Maybe someone here can help. No matter what method i use, what os i use, when i connect the droid x in bootloader to my computer... nothing. Well thats a lie. My phone flashes "Transfer mode: USB" for a second then goes back to "connect data cable" ... PLEASE HELP!
i really need to do this but my computer is running Ubuntu, NOT windows. i can't get the rsd thing to open so i can use it. can someone help me out with this.
first time messing with my phone and i jacked it up, i need to get my phone straightened out. thanks in advance.
What are the differents between Sbf file size? I have looking into redoing my phone because of multi issue with with gingerbread. i have been watch some youtube video most have link to sbf files, but they range from 250Mb to 536MG (not exact file size but close)
Worked perfectly! Thanks man! (Had to restart my win 7 laptot after getting the drivers to get them to work.) All in all, painless for a non-tech type. (had a glass o rum to calm the nerves.)
Thank you so much! I have been trying to figure out how to unroot my droid X for months. I couldn't get rid of the boot strap recovery. It took a few tries but your instructions worked!
One thing I did differently was instead of extracting the .zip file and choosing the folder. I chose the .zip file with RSD. It then gave an option to unzip and flash. WAHOOO!!!
i did everything just like u did. and my phone went all the way through the steps, booted up on its on and nothing was changed. exactly the same as it was b4 i did this???
I did everything to the letter then when it got to 100% executed it said to power on manually so i unplugged the phone and took out the battery waited 10 seconds put back in then started it up and its now in boot loop. I have done this before so i dont know what to do.
B. Leave it out for about a minute or so, then put it back in (Phone Powered Off)
C. You're going to want to reboot into Android Recovery (Hold Home Then power, until exclamation point appears then press your search button.
D. Go down to factory reset/data wip (Use volume rockers as navagation, and use camera key as selection) And let that go through, Let it restart give it a few minutes to boot up

This video was so helpful! The best one out there! I followed your directions word for word, while you did them and it turned out perfect. My phone went at the same speed yours did, made things twice as easy. Thank you SO MUCH! :D
1. If you can't load the SBF file or the Start button is gray. Try moving the .sbf to another folder. I think it gets confused when the directory path is too long or something.
2. If your phone does not show up in the list, and your sure the driver is installed, try rebooting the PC.
i was completely screwed until I found your video. Thank you so much. I was on a z4 root and couldnt get rid of clockworkmod bootstrap. this did the trick and i just completed ota update gingerbread for droid x. 6-9-2011 AWSOME VIDEO.. THANKS AGAIN!
used this last night (6-6-2011) and it worked like a champ. I followed right along with it and did everything just like the video. PERFECT. Thanks for making this vid. It helped me a lot. I love your videos and explainations. You do such a great job. Please keep up the great work. Cant wait for the next postings. Can you do the new Gingerbread 596 walk through ? Thanks again.
Unable to get into Bootloader. Press power button, volumes down and camera at the same time and it does not go into bootloader. All it does is power up my phone. I am currently running Android 2.3
I tried this, did everything you did, and when I booted my phone back up, it won't start up. it shows the motorola logo, the droid logo, then the red circle, then it just keeps repeating. Idk what to do, someone please help.
For those who can't get this to work right and are doing all the steps correctly, try this linux iso. Go to droidxforums dot cahm and search for "linux solution to your windows/rsd lite problems" it's a sticky in the Droid X Hacks section. Its an iso of a bootable linux with built in 340. Fixed my problem which was rolling back from 573 to 340. I was getting an instant error on rsdlite.
@Portareaf Yeah, I got it to work. At first I was trying to do it on my computer that was running windows 7, which is when I was having all the problems. So I decided to try it on my laptop that was still running xp and it works. I have done it a few times now without any problems. So for me it was an issue with windows 7. If you have access to a computer that is running xp, try it on that and hopfully it works for you like it did me.
allright i need help i had a rooted gingerbread leak 4.57 something and it was unstable so i tried to restore a backup or a liberty rom on froyo 2.21 and it got stuck in bootloop. I tried this and at the end as it was rebooting rsd light said reboot device manually and it was frozen! so how do you get out of bootloop? and my battery is low does it still charge when plugged in? Thanks
I use a d2 but your vids are the best. I feel confident in flashing my first rom (liberty) thanks! I was worried about my phone showing up as s flash but it seems that's OK
Ok so...If I need the full sbf for gingerbread do you know where I can get it. Could you post a link. Cause I tried to flash the sbf for gingerbread on my phone and got me stuck on bootloader. Don't worry I fixed though. Just need to know where I can get a GOOD file.
Have u tried installing the current drivers froms Motorola. Just go to their support page for Droid X, Usb and charger, then look for the drivers download. Its free and helped me out with what you're dealing with.
Great job on this video. This was exactly what I needed to be able to take my x back to the store. They are overnighting me another one thanks to your video. I couldn't have done our without you. So thank you 600 times. One for every dollar you saved me.
Great job man also when I SBF'ed back from the unrooted Gingerbread leak I got a bootloop. If you get a bootloop just boot into the stock recovery and wipe data/ factory reset and you should be golden!
Will this work even if I've deleted stock apps??

What you want to do is:
A. Pull the battery out of the phone
B. Leave it out for about a minute or so, then put it back in (Phone Powered Off)
C. You're going to want to reboot into Android Recovery (Hold Home Then power, until exclamation point appears then press your search button.
D. Go down to factory reset/data wip (Use volume rockers as navagation, and use camera key as selection) And let that go through, Let it restart give it a few minutes to boot up
You're on stock!
