I live here in Dahlonega. Every river every stream every place where water flows around this area 5 or 6 miles from town center you WILL find gold or gold flake. Its very hard work, back breaking really. You need some big tools to really get something worth while even at 1600/oz as most gold buyers want more than a few flakes. It has to be smelted down. Good thing is gold here is THE purest in the world.
I live 3 1/2 hours away, and don't get up to the Dahlonega, GA, area but once or twice a year... THis portion of the Chestatee River is only about 3 miles South of Dahlonega, GA, on Hwy 19, at the public access area.
Chestateegold, can you help answer Princerasta1982's question about river flow levels?
Thanks, Randy C-17A triple w (dot) goldadventures (dot) biz
im in jacksonville florida right now(Jan 11). do you know if the river is low like it was in october? how high will it get in feb and is that in dahlonega?
its pretty low right now, about 1.5 feet. in october it was a little less, but not much. and yes, its in dahlonega
if you would like further info on the river height, just go to google and type in "chestatee river height" and its the first link. you can see the river height history over the past 4 months.
Thanks for sharing! Good for all to know the local info....

Justmy10 cents,
Thanks for looking. That hard packed gravel on the bedrock was incredibly hard to break apart to hand pan out. Hard fun............in my outdoor gym!
