  • Muito bom!

  • It is the nature of all of those born of imperfection to lust for something out of the natural. If only to remove them from their current living condition many are willing to risk their very existance for that. War will go on.

Also it does always make a great story.... As a writer I would know...

  • "-and the drowning scorpion answered the poisoned frog: It's neither reason, nor logic. I'm a scorpion; it's my nature." - The Scorpion and the Frog.

Sometimes I think it's human nature to fight rach other over whatever reasons plausible... Even if it means self-destruction. Quite sad, really.

  • but it makes good entertainment, though

  • @GrahamChapman Could you tell me where's the quote from? Your thoughts are quite impressive. And yes..it is sad and true.

  • @tiszavirag: It's the closing sentences from the fable "The Scorpion and the Frog", a quite well-known tale where I'm from... "Impressive"? I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by that. Would you kindly elaborate on it a little? ... Indeed, it is. And when the scorpion known as "humanity" finally drowns, it wouldn't surprise me if the frog it brought down along with it was "the world".

  • @GrahamChapman I meant by impressive that you spotted human nature from a specific point of view. Referring to 'neither logic, nor reason', we really don't differ from animals too much..other than..even if we have the ability and will to create..we destroy.

So it's impressive how a simple fable can point out an awful yet true thing..like this.

  • @tiszavirag: Ah, you meant like that. Well, it sorta comes with being a cynic; being aware of humanity's less-than-flattering sides, that is... M'yeah. People often disregard and/or underestimate the messages that the fables from the good ol' days conveyed.

  • @GrahamChapman Right? I agree with that. And Now-a-days cartoons tell nothing I mean completely nothing. Poor kids only learn how to be ignorant by them. Oh well, but I'm aware of our imperfections.. even so, I believe that we are capable of more than what we are now, so let's hope we grow out from this childish way of living/thinking.

  • @tiszavirag: Yeah, I've seen the stuff, and I can tell it's just getting worse and worse... Well, of course. That's another thing that I've learned: The active preservation of hope, and a stubborn refusal to give in to the cynicism and letting it control of my actions and speech is what keeps me from turning into one of the bastards that drove me to cynicism in the first place.

  • @GrahamChapman I knew that about a scorpion and turtle

  • @GrahamChapman That's simply an excuse to indulge in the pleasures of making others suffer and feeling powerful. Easier than letting your rational mind takes control. In fact, I don't see anything sas regarding self-destruction, but the destruction of everything else. We are destroying Earth. Self-destruction would be a blessing.

  • @UnoQueLlegaYDice: I am well aware of the meaning behind the fable... If you don't see anything sad about self-destructive behavior, then I'd say you are self-centered, or have too narrow perspectives, to see that self-destructive behavior greatly affects those around the self-destructive one... Well, that's on the individual scale, where subjectivity rules, at least. In greater, more objective perspectives, the lines blurr. Life, sorrow, death... Everything loses its value and purpose.

  • @GrahamChapman Conflict is a very normal part of life don't pretend it isn't, but how you handle yourself during conflict is what's important. The childish are quick to lash out because they feel what they believe in is being threatened, and the mature understand that there is likely to be differences between everyone and if you can't agree it's better to just move the fuck on. Also you do realize you just used a fake story [albeit entertaining] as your source of knowledge on this matter, right?

  • @RMabee88 Oh, I won't agrue against conflict being natural. Why it's far more natural than most of us acknowledge it as... As for your diffenciating povs on conflict, immature vs mature, well, frankly speaking I don't get your point. Could you further specify what you mean? (The childish part I understood, but the mature part seems undeveloped to me.) Finally, "fake story"? Well, it's not like fables are historical retellings of events that has occured, you know.

  • @GrahamChapman Maturity in this case, meaning that violent conflict usually isn't the best option after careful consideration and in most cases doesn't accomplish the goals you are looking to achieve anyway (like changing their opinion to agreeing with yours.) But that doesn't mean that it's human nature to always fight even if it means self destruction. Basically conflict is a part of human nature but choosing to fight over it is a conscious choice not natural law.

  • @RMabee88 Though I agree with you in some respect, I still have to disagree with you on a few points... You said yourself; the childish lash out on those who they percieve threatens them, thus, any goals besides destroying the offending part doesn't have to exist at all. From that, I can only conclude that two conflicting childish parties might very well be the embodiment of unending destruction, just as two mature parts are likely to almost always find peaceful sollutions. (tbc)

  • @RMabee88 But if one chidish part attempts to destroy a mature part, the mature part doesn't really have a true choice; it's "Fight" or "Perish", and by then survival instincts will rule the choice... Furthermore, if a mature part is the one that's on the move, even though it DOES have the choice of doing things peacefully, there's no guarantee that it WON'T pick "Fight", as a curbstomp war might lead to a severe military moral decline in the other part, thus possibily preventing future wars.

  • @GrahamChapman Thats why people like video games. They can live out their implanted desires virtually rather than literally. It's my belief violence is not our nature, but our pattern/learned behavior. Not that you asked me.

  • @PhraseToCutMyLips I suppose that's one pov... Not one I fully agree with, though; nature and nurture both shape who we are, this is a fact. Through nature we are just fucking monkeys with shoes, and as such I think "fight for dominance" is a basic genetical thing. By nurture, I think that violent media (books, comics, music, movies, video games) affects our own behavior, but can also be used to saturate our violent urges... And I don't mind, I like hearing what other people think.

  • Hey @GrahamChapman, I don't want to be 'that guy' but you misspelled each two years ago, it took me awhile to find out which word you were talking about. Anyways there really isn't any use for this comment, it won't fix anything so what did you have for breakfast today?
