fuckin great video, never seen it before. the effects used in this video would take YEARS to filter into the mainstream. it's hard to comprehend just how far-out this stuff was in 1982 unless you were there. the dub is the version i play of "October..."
This was the only song I liked by these guys. They used to play it on the MOD stations during the 80's. Chris and Cosey and then they had Anne Clark on their who had a similar music style. Kind of like reciting poetry to music. It was a trip. Anne Clark had the song Hope Road.
c&c really were a ground-breaking duo, in fact no one ever sounded like them before or since they emerged from TG. chris is such an electronic innovator and cosey's dissonant vocal (she can't be said to have a 'classic' singing voice!) fit so perfectly together. can you tell i'm a fan yet?!
I knew there was a Manchester/Tony Wilson/Ian Curtis connection....so don't get shirty! Anyway-we few who can appreciate the beauty of this music shouldn't get grevious with each other! Pleased to meet you AntiMusick...
Throbbing Gristle...weren't they managed/produced by Hooky from New Order?...great sound, but the guy in the mask shouldn't be encountered alone in a dark alleyway...lol
Throbbing Gristle existed years before New Order and even Joy Division. TG released their 1st LP in 1977 when JD released their 1st LP in 1979 ... TG had 3 LPs out by the time JD had their 2nd LP released in 1980. Industrial Records was founded in 1976 when Factory Records was founded in 1978.
@AntiMusick Yeah... what is the link between TG and and JD and NO? There's no strong continuity between the noise/spectacle of TG and the doom rock of JD and the deep bop of NO! They probably have more in common with The Pistols.
@blacknganga They are all bands from England near and around the same time, Gen clamed to have known Ian, it is possible from the punk gigs from in the late 70s there.
you took my hand on the stair no-one was around you said we could be lovers i just had to say the word only the afternoons were ours the nights were full... just full of silent love.. verse... our hearts and my heart beating together, together forever, forever together.. days of october, our hearts together, beating forever, together forever... just nights of silent love.. we couldn't touch, we couldn't kiss we were promised to another now we are together just kiss me and kiss me forever
I don't know about the video. I was talking about the song itself, which I just found posted by someone else. The quality isn't as good as this, but I prefer that version of the song.
oh dear there was always a comic side to Throbbing gristle . Synthesizers like depeche mode tongue in cheek lyrics .they could sell a million of these being funny . but they want money they just dont wanna have a hit.
i don't think that bands like these can be compared with eachother...they are all pretty unique in their own way and have contributed to the development of all electronic music in general!!!!!
C & C have always been on my top list...they have charisma!
it was transferred from an original NTSC doublevision VHS tape that I purchased around 1990, and it was encoded using a lite-on VHS 2 DVD machine, and then I just took the mpeg file from the dvd copied it to the computer and edited the clip to fit and uploaded. WYSIWYG

you see a lot of C&C influences in today's artists like Ladytron, Miss Kitten, etc.
I saw them in concert and was amazing!!!!

Only just been exploring some of the post-TG projects, what Chris & Cosey album would you recommend? (or Carter-Tutti for that matter)

These records blew me away when they came out and I still have them!
It's hard to fathom for those who weren't around yet , but this music was nothing like disco at all.
No other way to describe it , it was a reinvention, but more than that.
Hearing this after Throbbing Gristle was a big surprise , but it was great.
Still is.
