  • You are a braver man than me,McGee, doing any kind of engine work without a manual. That way you get the proper torque specs at least.

  • @Statimtek

    HA!

Just wait 'til you see the rest! Specs aren't much good with a junk torque wrench!

  • Locktite?

  • ''Did I say Tractor?'' LOL

  • How did the machinist register exactly 180* opposite the worn out keyway? And was it cheaper than the used camshaft ($60)? Love this "use what you have" attitude!........Art

  • @planefloat

Best guess. Same on the gear. Used what was left of the key slot and put a key in it. Indexed it on the centering block so the key was at the bottom and the flat of the key parallel with the deck. Scribed TDC of the shaft and cut accordingly. The gear was not quite so accurate. Just laid a straight edge along the slot and scribed a line on the opposite side. Charged me a 20 and I threw another 5 at him!

  • @ElderlyIron Gotcha! I thought part of it would be an "eyeball" measurement. Price was right, he had at least 1/2 hour into it...........Art
