  • this is a nice tune

  • Today's BULLSHIT music last's for 3 months, 60's - 90's music last's FOREVER!!!!

  • dooooooooo caralhoooooooooooo

  • silver shadow shining bright for all to see.....i belive destiny 4 all 2 see future tell me ......

  • bentleys ... canning town flyover....good times

  • @str8outtatexas1 to answer your question ill look back on the same great music u listened to because even though i wasn't born in that era, i know what good music is and that's all that matters. Old school never dies!

  • star that i would be,,,,, silver shadow.....look at my ...yea yea

  • I'm 43 and I think being a teen through the 80's was the best. I loved hearing my parents playing their favorites from the 60's and 70's and they even appreciated my generations music. There's no music history and no respect from the younger artists towards their trailblazers. To hear Keyshia Cole diss MJB...disrespect. Artist used to really work hard at their craft. I miss good music. I miss R&B which is the one genre that is truly dead.

  • @clevawoman when did k. cole diss mjb? [no wonder her career stalled lol]

  • wow--I love this song. Sharon Bryant was the best female lead singer. Watch for this group on UNSUNG in January!

  • @onemeanscorpio While you are correct that Sharon Bryant is one of the best singers ever, this is not her. This is Barbara Weathers. "Silver Shadow" was on the "As the Band Turns Album", their sixth album, and first post Sharon Bryant album. It's off the same album as "Secret Lovers" released in 1985. And, Barbara Wethers is one of best singers ever also.

  • @djaybkay I pulled out all of my Atlantic Starr albums and saw that this is Barbara Weather's voice, so big-ups to you for the correction. I also have their " Best of Atlantic Starr" cd and they don't list which female singer is actually singing lead vocals so I think this is why I was confused. Thanks for the info!

  • Fantastic piece of music. The song that got me into this band. In fact "You" from the album Legacy, was our wedding song a couple of years ago.

  • I'm 16 and got nothing but love for the old school and who lived through it. To bad black music doesnt have ''the feeling'' like it used to. :(

  • this post is excellent

  • Silver Shadow...a glowing shadow...shining brightly for all to see....thats my life right now!♥ it!

  • love dis song damyumn my memories....love em wuldnt change nothing:P

  • The best track for Atlantic Starr in my opinion. One of my favs

  • remember this one on channel 4's "soul train" in 1985 - fantastic

  • I'm 45 now and I really miss the music from back in the day, so much soul, and feeling, the musicality, the talent. A long gone era that I wish would come back. They don't make music like this anymore. The crap that is put out nowadays could never hold a candle to classics like this...

  • hang on a minute little wayne aint too bad its the pop like lady gaga thats shite...

  • Loved this, Brannigans, in Royal Exchange in Manchester U.K, no not the big mainstream excuse of a club by same name later on.

  • As a kid, this song would put me in a trance. A definite classic.

  • A truly magical song that has stayed with me from my childhood

  • I know I'm only 15 - but my dad made me listen to this in the car when I was little - it's about six years ago and I still remembered enough of the song to find it on youtube!

  • Classic and Timeless !!!!

  • another fantastic tune. I remember hearing this on the UK soultrain and everyone dancing for their lives - those times were the best, with the best music ever.

  • What happened to or

Where are the unisex groups ?

Where are the groups period ?

    Technology killed the black band.

But greed and drugs did to.

  • An absolute classic tune. Back when music had soul and the artists could actually play the instruments and sing. Great group

  • I am 18 and I plan to have this group played all over my wedding. This is my fave Atlantic Starr song beside Am I Dreaming and Touch A Four Leaf Clover. They went in. My dad used to BLAST their music in the car. My dad murdered their greatest hits CD and it got lost somewhere. They go in! There is still young kids who prefer this music out there and I am a part of the remnant.

  • Still sends a tingle down my spine and still puts a smile on my face listening to this!!!!!

STILL!!!!.............. O.M.G. after all these years.......

    .....Go on Atlantic Starr......

....Wish I could rewind to the past:)

  • Im 40 and so remember burning the phone lines with my 1st love, with these and Mtume,SOS in the background. The best era in music....

  • sing-a-long masssssssive!!! big tune!! ...

  • uksofunky66 - totally agree. I also did Sunday Night Soul in a local pub with the best man from my wedding and when we get the chance (weddings, parties), we still do a turn. Can't beat these memories.

  • i love this song,at least the soul weekenders still live on ,in the uk,i used to do a soul nite in a pub on sundays ,wish i could do them again, long love youtube.

  • i'm ole school to the heart, i get so excited when i listen

  • i am loving this group- takes me back to the 80s- Saw them in concert 86 i think in London- Hamersnith Odeon- still in the groove

  • Aaahh...the refreshing memories :-)

  • beautiful track that will live forever

  • muito bom,gostei de mais.

  • @sigma9570 I wish i could go back too! Damn, why can't we be 20 something forever

  • I feel sorry for the clubbers of today. What they have to listen to in nightclubs now that pass for music.

  • this brings bak so many memorys im in my 40s now, GOD I WISH I COULD GO BAK, the muzic now adays is CRAP

  • omg i have not heard this song for years love it love it

  • @tceyannetwinz I'm 23 y/o too, I love this song too. My mom and I would always here songs back in the 80's and 90's

  • I'm 47 takes me back to my Marine Corps days. Hanging in sunny California by way of Detroit. Great times and music. This is GROWN FOLKS MUSIC!!!

  • When I was no older than 7, my mom had the cd with this song on it. She would play it every night, along with Circles by Atlantic Starr, to help me go to sleep. I'm 17 now && I'm not ashamed to say that I still listen to these song to help me sleep sometimes. God I love my mom.!

  • I use to dance to this in the clubs... London and when in the Army in germany with the possee which included Nigel Benn good days

  • nice music make your soul feel so good

  • responding to the one under me.....you are so right...no passion.but i do like all the ones you put down.

  • It's amazing how people 35 or 36 and older can reminisce or talk about how great all the music was back in the 60's,70's,80's,90's. all the soul,funk,hip-hop,classic rock,r&b, ect.. Now i'm wondering what in the hell can people today who are 30 and younger say in 25 years from now about the bullshit they call music? I'm serious, what can you say about lil wayne, gucci mane,t-pain,flocka wake, chris brown, ect? today's music has no passion, soul, feeling, substance, or creativity. old school 4 ever.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Sorry to say, but the stuff they're doing now, will sound really good compared to what's coming. at least is sounds like someone attempted to play music. It's really getting away from us now. they even stopped using good-sounding samples. It's like someone got them together at a meeting, and told them what to play.

  • @str8outtatexas1 That they all had grilllllzzzz, Tats and entitlement and all that shizzle, LOLOLOL!!! Oh also, they had and borrowed one another's IPADs, IPHONEs and Sexted!!!!!! LOLOLOLO what a triffled generation!!!!!! I know that when we were younger, we had wars, double dip inflation, divorces, violence, etc.... but;

things have definitely turned uglier today and we all can palpate it daily. We lived a better live and time then for sure!!!!

  • @str8outtatexas1 Hey Im a youngsta and I know so much bout the good music like this one. But Im more of a 90's baby since I was born in the 90's

  • @str8outtatexas1 Sad to say but so true in feeling! When ppl today think about old skool they will skip this music and listen to our old skool music. Their music hasnt left any imprint. Glad we cant say the same!

  • @str8outtatexas1 what is in the charts isn't a fair reflection of today's culture. there is plenty of music out there that does have "passion, soul, feeling, substance, and creativity" it just doesn't have commercial backing.

same as it was back in the old school. atlantic starr themselves are a good example. never had the commercial success their talent deserved.

in fact i'm sure there were cats back then talking bout how "this shit don't compare to 60s" etc

  • @str8outtatexas1

    LOL and so true!

  • such a pretty song with so many memories

  • @str8outtatexas1 Scary thought isnt it..............and I'm 31 years of age! ha ha. Love all the music genres you mentioned from back in the day, unlike some of the shit we hear nowadays.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Totally agree

  • @caleboki2008 I'm 23 by the way

  • @str8outtatexas1 I have a 10 and a 7 year old, they groove to the music of the 70's, 80's and 90's as well as some that other stuff they think is music. Hopefully when they are adults they will say the music of the 1970's, 80's and 90's was the best.

  • Believe or not this song was one of DMX's biggest inspirations musically.

  • @BaronUnderbite YEAH X WAS BIG IN R&B....HE LOVED REGINA BELLE

  • I just heard this song for the first time 2 days ago and completely fell in love with it. I don't remember much of the 80s as I was born in 85' but I envy those who grew up around this time and witnessed what this great decade had to offer in music.

  • Yet another 80's top tune ! Nice to see many of you young blood 's appreciate the music we had back in the day.......

  • take it back old school the music now dont really have alot of meaning sum do n i do respect the new genration no disrespect this my type of music..................

  • this era of music never gets old.......

  • im 18yrs old and i love this and other old school songs!

  • Ahhhh... such memories... This song reminds me of 1985, Pensacola Fla. I was stationed there (Navy) when this song dropped. This song will always remind me of my first love, Jennifer S. What a time in my life!!! There wasn't much fanfare except for the real Atl. Starr fans. Secret Lovers was all the rave but THIS smooth, classy jam was and always will be my favorite Barbara Weathers led Atl. Starr cut. Music is the soundtack of life isn't it? I absolutely LOVE this song folks...it is timeless

  • my mother played this all the time. Good music ,N.C. knows what time it is.( Born in washington, n.c.)27889.Now a new yorker.

  • @misb4 my mother also played this all the time. She was a singer in a band in Fayetteville in the 1980's and had to learn the learn words to these songs & more. The words stuck in my head. Now I belt them out like no time has passed. =)

  • great music but the funny thing is

Atlantic STARR is spelled like this

just wanted to let you know..

    Benjamin from Clayton NC.

  • One for Paula M did u marry him hype Amaka's first

  • who knew when I got grown this would be the music that I prefer

  • atlantic starr will always be that group that was bad! aint it funny how we dont appreciate good music until it's good and gone.

  • This tune is better than the RollsRoyce that carry's the same name.

  • I never had any real reason

    to thank my lucky stars

But now I got a pretty good reason cause

I know I'm gonna go far

I believe in magic, I really do

    With all that's happened

    It's got to be true

    I cast a silver shadow

from the kiss of the light

I knew that I was destined starting with tonight (yeah)

  • @naomiafia yeah I'm 32 but I rememeber this song like it was yesterday first time hearing it....love this group, too.

  • @naomiafia So very true. Brings back some good memories!

  • @naomiafia I was at a George Benson 'Picnic In The Park' concert on Hampstead Heath last night (July 1st '11) & it brought back so many memories of the good old days you mentioned.

The bad news is we cant halt the march of time

The good news is our generation (I'm 46 now) didn't just fade away & disappear; we're still around, albeit in the background, but we still LOVE the good groove & occassionally, like last night on the Heath, we get down and party into the sunset. I love our generation

  • @kevintheshedend1976 Agree 100%! Our generation had magical music! I am SO jealous of you seeing GB. : )

  • omg...yeah...this was my youth...a menn...thnx for posting it...
