It's more about the inner struggler that he has regarding his faith. He's just questioning how if God is such a wonderful thing how could he let such terrible things happen.

  • @times6like9these It's called artistic license. I could sit here right now and make a poetic letter about how dumb Santa Claus is and address it to Santa Claus to make it more effective, does that mean I believe in Santa Claus? No, I'm just doing it to make it more powerful. It is what makes the song so great. Saying "clearly he believes is God" when the song says "If there one think I don't believe it [God]" and calls the Bible false, simply because its "addressed to God" is horrible reasoning
