A band with 3 leads that play/sing/write, who attracted 110,000+ fans including many from multiple countries to their "last" concert, played 3 sold out shows at MSG, who give much support to multiple charities, and all this as an independent band with no radio or major corporate promotion? Thats just insane, they are making history. I am so glad they are back together!
Even though this is very rhythmically uneven and WAY fast, they have some strange energy that makes it sound better than the recorded version. I love this performance!
I adore this song, but DAMN they're such bad players.... this song is absolutely fantastic, though... 1:44 GOD, that sucked... that drummer needs to find a metronome.. (sorry, guys... it's TRUE... their manager was just RIDING the wave instead of really working this group correctly... it's obvious)
this is WAAAAAAYYYY too fast, guys... where'd your groove go? wtf?
anyway, great song; great story well-told. good on you, dispatch. now, GO PRACTICE your instruments!!!
@somebodyjones2 Imperfections aren't always a bad thing... Look at a band like the white stripes, sure meg white cant play the drums for shit, but it gives the music a different feel. this may not be technically good, but thats not the point.. BUT ALAS i am no genius myself, and i say to you to each his own.
@madcuzubad no, i know... imperfections MAKE music. I'm a HUGE miles davis fan...those records are RIDDLED with imperfections. When i am in the studio with a group, we are never working toward "perfection."
that said, i'm not speaking to imperfections; i'm speaking to a band that can't seem to hold it together and create the synergy (result is greater than the sum of its parts) that other bands of mediocre players can... .. and meg vibes in that band WAY better than any of these guys
@somebodyjones2 Man.. You need to check out some other Dispatch stuff. This is not a good example of them. They literally broke up right after this performance. Tensions were running high. They are amazing instrumentalists.
@axjtjf *shrugs*... okay. i'm having a hard time believing that they are amazing instrumentalists, judging by the weak playing on the original recording (which I like a LOT, by the way) and THIS performance. i've been in bands with turmoil... you still play tight.
dunno... don't really care. i'll check it out, i guess.. i think our standards might be different, though. I'm not impressed, is all.
thnx for the background info, though. i wasn't aware of that.

Terrific, very clever anti-war song! Some battles may be necessary, but the "old general" obviously determined that the one in the song isn't worth the carnage to follow. Not a vocal song for the timid - nor for the non sober!

@jeremy0574 - just as a heads up, if they got rid of the bass player they would lose like 40% of their catalog. Since you just got into them, they switch instruments. This is the basic layout. The song Bang Bang is Pete (the bassist) playing guitar, Chad (the singer) playing bass and singing and Brad drumming. They will switch quite a few times on stage, and will have drummers (or guitarists) fill in, especially when Brad plays the guitar and sings. Also, I have seen Pete sub in on drums.
@mvnup2 Just bustin' ya balls bro. I'm just psyched beyond words to see Dispatch for the first time in years. I've never seen a better band live, and a crowd more positive, happy, and groovin'. Love O.A.R. too. Saw them live in NYC. Killer sax solos. Peace!
What's with people thinking the bassist is a douche? Idk about anyone else but i think when you play your music it doesn't mean shit if you don't like it. He CLEARY likes his music and that makes it that much better.
@jeremy0574 i hate when people say ANY band doesn't need a bass player, just because the instrument is usually more subtle and not as easily heard does not mean it isn't needed. and i happen to love the bass in this song.
