I love how the thumbnail for this video has the "KKK" in it...I find it interesting though. Democrats are the ones who opposed the abolition of slavery and the civil rights movement. The Republicans are the ones who pushed to free the slaves and though President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into legislation, Johnson was strongly opposed to it, and was no doubt a very racist southerner. So I find the title to be a bit ironic.

In fact white southern conservatives left the Democratic Party because they saw a Democratic President introduce the Civil Rights legislation. The whole argument about "activist judges" stems from the white southern conservative disdain for court rulings in favor of the Civil Rights Movement.
