Yup! I never get tired of listening to this video. Such feel and great tone, simple awesomeness! And I don't think Andy sounds as good on his Mesa amps. That Laney sound can't be beat!
If I could make a deal with the devil, it would involve me playing the passage from 5:01 to 5:08.
But that's not fair to the dozens of other amazing feats he accomplishes in this song. What I find stunning is how he can dress up EVERY BAR of that masterful song for 8 minutes. And as he's said, he plays it differently every time he plays it. Check out other versions and see how he dresses it differently each time - and always, ALWAYS, with that intensity and feeling that's shown so vividly here.
I've been into this guy since I saw him doing a dual clinic with Shawn Lane back in '94. Simply phenomenal. His tone is the best in the business, and he's so much more than just a "shredder". Taste, tone, technique, he's got it all in spades, and the sheer joy that he exudes when he plays comes through in his music. He totally "gets it" and truly expresses himself in ways that the overwhelming majority of so-called "shredders" can only dream of! My favorite guitarist, hands-down.
ive only played guitar for 5 yrs..i cant tell you whos got the best techniques/skills. But to be honest i enjoy watching him play more then ,vai, satriani whatever. maybe they have better skills.. i dont know but
this guys expressions are mind blowing. i could feel every note from him!
Ufff I felt every note, I saw him alive, and believe me, HE'S REALLY THAT GOOD.
Andy with Steve are my favorites players ever, u can be the best on technique with time and a loooot of practice, but you just can't learn how to fell your music.
this along with gypsy is my fav from Andy.one hell of a musician who has that ear for melodic phrases with perfect timing and dynamics to match!as for this tune stick to D nat min and its relative lydian brother(Bb)and you cant go wrong:)wont sound the same as andy but you will be playing in his park
dear god, beautiful beautiful phrasing I am getting chills listening to this

That guitar must have really hurt when it came out of his mother's womb along with him. Holy Jesus, he's out there. Wow.

I wish I could play so effortlessly! And have it come out so perfect like Mr. T! What sustain and clarity, even with a ton of gain. Perfect tone!
PS--Way more modern sounding than Eric Johnson, IMHO!
