the original purpose of the tax exempt foundations like carnegie was to counteract the departure of the colonies from gb & was devoted to putting the pieces back together again.
now that sounds fairly vague to me. i wish he had time to go into that more.

Seems as though the foundations already had dubious motivations but were further warped & subverted by the trustees & banks that took over those foundations.
